About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This fully-equipped, mountain cabin is located in Dollar Point on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. This mountain retreat is centrally located for great access to world-class ski resorts. In the summer enjoy the Private Association pool, beach, pier, and tennis courts. Also enjoy biking, kayaking, rafting down the Truckee River, and hiking on many local trails.

This home has a log cabin feeling with beautiful sunny windows and a peek view of the lake. Comfy couches, freestanding fireplace, piano, and cedar walls contribute to the warm and cozy atmosphere. The kitchen has just been remodeled with knotty alder cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The deck is brand new in 2008 with a nice teak dining table for six along with a Weber gas grill.

Private bedroom with a queen-size bed and study fully equipped for computer access is on the main floor; upstairs is large master bedroom with king-size bed, rocking chair, and views of the lake; also upstairs is kids paradise room with two twins, a bunkbed with double on bottom, small pool table, and toys. Linens and towels provided.

About Debra Madigan

We are a hardworking and fun loving couple. We have been married for 25 wonderful years. We have two great kids! One is attending college in Colorado and one is in high school. We live in Northern California in what is referred to as the Napa/Sonoma wine country. We love to go wine tasting with our friends.

Debra Madigan purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Debra Madigan chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

We have been traveling to Tahoe for many years. We love to snow ski, hike, raft, bike, and enjoy sailing on the lake. It is so exciting to head to the mountains when it is snowing to ski in fresh powder and retreat to a cozy cabin with a roaring fire. The restaurants are plentiful with lots of good music groups playing. In the summer the lake is absolutely beautiful with clear water. We love to sail to restaurants to have lunch or dinner or find a sandy beach to drop anchor. Rafting down the Truckee river is a great party, relaxing and thrilling at the same time. We always have a great time in Tahoe. Hiking to waterfalls, biking to River Ranch or Squaw, there is always lots to do!

What makes this cabin unique

Our homeowners association is great. They have mixer barbeques at the pool every Wednesday night! The tennis pro has drills and lessons and if you time it right, tournaments. There is a great big lawn by the pool to hang out, ping pong table, play structure for the kids and bocce ball court. We have a big sandy beach with large umbrellas provided, more tennis courts, a long pier, and volleyball court on the sand. There is a place for big beach party with a reservation. Dollar Point has easy access in the winter and we have plently of off street parking. It is located centrally to all the ski resorts. We improve our property every year and it keeps getting better and better. It is one house from Edgewood and they all have full lake views.

December 2015 Stay in Tahoe

  • 3 of 5

Pros: Owners are fine to work with. The cabin was very cute, cozy and clean. The small kitchen is very well equipped and had good quality appliances. Nice floor plan and fireplace in living area. Nice flat screen TV.

Cons: Bed in downstairs bedroom was very soft and on shaky frame. Bed in master bedroom was in only fair condition. I looked and mattress was old. Good beds are a high priority with us. One living room couch was exceptionally unsupportive for a 185 lb. person. If these items are corrected, we would definitely like to return.

Our review for this cabin

  • 2 of 5

We rented this property for the Christmas week of 2013. The property was not clean and sanitized as expected, but we were charged for 4 hrs of cleaning even though majority of properties do not charge cleaning fees if you stay for longer than a week. When we arrived in the cabin we found 2 used, empty coffee paper cups and stale bread in a plastic bag in the refrigerator, several unused paper plates under the bed in the 1st floor bedroom and trace of toothpaste in the sink in 2nd floor bathroom. The owner of the property didn't not provide toilet paper, hand soap and wood logs for the fire place as the other owners for rental properties do. $50 were deducted from our security deposit which according to the owner is an "irreplaceable antique angel plaque" the price of which on ebay one can replace between $5.99-$19.99. This was our experience with this owner which I would like to share with and forwarn possible renters for this property.

Owner's Response: This guest has been renting in Tahoe for 15 years but evidently never back to the same place twice and we were just unfortunately next on the list. Housekeeping was not optional and a one page rental agreement was signed clearly stating the rules along with reinforcing emails. We were at the cabin prior to her arrival taking delivery of a new lodge pole bed and her statements are simply untrue. The angel in question hung above the master bed for 15 years and unfortunately we could not find an exact replacement but found one of similar quality for $39.99 not including shipping on ebay. I did not charge her for the broken DVD player as we had planned to upgrade to Blu-ray anyway. I do forgive accidents and do not charge guests when they call and tell me what happened and it was clearly an accident. Negligence is not forgiven.

Great location for all seasons!

  • 5 of 5

This well-maintained Dollar Point home was comfortable for a summer get away to Lake Tahoe. The Dollar Point Homeowner's Beach is a great place to relax, make new friends, catch crawdads, and kayak or paddle board (bring your own). This house was perfectly located for all of our adventures whether rafting the Truckee from Tahoe City or attending the Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor. This was one of the best equipped kitchens in a rental home. When work unexpectedly came up the small office with a printer was a bonus. Our kids loved the mini pool table in the bunk room. The owner was quick to reply to our inquiry and extremely pleasant to deal with. The home is eastward facing so it was lovely to wake up to the sunrise, however the house was dark in the afternoon. This would also be a great house to rent in the winter - across the highway from the Nordic Center and easy access to Northstar.

Happy Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky to stumble across this house 3 years ago, and we have returned every year since...My husband and I and our 2 children LOVE this place - my kids call it our cabin in Tahoe :)

The perfect proximity to the pool, activities for the kiddos, beautiful beach. The deck is our favorite place to come home to in the evening...so much room, so comfortable.

We hope to come back for many years to come!
