Spacious Seclusion for Crafters

  • 4 of 5

We had a girls' getaway weekend to scrapbook and craft, and the Miller Guesthouse was perfect! There are many spacious common areas that even the photos do not capture. We were wowed by not only the size of the living room, but also the entryway, formal dining room, and downstairs bathroom. We brought 3 portable tables that all fit in the living room with PLENTY of room to still get around. If you are staying with teens and kids, the spacious upstairs loft would be nice for them to have their own space as well. We really appreciated all the bedrooms. The sheets even smelled fresh and clean! Really, everything about the house was clean and well maintained.

The kitchen was well equipped with tools, serving ware, pots and pans, and dishes. Since we had planned meals to make during our stay, the high quality gas range was great! The countertop space is limited, but there were so many other positives about the house that I don't mention that as a complaint, rather an FYI in the event you have that need for the kitchen. There is a large dining room table that could be used in lieu of countertop space as well. It also should be noted that there is no automatic dishwasher.

We did come into the weekend knowing we needed internet connection for both work as well as for our scrapbooking needs, so this was a requirement when we looked for a place to stay. This became an issue, which was the only negative thing about our stay. If one device was connected, it was quite slow. Once we put two or more devices on the wireless network, we had failures. Admittedly this was a disappointment as knew we had to be dependent on internet connectivity.

The house sits up on a high hill, which makes you feel more secluded as you are high above the road. It also really made for beautiful sunsets in the living room with the large picture windows. All the natural sunlight on the first floor was very refreshing and certainly helpful for our crafting activities.

During our stay, we did have a minor need. We contacted the housekeeper, and she was quickly responsive and stopped by to address our need. She was very nice and helpful. We are already planning to return in the spring for another girls' reunion!

Nice weekend Get-A-Way

  • 4 of 5

This was a nice weekend with girl friends. We went and ate at all the Amish Restaurants, visit most of the cheese houses, and went to see the play Mennonite Girls Can Cook(@ Dutch Valley)! Then it was nice to come back to a cozy house where we could all sit and watch TV and relax. We also thought that location of this house was perfect not to far from anything. Thanks for a great weekend!

Big, beautiful, clean, centrally located & great views.

  • 5 of 5

Besides the Amish and the picturesque country side the house made our stay so very memorable. The lack of paper towels, washing powder and permission to consume wine was different from other vacation homes we've used but the home felt like a cuuntry mansion. If you've never visited this area and know little about the Amish take one of the local tours. A tour will make your trip much more enjoyable. The Amish folks walking along the road waved greetings at us and smiled and answered questions if they were behind the counters at the shops we visited. And man o man did we ever visit shops. We even got to visit Amish homes and buy skin creams, quilts and baskets as part of the tour. From drinking morning coffee on the porch while watching horse drawn buggies clop by to wine tasting at gold medal wineries to immersing ourselves in Amish culture the trip was more than we expected. It was a great girls week out.

Sister's Week

  • 5 of 5

This is the 22nd year that we have traveled as seven sisters. we have been all over the country and the third time in Amish Country. We recommend this home as a wonderful get away. It has a few a maintenance issues but overall extremely comfortable, clean, close to shopping and grocery/farm markets. Would highly recommend for small or large parties.
