Property description

PLEASE NOTE:

This listing is unavailable until December 1, 2015. The rates for Dec. 2015 are $500/wk and Jan. , and Mar., are $2,400/mo. Feb. 2016 is $2,600/mo.

It is a clean, tidy, no pets, no smoking, single family home in a nice safe and quiet neighborhood close to most all conveniences and attractions you’ll use during your stay. By renting this Chinese decorated home, you won’t be paying “beachfront” rates yet will be only minutes from where you’d like to go in Venice and surrounding areas and saving a bundle of money that you can spend on enjoying yourselves more.

Accommodations:
Located at 270 Dragon Road, Venice, FL. This home is roomy and can comfortably accommodate 4 overnight guests and about 10 guests if you want to throw a party [but quiet enough so you don’t disturb the neighbors.] It consists of exclusive use of a private 2 bedroom and 1 bath, a kitchen, dining area, living room and main front entry.

The second bedroom is set up as a lounge/office/TV room. If you have over-nite guests, they can use the convertible couch [sleeps one large person or 2 small ones] in addition to a portable roll-away bed that also can be used.

The home has a garage, but that is reserved for the owners who store their car and other personal items there. However, you will be allowed to use the washer and dryer in there.

The living room and dining room area is spacious and comfortable. Central air and heat is in every room to add to the comfort of the home.

This home is completely furnished with furniture that is clean, comfortable and of good quality. The rear master bedroom includes one queen size bed, dresser, and a large closets with adequate storage space.

The kitchen is functional and has most of the normal appliances you will find in the average home. The well supplied updated kitchen features a built in microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, range, oven and an assortment of pots/pans, cooking utensils and dishes. If you need a Panini grill, cappuccino machine or Keurig brewer, you’ll have to supply your own.

This home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood with easy, quick access to restaurants, shopping and entertainment. There are several other beaches to explore in the nearby communities of Sarasota and Englewood. Stores such as Publix, Wal-Mart and Target are located within a couple of miles. You'll also want to investigate the unique shops and eateries in historic downtown Venice. All of these places are within a 10 minute drive from the house.

You will love the convenience of this home’s location. Just a couple of miles from the charming and historic downtown area with its quaint and unique shops, old fashion ice cream parlor, coffee shops, restaurants, parks and even live theater. There, you can safely walk along quiet roads to explore coffee shops, boutiques and treat yourselves to an ice cream. Not too much farther are the white sands of Venice Beach.

Drive only 25 minutes north to Sarasota for a more city feel and abundance of cultural activities, sites, restaurants, and more outer beaches. Some of the Sarasota attractions are the Ringling Estate [of the Ringling Brothers Circus] and world class art museum, Jungle Gardens, Van Wezel performing arts center, Mote Marine, Shelby Gardens, St. Armand’s Circle, Lido Beach, and dog racing just to name a few. Or, you are only approx. an hour away from Ft. Myers or Tampa.

Or, you are only approx. an hour away from Ft. Myers or Tampa.

While staying in Venice, days might include: fishing off the beach surf-line, one of the piers or off the inland waterway rock jetties exit to the Gulf, hunting for sharks’ teeth at Casperson Beach, hailed as the shark tooth capital of the world (one of only two beaches in the world where fossilized sharks teeth abound and you can just scoop them up), and even spotting manatees or where turtles nest. Water-sports are available nearby and rental outfitters are plentiful.

Sip a drink with other sunset watchers at Venice Beach, the Venice Pier or Venice Jetties and watch the Dolphins just off-shore playing and rolling in the surf.

Enjoy days or weeks of boating, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving or any number of water oriented sports. The balmy gulf waters leave you with no excuse but to hit the surf. And, hey, if you just want to veg out, quaff a sangria or margarita and ogle the eye-candy, that’s the place to go.

You’ll not want to miss the local Drum Circle held on the beach at nearby Nokomis Beach [see map] every Wednesday and Saturday evenings starting around 2 hours before sunset. There are a variety of people who gyrate to the native rhythms doing belly-dancing, hula hooping, Taiji Dancing, juggling, shapely Wahines [look it up] bump and grind [without the pole] along with some people who just want to let it all hang out in an evening of carefree abandon dancing like no one is watching. :--))

If you want to see what the Drum Circle is, go to YouTube and search for “Nokomis Drum Circle” and it will give you an idea of what goes on there.
Be sure to bring your beach chair, cooler, favorite libation and stay for an evening of entertainment. If you have something to bang on or shake [drum, tambourine, maracas, spoons, 5 gallon paint can, or whatever…bring that too and join us there….all you need do is just keep the beat.

There’s enough golf courses in the area to satisfy most golfer’s needs.
For you day trippers, hikers, and nature enthusiasts, there are numerous state parks and nature preserves within a 25 mile radius where you can go hiking, birding, sightseeing, treetop canopy walking, or just sit around in one of the parks/preserves enjoying your nature surroundings while waiting to see what flies, slithers or comes charging at you out of the wilderness.

For those of you who like an endurance challenge [walk, skip, hop, crawl, rollerblade, bike, Segway or however you propel yourself], you’ll want to start your “tour de force” on the local Venetian Waterway Park Trail starting at Shamrock Park, in south Venice, and connecting to the “Rails to Trails” Legacy Trail [Google these for more details] at the historic Venice Train Depot and extending all the way up to Potter Park in Sarasota.

The Legacy Trail between Sarasota to Venice covers 12 miles and runs along a former CSX Railroad corridor. The trail passes by lovely waterways and includes rest areas with benches and restrooms. A new bypass over US 41 allows for a direct connection with The Venetian Waterway Park Trail at the historic Venice Train Depot.

The Venetian Waterway Park Trail follows along both sides of the Intracoastal Waterway, from the ocean north and somewhat east, past the Venice Airport to north of Venice Avenue. It is flat and often windy, passing through a mix of urban corridor and open green space. Colorful murals, covered rest and picnic areas and interpretive signs dot the way. You will also find playgrounds, fitness stops and parks.

We love our place and all Venice has to offer, and hope you will too [and so will your wallet.]
