New Thanksgiving Tradition
This was a great Thanksgiving weekend and will definitely come back again.
As advertised although other properties are close by
Location of 2 bathrooms in the 2 upstairs bedrooms would make it very awkward for anyone to use them if they were sleeping downstairs
Beautiful, breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Chatuge. The house was very nice and welcoming. Enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Thank you Karin for all you kindness and help.
Super Location but needs work, with updates we'd stay again! Close to everything just old & outdated
Let me start by saying Karen was very nice to work with. This home is decorated with lovely antiques. It does however smell "old" as well. I'm going to outline what was important to us, we were a group of 5 girlfriends out on a weekend mini vacation.
1-beds...not comfortable. They were all hard mattresses. We sleep on temperpedics and are used to softer, forming mattresses. Needless to say we were all tired from rolling around all night. If you like harder beds, you'll love them!
2- kitchen...very nice!!! Updated, new sink, countertops...very pretty. Everything we needed for our weekend. We did not cook this time but think we would've been happy with the items there. Lots of glasses!
3-coffee maker...bring your own or ask if it's updated. She does provide a nice kurig for your use, but we wanted a large pot of coffee, morning and night. This pot was hard to use and small.
4-sunroom...great place to hang out. Needs better furniture. 1 rocker, 1 double recliner and a metal patio set. So someone was always more uncomfortable than others. Even the padded furniture was old and sketchy.
5-lack of comfortable places to sit. We stayed gone just because we couldn't get comfortable in the house. The sofa was an old short back antique with an ottoman. There were 2 old swivel rockers that were short backed so your head has no where to lean. There is an old wooden school desk/chair combo and another chair I can't remember, but none comfortable to hang out and watch tv at night in.
6- tv...don't expect to watch cable, she has the basic package with about 15 channels. We watched the dog show because we couldn't get any shows on. Don't get me wrong, were not there to watch tv, but it is nice to have just to relax with, which is what we were there for.
7- downstairs...scary! This is the 3rd bedroom. It has 2 small antique beds. I am 5'8" and couldn't fit lengthwise on it. She has lots of antiques down there to make it look like a "bedroom" in one corner. The rest of the large room is open, with junk piled in one corner with a curtain hanging behind the junk. The outside wall is all floor to ceiling windows with doors...daytime that is nice but at night a little unnerving for the 2 ladies stuck sleeping down there alone. Some curtains would've been nice.
8-washer/dryer...old clothes, etc.... This really made us feel like we were staying at a friends grandmothers house, not a rental home.
9-no toilet tissue left for replacement rolls
We visit the Blairsville area a couple times a year. This home is in a great location. Spectacular views from the front and back. Spacious home and comfy beds. Kitchen was well stocked. We did a lot of hiking (Mount Yonah, Cowrock Mountain, Raven Cliff Falls) and this was a great retreat in the evenings. Thanks Karin for a memorable Thanksgiving vacation!
Heaven's Roost; A Wonderful Mountain Retreat
Great weekend. Cabin had plenty of room for men to watch football on Saturday afternoon and grnadaughters 9ages 7 and 13) tohave space to themselves and grnadma to wook in the kitchen, without everybody stumbling over each other. Amenities were as advertised on VRBO website, and porch views from the top of the ridge were truly majestic. Fall foliage, nearby horseback riding and local fall festivals, aas well as the Grill at Nearby Brasstown Valley Lodge provided great nearby outings. We'll be back next Fall.
Hi John and Dolores,
Thanks so much for the nice review. This house is new on the rental market and we are still adding amenities to the house, such as more games, videos and a music library. The house is really well situated. Near everything! Golf, tennis, horseback riding, good restaurants! I want to thank you so much for taking care of the house! You and your family are welcome anytime!
