Great Location, Comfortable, Friendly Staff

  • 4 of 5

Convenient access to Tube and local markets with comfortable accommodations. Safe, secure family environment in quiet neighborhood with easy access to all of London. Craig was very pleasant to work with and eager to address our needs. I would book a stay at this property in the future without hesitation.

Perfect apartment for us, in the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Craig and Karim took great care of us and made sure that we were settled in the apartment shortly after our flight landed. Having early access allowed us to recover for a couple of hours before venturing out in the city. The Kensington/High Street location is perfect for families. Very safe, with plenty of restaurant options and Hyde Park right around the corner. The location makes navigating the city on a first trip much easier. The apartment itself sets up well for a family of four. All the modern conveniences, comfortable furniture that isn't so nice that you are worried about how your kids will treat it.

Spacious, comfortable apartment in great location

  • 3 of 5

Our stay did not start off well. The driver we had booked through the managing agent was not at the Customs exit at Heathrow. We finally tracked him down waiting for us in the carpark! Why anyone would imagine that we would be wandering around an airport carpark like lost sheep dragging luggage, was never explained. We assumed that, like all the other drivers standing around at the Customs exit, he would've been there.

The apartment itself is in a super location, in a quiet street, 3 mins. from Kensington High St. underground. We had requested that the beds be set up as one double and one twin, but despite various exchanges of emails on this point, both the bedrooms were set up as doubles. Very irritating indeed, and we had to separate one of the beds and find enough linen for the twin configuration. Not what we wanted to do after a very long flight!

No-one from the agency met us--only the driver. The kitchen leaves quite a bit to be desired. Why there are 2 refrigerators (2 under bench bar fridges) and no dishwasher seemed odd to say the least. There was no tea pot (in England!) & no milk jug, both of which we purchased and hopefully may get refunded one day. Also, no toilet paper in either WC--not even a few sheets left over from previous occupants. Understood that self-catering means just that, but such meanness simply sets a bad tone, and fails to appreciate guests' needs or point of view. A couple of power points and light fixtures weren't working. Very basic kitchen equipment, but OK.

Would we stay there again? Maybe, but chiefly due to its great location. We know London very well, having lived there in the '70s and returning at least annually ever since, so we do know what to expect with sometimes indifferent English standards of equipment, service and hospitality. A very superior-sounding lady from the managing agent endeavoured to make us feel as though we had unrealistic expectations and did not understand the English "way". Such attitudes are not conducive to improving the level of in-bound tourism into a market that we know has dropped somewhat since the recent terrorist attacks. We do business with a number of London-based vacation rental businesses (who did not have an apt. that would have worked for the 4 of us, regrettably), notably A Place Like Home, who are highly professional, efficient, very pleasant and helpful. The managing agents this nice apartment are not doing the owner any favours.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We certainly take on board that the driver could have met you in the arrivals hall. Please accept our apologies for this and we have looked into this to change the drivers' procedures. Regarding the beds, they were made up the way you had asked but pushed together. Our driver, who was also the check in agent on this occasion, was happy to help you pull them apart. About the kitchen - one of the two fridges is in fact a freezer. We understood that it was important for you to have a teapot and a milk jug - which is honestly not as common as you think anymore as we now use teabags mainly. You declined our offer to buy you both pot and jug and bring them with the XL pack of toilet rolls, lightbulbs (for the 2 that were out), kitchen towels and the expensive complimentary bottle of wine. This was done within 2 hours of us receiving your call to inform us of the missing items. Overall I would like to say that we are sorry that you had a bad time but we are convinced that you would have found something else to complain about in order to advertise your own flats (as you told us over the phone you have) which are managed by A Place Like Home. Your message to the owner has failed as we are in fact the owners and not agents.

Great London Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We visited London for a week at the end of August. The apartment was perfect for our family of four. Located on a quiet street yet very close to the Tube and shops on the High Street. The apartment was beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable with high quality linens. They even provided an Amazon fire stick for easy streaming of videos after a tiring day of sight seeing. The kitchen had what we needed--for coffee, tea and toasting up breakfast. Its not the best equipped for cooking a proper meal, but we ate out so that was not an issue. The managers were very attentive and responsive to any issues that came up. Hope to stay there again on our next visit!

Lovely apartment, perfect location, and very helpful agency.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apartment, perfect location, and very helpful agency. The flat is in a very quiet square and just 1/2 a block from the High St., Kensington tube station. You can walk anywhere from the flat. Kensington Gardens is just a few blocks away as is Kensington Palace. The flat was very comfortable, very clean and overall just a delightful place to stay.

You can't beat this location!

  • 4 of 5

After an initial "hiccup", the trip went well: One week prior to arrival, Craig notified us that due to circumstances beyond his control, the flat we had booked was no longer available. He did find us a replacement in the same building. It was similar to the initial one we'd rented, except the bed in the master was smaller. We'd specifically chosen the first flat because of the UK Super King bed. We are used to a US King and the smaller bed in the replacement flat (UK King) wasn't ideal. Other than that, everything was excellent. The flat is in a superb location! It's a quick walk to Kensington-High Street Tube and many restaurants. We loved that there is a Whole Foods close by. The flat was very clean and had everything we needed. We had some warm days while there and the AC worked very well to keep us comfortable. Upon arrival, someone met us just as planned for our morning luggage drop. We were delighted to find that we also were able to take occupancy at that time. After flying all night, it was wonderful to be able to go straight to the flat where we could rest, shower and change clothes for our first day's adventures.
