Walking distance to Railroad Square and other downtown Santa Rosa areas, and a quick drive to dozens of wineries, enjoy all that Sonoma County has to offer. This 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 2100 sq. ft. house is centrally located, making it easy to get to many Sonoma County destinations easily. The colorful and fun decor has a World Traveler theme throughout the house. Enjoy movies on the projector in the living room or watch them on the large TV in the upstairs lounge.
There are four bedrooms: The Gallery Room (with a king-sized futon foam core mattress and en suite bathroom); The Mediterranean Room (with a queen bed); The Nautical Room (with a double bed and desk); The Parisian Room (with a double bed).
The kitchen is well-stocked with a variety of cooking utensils/pots and pans/microwave/toaster/coffee maker/electric kettle. Kitchen appliances include dishwasher, 5 burner stove/oven and large refrigerator. The house has an excellent heating system (radiant) with four separate thermostats. The laundry room has an extra large washer and a dryer.
In the back yard, there is an outdoor grill, picnic table that can easily seat ten people and a fire pit with chairs for six.
Each bedroom and bathroom has a decor theme, with whimsical touches throughout. We have traveled more than many, having spent a year in India and a year in Ireland, and there are photos/lamps/pictures/other decor brought back from our adventures scattered around the house.
There is an extensive library of DVD's available for viewing (blockbuster/rom com/sci fi/fantasy/art house/family) on the projector (in the living room) or on the large TV in the upstairs lounge. There is also a wide range of books available (on the living room bookshelves) for reading. The stereo downstairs has an excellent sound system (for movies and music) and an internet radio player. WiFi is available throughout the house. There is NO cable TV.
Santa Rosa Creek/Prince Memorial Greenway runs within two blocks of the house; it is a wonderful trail for walking/running/biking.
Our onsite manager (who lives on the property in the guest house) will welcome you to your home away from home, show you how to use various appliances and electronics, and be available for any questions or problems.
We moved to Santa Rosa after spending several years in downtown San Francisco. We needed a place to raise our young children and Sonoma County seemed a perfect place to land. We recently moved to NYC because my husband started a new job in Manhattan.
I love traveling and meeting new people. We spent a year in Ireland and a year in India and our Santa Rosa home contains many objects (photos/pictures/lamps/decor) obtained during our overseas adventures.
We love California and our Sonoma County life, but we had to jump at the chance to experience NYC, as well.
Before having children I had several careers (dress design, sales and marketing). We decided that I would stop working full-time while raising our four children. I am currently working on my first Young Adult novel, a coming-of-age story about an 11 YO boy living as an expat in India.
Heather Herron-Libson purchased this house in 2009
Moving here from SF, I was looking for walkability. I also wanted to be on a street that wasn't very busy, since our children were very small at the time.
We chose Santa Rosa because of its perfect weather (even more perfect than SF), its proximity to SF (only an hour north, so still easy to enjoy various cultural attractions like symphony and opera) and its amazing lifestyle (easy access to outdoor activities, great food, great wine, the coast, festivals, etc).
This house in particular is a perfect location to launch from if you really want to enjoy Sonoma County. Right off Hwy 101 and Hwy 12, you can get to most parts of the county quickly and easily. Enjoy the benefits of a city (close to shops and restaurants, walkability) while also being in the middle of an amazing agricultural area. Santa Rosa offers trails, parks, museums, Snoopy's Home Ice, excellent restaurants, Imwalle's (local farmer's shop), Oliver's (local grocer-- like Whole Foods, but nicer staff). So much to see and do, really close by!
The house is very cute and quite spacious. Being close to downtown and the 101 was convenient. The house had all of the necessities one would need. However, there is no cable tv and no signal.
There were some issues and concerns with the cleaning of the house and linens. Although the owner was not on site, she was very attentive and quick to respond to our immediate concerns. We enjoyed our stay.
This home was a pleasure to stay at because it had everything we needed and lots of space to spread out. We stayed here for a week before our wedding with our bridal party and it was so convenient to all together and fun to be close to downtown and everywhere we needed to go. The property manager Sasha was pleasant and available whenever we had a question. The house was fun with its decor and our friends will be talking about it for years to come. Thank you Heather for having us! We loved it and will definitely be back!
We recently rented this house over the Christmas holiday to house many of our family visiting for the holidays. The whole house worked well for the 8 of us. Everyone had a place to sleep, close to downtown, kitchen was fully outfitted, and it was overall very comfortable. The owner and caretaker were very accommodating and helpful. Had a great time and would definitely stay here again.
House is very spacious, and nicely decorated with the owner's travels. It is close to malls (and outlet), and grocery shops. We came from multiple places and most of us actually arrived on the eve before our planned booking. Owner is very accommodating in letting us check in a day before. We had hot water problem on first day but housekeeper was responsive in having it fixed. Owner is very informative in sharing the spots in the area.
We had a great time in Santa Rosa staying at this home. There was plenty of room for our 8 family members and the house was clean and nicely decorated. Four of us ran the half marathon and the house was in the perfect location, only 3/4 mile from the start line. Also, the house is close to downtown entertainment and shopping as well as wine and beer tasting.
We would definitely stay at this house again.
I rented this sweet little house for my daughters, grandchildren, and myself. It was really comfortable and we appreciated the easy access to HWY 12 and to downtown Santa Rosa. I was also pleased that the kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, storage bags, etc. I have not found this to be the case in most rental houses. It was really helpful to have the manager of the property right next door. He was readily available to help me with my internet connection and other questions that arose during our stay. The children enjoyed the video collection and the fun décor. (Every room has a theme.) They are hoping we can go back next year, as they loved the house. All in all, a great stay!
Sonoma County is noted for wineries, weddings, cycling, wonderful restaurants, foot races (half marathons, marathons, 10K, etc), sightseeing in SF and along the coast (Marin to Mendocino).
