The owner Dermot is from Ireland where he previously ran a successful Bed and Breakfast. Several years ago he moved to Guanajuato and fell in love with this magical, romantic city. Over the past year Dermot has worked extensively on renovating Casa Pipila to maintain its Mexican charm and character. Dermot enjoys sharing his wealth of knowledge surrounding Guanajuato and can help with any enquires. He often takes guests for free walking tours around the city - just ask him!
We can accommodate for short term and long term stays. If you are looking to stay for a month or longer please message us for our 'special' long term rates. We are happy to recommend or arrange other services around town such as Spanish schools, Tours, Buses, Real Estate, etc.
Please email us with any questions or requests you may have. It would be our pleasure to accommodate you.
-Guanajuato is a Unesco Heritage Site, 4 hours from Mexico City and a day trip away by bus to San Miguel and León.
-The apartment is a 5 minute walk to the Beautiful Historic Center, Callejon del Beso, and a 6 minute walk to the Pipila statue and the cable car.
-We are a 15 minutes walk or a $3 taxi ride away from a cinema and large supermarket with international wines and foods.
Guanajuato is located in a narrow valley with small streets and lots of stairs that wind up the mountainside. While this makes up a lot of the cities charm, it unfortunately means our apartments are not wheel chair accessible or appropriate for people who may have difficulty with stairs (both uphill and downhill).

I moved here from Ireland 4 years ago because I fell in love with Guanajuato. I worked in the hospitality business for years and I love meeting new people. I will be very happy to share with you all my favorite places here in this magical, romantic city.
Dermot purchased this Apartment in 2013
Why Dermot chose Zona Centro
I chose this property for the large outdoor space and the breathtaking views. From the garden terrace you can hear the music of the alleyway singers, the Callejonadas, just down the street. It has a great ambiance day and night.
What makes this Apartment unique
Each apartment has a spectacular view of the city. The kitchens and decor are all traditional Mexican style and have been recently renovated to maintain its Mexican charm.

Fabulous birds eye view of the city
Lovely apartment, well maintained, great host. Thoroughly enjoyed my time in Pipila casa, just sorry I had to leave after only 5 days. Next time I will stay longer.
Hi Lyn,thanks very much for your kind words,it was a pleasure having you here. You have a great sense of humor, you are a lovely lady, and i look forward to seeing you again soon. All the best, Dermot
It is about the view
Having been to Guanajuato 4 previous times, I knew what I wanted and how many steps it would take. Dermot’s place has a great view. The two French doors in the living room and dinning area were perfect. We kept the doors open and I moved my chair right to the edge to enjoy the view as I did my work via computer. But, there was also a great view from the kitchen sink. We like to go to market and cook. What a pleasure to live in this environment. The bedrooms were fine. They were without a view but they were quieter . Guanajuato can be loud at night. A very safe and good neighborhood. But do pay attention to Dermot's warning about the steps. There are 100 steps plus ramps down to the apartment from the street above. There are more than 100 to the city below. No railings. The steps are not even and can be steep. So this place is not for everyone. But if you do adventure here, you will be rewarded. Dermot was a great host.
What an amazing location. We could have stayed in the apartment all day and made that our vacation but we wandered away and always happy to come home to CP!
Truly felt like We were home!
George & Paty
George and Paty were fantastic guests,i really enjoyed chatting with them. They were funny, easy going, and fun. They were so friendly and they loved the great views and the outdoor space. You are welcome back anytime.Next time we will have a drink together on the patios:)
Quaint apartment with fantastic views of the city!
We arrived to Guanajuato from San Miguel de Allende on a Friday afternoon and left on Sunday (wish we could have stayed longer). The property was easy to locate due to Dermot´s very detailed directions with pictures. The property is accessed via quite a few steps after parking so pack light or plan on a few trips to your car and back. Dermot has a book containing great recommendations for dining and other things to do in the city (Los Campos is fabulous). Plenty of space for two couples and the shared patio space is terrific. We enjoyed walking into town as well as back up to the apartment. If you do not like going up stairs, taxis were plentiful in the city to get a lift back up. My husband and I enjoy walking and exploring so found it fun to find different paths down/up the callejones (alleys) to the apartment. The funicular is also a cheap option.
As with most places we have traveled in Mexico the WiFi is hit or miss. We just roll with it.
As others noted, there are roof dogs close by but that is just something that is common throughout Mexico. We have gotten used to it and it was no problem. I actually though the neighbor dogs were adorable!! :)
Thanks for sharing your space!
Thanks Colleen for your kind comments. One thing i wanted t say is that the wifi was out for one day due to v windy conditions.I have fibre optic cables and have had a few digital nomads who were impressed with quality of the wifi signal.Download and upload speeds are available on request.Im glad you enjoyed your stay in this magical festive town
Spent 8 days days casa Pipila and enjoyed every one of them. Martin was very helpful. Thanks Martin for being there for us. The only drawback is the stairs which we knew about going in. I believe it just added to the ambiance of the unique city of Guanajuato. A short walk to the center of town and a steep hike back. My Grandsons and i walked back to the Apartment 2 and 3 times a day, enjoyed the challenge and i am 78 years old. would not hesitate to stay at Casa Pipila again.
Dermot, Martin and Israel made sure our stay at Casa Pipila was great. Fine location, terrific view and perfectly good amenities. We look forward to our next stay. There is so much to see, do and hear!
It is important to note that Guanajuato is located in a narrow valley with small streets and lots of stairs that wind up the mountainside. While this makes up a lot of the cities charm, it unfortunately means our apartments are not wheel chair accessible or appropriate for people who may have difficulty with stairs (both uphill and downhill). We strongly recommend that when guests first arrive and walk down to the town that they take a taxi ($3 max) back up to their apartment to ensure they don't get lost in the winding streets. This doubles as a scenic tour through the amazing tunnel network underneath the town. Details on how to do this are available in the guest arrival booklet available in your apartment. Checkin is from 3pm to 10pm We dont accepts pets or children under 7,sorry
