This rental cottage was a perfect fit for our family. We needed something large enough to fit and sleep our extended family of 10, and this worked great. The beds were very comfortable. There was a large table in the dining area that fit us all. The cottage was cute and not too fancy, which was exactly what we wanted. The only downside for us was that the water edge area was down a somewhat steep hill that was not easy for our mom to navigate up and down, but other than that we felt right at home and will be staying there again next year. Grocery store was close just in town, the cottage was clean and neat, the owner was easy to get a hold of and easy to work with and we would recommend this to our friends and family. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us! We loved our time there!
This is a wonderful cottage for the whole family. We spent a week here last year and this year. My grandkids had a blast. The beach is probably the best on the lake for young families because you have to cross the road and walk down the hill to the water. The beach area is large with a fire pit and plenty of room to beach our kayaks. Fish can be caught from the dock by the little ones. Plenty of sleep poo ing area and the cottage has everything and more for a fun relaxing week. The kitchen is well equipped and there are games and books aplenty. I think my sister laughed through 4 Evanovich novels. Hope to go again in 2017.
Upon arrival, before opening door the smell of mildew was overpowering. It got worse inside, the smell of mold and mildew in the house was unbearable.
We opened all the windows, put all the fans on, but the smell did not cease.
In the back of the laundry room were a heap of damp towels on a card table, green mold is growing all over the house, inside and out.
I have a home on Lake St. Clair so I understand what moisture from the lake can do to a house, but this house has issues that need to be addressed.
Ants, ants everywhere.
Thankfully we brought a large cooler, we emptied cold items to fridge and put dry items in cooler to prevent an ant attack. 2 days after arriving back home we have found ants in the garage (some made it into my house) where I made everyone leave their bags so I can launder everything.
Although the owner informed us that the deck furniture may not be out, as it was out and splintering and corroding we did bring our own chairs and tables which was where we spent most of our stay due to the smell of the house.
It's a shame because the layout (other then house tipping to one side) is pretty cool for renters. It has plenty of beds and 2 bathrooms.
The lake is about 200' from the front door.
We did not venture far from area, my daughters wedding was at Camp Newaygo, we did visit the Old Dam Inn, which is at the entrance of Emerald Drive.
The Inn is stunning, clean and updated.
When we first started searching homes in the area for this wedding it was a tedious task, 1st home sold 31 days before our arrival, I found this one and was excited to get there, but after the Ants and mold we cut our stay short.
We really enjoyed our stay at your cottage Mary. The grandkids had a great time and caught a lot of nice pike & a few bass. The property was exactly as described. The only drawback was I (Ken)had to Stay at my brothers with our little dog every night. Thank you for our $250.00 refund. Thanks again, Ken & Joyce
This was a very comfortable and practical rental for us visiting our family for a reunion. Everything we needed was there and we loved the lake and canoes and fishing. We are in our 70s and we loved it. The Seasons restaurant in Fremont was great and we were close to Muskegon and Grand Rapids for more enjoyment.
Thank you Mary and Jolene, we hope to do it again.
