Good place near St Louis University

  • 4 of 5

This was a very comfortable, well appointed house. Everything was clean and well tended. We all enjoyed the tasteful, homey décor. The home is situated among a cluster of similar homes; it doesn't sit among a row of houses, which is what most people would expect. This isn't a criticism--I'm only pointing it out because it's a little hard to find with just the address.

On the first floor is the living room, dining area (with seating for four), and the kitchen. There are plenty of plates, glasses, and silverware. A dishwasher and microwave are provided. The host provides a coffee maker and filters, but bring your own coffee. There's a half bath on this floor as well. This floor also provides access to the garage and rear parking area, but we found that the parking area in front was sufficient. The wi-fi was strong, and there were three televisions overall. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are upstairs. (Keep this in mind if there are elderly people in your party, as was the case with me, because there's no way to bathe downstairs.) The beds were very comfortable, but I wish the owner had splurged a little more on the pillows, which were too limp for my liking. The carpet was exceptionally soft, and the bedrooms were large. Something to keep in mind is that the air conditioning works wonderfully downstairs, but it doesn't cool the upstairs very well. Heat doesn't bother me that much, even in June, so the ceiling fans were enough for me. That might not be the case for everyone, though, especially those who like to sleep in low temperatures.

The home is centrally located to most STL attractions, but I'd strongly recommend you have a car. Both HWY 44 and HWY 64 are minutes away. The Central West End and Forest Park are about ten minutes away. With the exception of SLU, no STL attractions are within walking distance. A Family Dollar Store and a grocery store (a Sav-a-Lot, I think) are a couple of minutes away if you forget anything. The only walkable restaurants are a Subway, a McDonalds, a wing place, and chop suey place. Again, I recommend that you have a car. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, so if you're a runner or walker, you can follow those pursuits with ease.

We're pretty self-sufficient, so we didn't need any service from the property manager. The rules and instructions (e.g., the entry system) were clearly stated. We all enjoyed our stay and would come here again.

Great townhome close to city

  • 4 of 5

We were in Saint Louis for the Cards-Cubs game and concert. Our townhome was just perfect for a weekend get away. Taxis/Ubers from the city were all less than $10. The rooms were clean and quaint. One of the bedroom TVs was a little difficult to turn on, but other than that everything was great! Looking forward to staying again!

Great House! Close to everything!

  • 4 of 5

The Park Avenue House was a great location for our family get away to St. Louis. It was so close to everything we wanted to see....within about 10 miles. We were able to visit the Arch, Old Courthouse, Zoo, City Museum, Crown Candy Kitchen, Anheuser Busch Brewery, Whitehaven and Ted Drewes Frozen Custard! We even hit up IKEA because it was so close to the house. The house had plenty of towels and supplies and it was nice to have a garage to park in at night! The updates were fabulous and the shower hot! Will definitely recommend to anyone headed to St. Louis!

Good location, close to everything!

  • 4 of 5

Lovely old area of St Louis, near park and easy to get to anywhere. Place is nice, but both queen mattresses were well worn. The upstairs floor creeked so much it woke up the kids on the sofa bed if we got up. It was very clean & there were basic kitchen supplies. Grocery store around the corner & good ice cream down the street.
