We are located just 15 miles south of sunny Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, only minutes from one of the world's best snorkel and shore dive sites, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, the Place of Refuge. Our farm is a great base from which to explore the Kona Coast as well as Volcanoes National Park. To view our availability calendar as well as to find more information on our rental, scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on the link under 'Links to more information'.
We grow 100% Kona coffee on our farm. We have several orchards organized in rows on the hill side as well as several plantings in the shade of tall macadamia nut trees. Our farm is lined with nearly 200 macadamia nut trees that provide us with a bountiful harvest. In addition to the coffee and nuts, we have many varieties of fruit trees.
We have Golden Globe mangos, Hayden mangos, papayas, pineapples, guava, passionfruit, lychee, cherimoya, soursop, lime, sour orange, pomegranate, avocado, bananas, figs, coconuts, monstera, rose apples, custard apples and noni. We also grow cocoa and kukui nut. Our farm features unique lava rock out croppings as well as beautiful varieties of palm trees and flowers.
Every guest is treated to a tour of the farm. We will show you how we process the coffee and care for the trees. When you arrive, you will have a bouquet of freshly picked flowers as well as an assortment of in season fruits from our farm.
The Tree Top Apartment is a private second floor apartment with ocean and mountain views. The apartment is completely separate and private from the owner's home. The cathedral ceilings, sky light, stained glass window and sliding glass door to the lanai invite in the sun and outdoors to the apartment. At approximately 750 square feet, the apartment accommodates four people. Our farm is at a comfortable 1000 foot elevation so air conditioning is not needed. We are blessed with warm sunny days and evenings perfect for sleeping.
There is a master bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with two twin beds. The two bedrooms and the kitchen have ceiling fans. The living room has a TV, DVD player, VCR and CD player. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals while you are in paradise. We have dedicated wireless high speed internet access. You have easy parking next to your own private entrance. We also have boogie boards, umbrellas and beach chairs for you to borrow.

About Owner
Originally from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, we moved to the Big Island to live our dream of owning a coffee farm and vacation rental. We first visited Hawaii while on our honeymoon. Like most people, we fell in love with the islands and dreamed of living in paradise. For two of our visits to the Big Island, we stayed at the farm. It was our ideal home in Hawaii. We could farm coffee and macadamia nuts and run a vacation rental. When we came to the Big Island to find a place to live, we booked a rental on the farm that would become our home. We hoped to find a house to rent, but would have been happy with a condo that had a lanai for us to spend time outside. We were so excited when the owner told us he was looking to sell the farm. We knew then that is was meant to be.

Why Owner chose Honaunau-Napoopoo
We chose to buy our Kona coffee farm in Captain Cook on the Big Island of Hawaii for many reasons: perfect weather, gorgeous ocean, beautiful landscape, breathtaking sunsets, happy, friendly people. ALOHA SPIRIT

Exactly what we were looking for!
We loved staying here! The place is private, yet close to Captain Cook for whatever you might need. The kitchen is well stocked with untensils, small appliances, condiments, etc...the thing we loved the most was the covered porch! It a fabulous place to relax for morning coffee & evening cocktails. It also offered up some fabulous sunset views over the ocean. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Great stay :)
My husband and I and our 13-year-old son stayed at Todd’s apartment in March. We really enjoyed our stay here. We prefer to stay “like the locals” rather than in big hotels. The place was clean and comfortable. This is truly a farm, with a rutted and rocky drive to the houses. We did have a small SUV, and I would not feel comfortable maneuvering this drive without a vehicle that has decent ground clearance (I have driven on a lot of farm roads, familiar with them). We loved the very open feel of the apartment. Note it does not have heating or cooling capability (to my knowledge) other than fans and windows--pretty much at the mercy of the elements. This worked great for us in March—not too hot or too cold, but if you are not up to this lack of climate control, you may want a hotel. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and very usable. The bathroom is long and narrow, with a shower head best suited for someone shorter than 5’6”, but it worked. The outdoor patio/deck is terrific, but we could not use it in the evening, because even in March there are mosquitoes, and I am a mosquito magnet. The second bedroom is only accessed from the front porch; that might be a problem for someone with young kids. Todd directed us to a nice snorkeling place as well as a family beach (which are not one and the same on the Big Island! Coastline is very rocky), and we found others with guide books. We would definitely stay again!
We are so pleased Annie and her family enjoyed their stay. We loved it here so much as guests, we bought the farm! To address some items she noted of concern: The drive way is not rutted. We are a farm and the driveway is lava rock and partially paved. Drive slow and there is no problem. We recently had a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary who had a compact car rental and had no issue. The access to the second bedroom is from the lanai only. We received a VRBO request from Annie for 3 adults. It was not until Annie arrived that we knew they had a 13 year old son. We always detail the apartment layout to prospective guests prior to booking when we are alerted they have a child. We are a farm on a tropical island where spring brings increased rain. The rain makes the plants grow and the insect population increase. We provide effective repellent as well as a mosquito lantern on the lanai. We do our best to control the population of mosquitoes but mosquitoes are part of a tropical island just like skunks are part of the environment in many locations on the mainland. We feel we are a truly 5 star private coffee farm apartment in rural Hawaii. We are not competing with 5 star hotels along the dry lava field coast. That is like comparing papayas and mangoes. A hotel stay is a completely different event that staying on a farm. A trip to Hawaii is too significant to not select the right accommodation for your needs. There is no other equivalent rental available for our price. Our rate is a great deal for a 2 bedroom private apartment, lanai, fully stocked kitchen, linens, farm grown Kona coffee, fruits, beach equipment, private gas grill, washer and dryer. If you are looking forward to an authentic rural Hawaii experience with privacy and natural beauty, we will be a perfect fit :-)
Todd was a very nice person, took us on a tour of his farm. Explained so many things we didn't know.
The apartment had everything we needed. The best Lanai ever, Great kitchen, Very comfy bed, beautifully decorated. We hated to leave, We'd love to stay again !!
Quiet place far from the crowd
My husband and I had the pleasure to spend 2 weeks at Killino farm. We really enjoyed the quietness of our condo, the friendliness of the owners (and Louis the dog), and the beauty of the surrounding.
The coffee and the fruits from the farm were so delicious!..
The kitchen is well equipped with lots of condiments, dish soap, blender, rice cooker,, etc...
We also made good use of their beach chairs, beach towels, a cooler, thermos bottles, snorkling equipment, books about big island.
The driveway is a bit tricky, but easy to master after a few run.
The only think we regret about our stay at Killino farm is that time passed too fast..... we really hope to come back soon...

We loved Killino Farm
We just returned from a wonderful week at Killino Farm. The apartment was immaculately clean and was very well equipped. The farm is really quite lush with flowering trees and many types of fruit trees. Todd was always very hospitable and informative concerning local sites to see. The use of beach chairs and towels along with a great little cooler made all of our excursions that much better. A real bonus is the proximity of Killino Farm to Two Step beach. It is a fantastic snorkelling site only a ten minute drive away. Also, lots of great stores and restaurants in Captain Cook village which is another ten minute drive from Killino Farm.
Very private - the apartment is separate from the family home. Great lanai - we enjoyed spending our evenings there.
No mosquitoes or biting insects while we were there.
Highly recommended for two or four people.
Private Relaxing Coffee Farmstay
We loved this private apartment on this quiet and secluded coffee farm. We were greeted by Todd, the enthusiatic owner with a bowl of freshly picked fruit and a flower bouquet. And of course our apartment was supplied with farm produced coffee. We so enjoyed our farm tour, learning about growing coffee (much more information than I have ever learned on multiple previous coffee plantation tours). Additionally, there was cacao and macademia nut growth to view.
Our apartment was comfortable, the second floor location providing a great view of the ocean. The owner residence and the apartment are totally separated by, interestingly enough, a remnant lava flow wall, which in itself a fascinating geologic feature in this otherwise lush landscape. The covered deck lanai was the perfect place to drink morning coffee, or viewing the stunning sunsets, and enjoying dinner. The kitchen was well supplied and easy to use.
The recommended nearby bay has the best snorkeling, both with water clarity and coral and sea life, I have seen on multiple previous visits to the Big Island. Once we became familiar with the long driveway, it posed no impediment to our access to the apartment, and we freely came and went as needed. However, I recommend that guests avail themselves of the excellent directions provided directly by the owner and plan to initially arrive prior to darkness. I was unable to open the directions from the VRBO website, which is a problem the VRBO site should fix.
We totally loved our stay, and will plan a repeat stay, should our travel plans take us to the Kona Coast in the future.
Location
Our rental is located in an Agricultural based area. Best snorkeling on the island is located within minutes. Swimming with wild dolphins and turtles in their natural environment. Previous guests with and without snorkeling experience rave about their trips to the nearby beach.
