Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4). Additional housing options available
Originally from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, we moved to the Big Island to live our dream of owning a coffee farm and vacation rental. We first visited Hawaii while on our honeymoon. Like most people, we fell in love with the islands and dreamed of living in paradise. For two of our visits to the Big Island, we stayed at the farm. It was our ideal home in Hawaii. We could farm coffee and macadamia nuts and run a vacation rental. When we came to the Big Island to find a place to live, we booked a rental on the farm that would become our home. We hoped to find a house to rent, but would have been happy with a condo that had a lanai for us to spend time outside. We were so excited when the owner told us he was looking to sell the farm. We knew then that is was meant to be.

Why Owner chose Captain Cook
We chose to buy our Kona coffee farm in Captain Cook on the Big Island of Hawaii for many reasons: perfect weather, gorgeous ocean, beautiful landscape, breathtaking sunsets, happy, friendly people. ALOHA SPIRIT

Great location and welcoming stay
Todd and Kimberly were very good with communications. Todd was very welcoming on our arrival. All was as expected or exceeded expectations. We were provided a farm tour, some fresh fruit and Kona coffee. The kitchen was easily and adequately stocked for preparing meals. We very much appreciated the available snorkel gear, towels and cooler. Our AWD intermediate SUV was adequate for the driveway. Location was great for our many island explorations. We enjoyed the relatively local Coffee Shack, Manago Hotel lunch, Greenwell tour, Painted Church, Big Island Bee Farm, nighttime swim with manta rays and sunset from the lanai. Snorkeling at 2 Step was great, but water access requires navigating rough rocks and water. Ho’okena Beach had easier water access. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs and mask as there are bright sunrises and (wonderful) symphony of nature sounds.
My girlfriend and I had the best time at the coffee farm, Todd was a great host and gave us an excellent tour our first morning. Very close to the best snorkeling, beaches and surfing the island has to offer, will definitely be coming back again in the future, Mahalo!
Captain Cook Farm.
The place was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The lanai has very comfortable chairs and a big table so we could sit there having dinner with the candles and watch beautiful sunsets. It was very easy to contact the owner when we had a question. He gave us an interesting tour of his farm and brought coffee and a fruit. We also met his nice family.
The only thing I would like to suggest for renters who plan to stay at this farm is to rent a four wheel drive or high clearance vehicle because to get to the farm is a challenge since it located at the very end of a driveway. The driveway is shared by several owners and not all keep it maintained unfortunately. You easily can damage your car. Otherwise we had a good time. MAHALO.
Repeat just as good
This was the second year in a row that I stayed here. It was as great as the first year.
Coffee farm vacation
I enjoyed staying at Killino Farms in Honaunau. It brought back many happy memories of growing up in South Kona. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. The grounds were lush. The many fruit trees, flowers and, of course, the coffee. The lanai is great to enjoy the sunset and sit listening to the rain Todd, the owner, was very accommodating and
helpful. Killino Farms is a great place to experience life in South Kona and away from the busy resorts.
Relaxing sounds of nature
Enjoyable mornings drinking the farm’s Kona coffee. Enjoyable evenings watching the sunset.
I truly loved the soothing sounds of nature.
Our rental is located in an Agricultural based area. Best snorkeling on the island is located within minutes. Swimming with wild dolphins and turtles in their natural environment. Previous guests with and without snorkeling experience rave about their trips to the nearby beach.
