Self-contained apartment attached to a grand old house in a picturesque village
Hugh and Ann have lived at The Grange in Saltwood since 1980; the house is one of the largest in the village. The house is supposed to be the dower house to Saltwood Castle. We are now both retired from busy medical careers. We have 4 daughters and 7 grandchildren who keep us very busy. The Annex is surplus to requirements now except when all the family is visiting, so has become a seperate two bedroom flat with all amenities suitable for letting.

The Annex is attached to The Grange - a grand old house set in picturesque grounds and historically thought to be the dower house to Saltwood Castle which is 500 yards down the road. The Annex is a self-contained flat, fully-equipped with everything to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. This dwelling has its own entrance, and parking directly outside on a private drive. The Annex would comfortably accomodate 2 couples or a family of 4. There is one large double room and a smaller room which can be a single or twin. Downstairs there is an entrance hall; living/dining room; small kitchen; shower room/toilet; and utility room.
What makes this Apartment unique
Guests will have exclusive use of the flat with it's private entrance. There is a gravel drive directly outside which would comfortably accomodate two vehicles. The living/dining room has a table and four chairs; a sofa; and television. There is a small fully-equipped kitchen with fridge; electric hob/oven; microwave; kettle and toaster, and a complete set of crockery; cutlery; cooking utensils etc. The utility room has a washing machine, tumble dryer and a freezer - the latter is shared with the host family. Tea, coffee, milk and cerials will be provided. If you would like a breakfast box at additional cost please liaise with the host family.

Lovely weekend break
Lovely little annexe in a very peaceful location. Everything we wanted to hand. Great. Owners very hospitable. Would come again.

a warmly wellcome, a well eqiupped kitchen-livingroom between the windows to see the morning sun and sunset between old trees. Birds give you an concert to begin a happy day, when you leave for a daytrip to gardens, parks, castels, beach or shopping, be glad to come back home and spend a lovely evening on the green in front of the door or leisurely indoor.
Wonderful location and well equipped
We wanted a two bedroom rental as we had two young children. This annex was perfect. The kitchen was well equipped and our welcome was wonderful, thank you. We had dinner at the pub in the village and the fish was lovely and fresh. We could've have ask for more :)
Prima verblijf gehad in cosy huisje met prachtige tuin!
Mooi en "British cosy" huisje, wat vastzit aan prachtig Engels landhuis met grote tuin eromheen. Kinderen hebben zich goed vermaakt op grote trampoline! Mooie omgeving om te wandelen, de kust (met kiezelstrand) is op loopafstand. Heel vriendelijke en behulpzame host.
Ein wunderbarer Ort zum Loslassen und Auftanken
Eine gepflegte, funktional und gemütlich eingerichtete Ferienwohnung, in der es an nichts fehlte, eine ruhige, angenehme Umgebung - und nicht zuletzt äußerst zuvorkommende und humorvolle, freundliche und hilfsbereite Vermieter.
Alles da was man braucht!
Wir haben eine Woche zu dritt in der Wohnung verbracht. Sie liegt sehr nah am Fährhafen von Dover. Es war sehr sauber und gepflegt. Die Küche hat alles was man braucht, sogar einen Backofen. Die Kühltruhe war in der Kammer nebenan.
Sogar ein leckeres frisches Brot und diverse Frühstückscerealien sowie Milch und Orangensaft waren für uns eingekauft.
Wir wurden sehr freundlich von Ann empfangen. Sie wohnt nebenan und steht jederzeit für Fragen zur Verfügung. Wir können die Wohnung absolut weiterempfehlen.
Für Familie mit ganz kleinen Kindern ist die steile Treppe eventuell ein Problem. Aber selbst da gibt es einen Treppenschutz der bei Bedarf benutzt werden kann. Es ist eigentlich an alles gedacht. Unser Sohn durfte jederzeit in den riesigen Garten hinter dem Haus auf dem Trampolin hüpfen. Ein großer Spielplatz ist gleich nebenan.
The Grange is in the picturesque village of Saltwood - set in peaceful and pretty countryside - 2 miles from the sea.
The Annex is directly opposite the fields of Saltwood farm through which the church grounds can be accessed. There is plenty of routes for rambling. In the village there is a local shop; The Castle Pub; and a bistro/restaurant 'Saltwood on the Green' which offers brunch/lunch/dinner using locally-sourced produce and comes highly recommended!
Five minutes away is the Cinque Port town of Hythe with it's beautiful canal, and pebble beaches where you can enjoy an icecream! There you will find many cafes and restaurants and some lovely quaint shops to explore. On the beach there is a fish market with it's own cafe (Grigg's) which is not to be missed.
Local nearby attractions include: Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (3 miles); Sene Valley golf course (3 miles), Port Lympne Wild Animal Park (6 miles); Lympne Castle (4 miles); Dover Castle (16 miles) and the historic city of Canterbury (17 miles). There are a lot of fascinating historic sites nearby and plenty of activities available (e.g. rowing boats (on the canal); tennis; water sports; swimming; biking; walking etc
