A fantastic property
A clean, comfortable and well-equipped property. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely consider staying here again.
Lovely family get away
We loved the house and venue for our family reunion and the grandchildren loved the en-suite all to themselves. There is plenty of space to get away from the chaos of lots of people, but also plenty of room to come together. There were a couple of issues, one being the gas stove had 2 burners not working which was reported to the owners. However the worst one for me was the uncomfortable mattress, I felt every spring and hardly slept. Can I recommend replacing the mattress on the single bed in the back room. Otherwise perfect!
Lovely group house with some entertaining games
A group of 10 adults stayed there and we had a brilliant time. Bedrooms are fine and warm, enough bathrooms and the communal areas are lovely and large and comfortable. Good parking availability and basically ideal for what we wanted. Would definitely go back
Spacious, fully equipped, plenty of bathrooms and living areas. Few hiccups but resolved quickly.
Spacious property. Plenty of bathroom facilities. Kitchen fully equipped. Great having two living areas with two TVs.
A few disappointing hiccups
- some cups, glasses & pots in cupboard were gritty presumably from previous tenants not checking if dish washer had cleaned properly or not
- kettle broke but was replaced quickly
- internet became unavailable but was fixed quickly.
- there’s no razor socket to recharge tooth brushes so bring an adapter.
Otherwise we had a great stay.
Local pub red lion , friendly and cosy.
Local shop, cute, friendly, good for any basic essentials you may have forgotten.
Good walks in the area.
Other places visited short drive away
- tideswell, bakewell, castleton, derwent dam
Great house, great location
We liked the house, very clean, very convenient. Reception could be further improved if we would have been met by somebody when arriving.
Lovely house. Great location.
House is situated on the edge of Litton village which has one pub and nearby Tideswell which has a couple of pubs and a restaurant. You can go on some breathtaking walks direct from the house. I loved the light and airy atrium at the entrance to the house and the outdoor space was lovely to catch the sunshine. My recommendation would be a BBQ and some quality mattresses.
Litton is a picturesque chocolate box village, popular with walkers and has a highly regarded dog friendly pub serving food with additional outdoor seating on the green and a village shop. Litton is within walking distance of Tideswell, famed for its "Cathedral of the Peak" Tideswell is a charming village with many amenities including pubs, cafés, post office, second hand bookshop, butcher's greengrocer's and gift shops. There are miles and miles of country walks literally from your doorstep and good bus links to other towns and villages.
The Peak District is a beautiful region with miles and miles of country walking, climbing, cycling and all kinds of outdoor pursuits on your doorstep. Hire a bicycle at Blackwell Mill or Hassop Station and ride through the newly opened tunnels between Buxton and Bakewell on the Monsal trail, visit historic Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, wander through the local market towns of Bakewell and Buxton, swim in an outdoor heated swimming pool at Hathersage, experience a natural Cavern in Castleton, there are many things to see and do.
The Peak District is also a good base for exploring the Heart of England and North of England and for visiting Alton Towers. There are lots of country pubs in our region, many that also accept dogs and serve fabulous food. A perfect way to relax after enjoying the outdoors. Tideswell Food festival is in May, wakes time in June, July and August in our region, so you might be able to see Welldressings being made and join in the festivities at a local carnival.
