Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 3-5 With Mountain Views

Beacon is reminiscent of towns you see in movies. A small, bustling main street lined with galleries, restaurants and shops. Unfortunately it's no longer a secret as it has been featured in several publications like the New York Time's, 'Great Places to Visit.'

Explore the Hudson Valley, or take the train to Manhattan to spend the day shopping, sight-seeing or enjoying a Broadway show. If you've come here to escape, there are numerous outdoor activities that highlight picturesque views and the sought after quiet many people desire. Beacon has also become a cultural center in the art world; attractions include DIA Foundation museum, Art and Antique Galleries, open artist's studios and even a glass blowing shop.

In Beacon during the spring, fall and summer months there are various outdoor festivals, as well as a farmers market on the waterfront every Sunday. In the winter months the area is recognized for it's many cross country skiing trails. Year round, on the second Saturday of every month the galleries in Beacon stay open until 9 PM serving wine and snacks. Join the crowds exploring Main Street.

A true description of Beacon would be far too long for an easy read. We've lived here our whole lives and discover something new every weekend. Whether it be a new distillery, shop or festival. Living here for nearly 30 years, we continue to be amazed, enthusiastic and eager to share Beacon with you. We won't spoil all the surprises; come explore and fall in love.

Well-stocked and close to town

  • 4 of 5

Super cute house that is full of everything you need. Awesome location between Cold Spring and Beacon right on Rt 9d. Only thing we didn't realize was how close to the road the house really is so if you don't want road noise or have little kids take this into consideration. We will definitely stay again if we come to town!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Our adult daughter joined my husband and I for a weekend in the West Point area. My husband went to a football game and my daughter and I went to an apple orchard and wondered around Beacon and Cold Spring. It was a wonderful weekend and the Mountain house was perfect. It was immaculately clean and met all of our needs. It is a small house which has been well designed for maximum use of space. The owners are very helpful. They provided information prior to our arrival and also guided us to great restaurants while we were there.

There is a nice yard. If you have small children, you should know that the house is on a highway, and it is very close to the road. This was not an issue for us.

We highly recommend this property.

Lovely stay in a cozy, well-appointed home

  • 5 of 5

My family (husband, myself, 5-year-old, and 2-year-old) just had a nice three-night stay at this house. I don't have much to add that hasn't been said in previous reviews (which I found VERY helpful!). I'll clarify that the house is just SOUTH of the turn for Lapis. Even though a previous reviewer had noted this, we missed the turn at first. It also helped to remember that the driveway was where the streetlight was.

The owners were so welcoming and thoughtful, and very responsive. The home was, as others noted, very clean and comfortable. It was better than the photos indicate! The first thing we did was move all the breakable decorative things to higher ground, out of the reach of the 2-year-old. :) The kids had a blast running around on the hardwood floors (which we don't have at home). The fully loaded TV and wifi were nice touches. The house was well-stocked in terms of linens, towels, extra pillows/blankets, and kitchen supplies. It was also nice to have dishwashing and laundry detergents available (though we didn't use the latter).

If you're staying here and needing groceries, do yourself a favor and drive the extra few miles to a big supermarket. I made a quick run to the Key Food in downtown Beacon and was pretty underwhelmed.

We were very happy with our stay and would love to return!

Lovely experience at the Beacon Mountain House

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this immaculate property. The kitchen is well appointed for all of your needs and the gracious hosts even left us a gift basket of Beacon goodies. The house is centrally located to everything in Beacon and Cold Spring. We enjoyed a relaxing time here and highly recommend this place. One thing to note is that while the property is near Mt. Beacon, it is right on the main road in the town. So, you will hear road noise at night, etc...
