ABOUT BLUE TIKI With a layout ideally suited for families, Blue Tiki sleeps up to eight guests (one king, one double, one twin trundle, and one queen air mattress). The master bedroom suite has a large walk-in shower with dual shower heads while the two additional bedrooms share a bath and shower. The family room opens to the lanai in the backyard, blending the outdoor and indoor living spaces. The regulation sized pool table will keep you entertained, as will the cozy leather couches with TV and Netflix. A Vonage telephone line and high speed internet (fiber) with WiFi coverage throughout the home provide connectivity for those who need it. With ceiling fans throughout, the available air conditioning is rarely needed. See additional details in the amenities section below.

Relax in a hammock under the coconut and lime trees, or unwind in the pool situated in a tropical setting among plumerias, birds of paradise, and many other indigenous plants and trees. The large lanai provides ample space to kick back in the shade with a book, and the covered pool cabana offers seating for six for poolside dining. We are a family of four that spent the last three decades in Texas prior to taking an overseas posting in the Middle East. When looking to repatriate, our options were endless. We knew we wanted a lifestyle where we could spend the majority of our time outdoors. After packing all that we owned into a container, we set off for Hawaii. During our first visit to Kailua we were sold...all that we were looking for and more!

Blue Tiki is a gem. We looked at over 30 homes in a week during our transition to Hawaii, and this one stood out as a recently renovated home in the highly desirable Kuulei Tract in Kailua. Its location is perfect for a local family who spends as much time shopping and dining as we do at the beach...a short walk in either direction!

The layout of our home is ideal for entertaining and equally suitable for the relaxing lifestyle for which Hawaii is known. The tradewinds cool the home year-round, and though we have air conditioners, we've only turned them on a handful of times in September (our hottest month). The tropical oasis in our backyard is well protected and provides a private sanctuary with pool and spa. Coconut and plumeria trees surround you and truly give a sense of living on a remote island!

What makes this house unique

Blue Tiki is our family home that we make available to our guests, thus we take pride in maintaining our home to a high standard. We have the basic amenities such as boogie-boards and lifejackets, bbq grill, beach chairs, snorkel gear, and coolers. Larger items such as kayaks and surfboards are better suited renting from the nearby shops to avoid the hassle of transporting them to the beach.

  • There is one king in the master, one queen in the second bedroom, and a twin sized trundle bed in the third bedroom. We also have a queen sized air mattress that can sleep two and can be placed anywhere in the home. We usually suggest putting it in the master bedroom, the breakfast room, or outside on the lanai which is covered and has nice tropical breezes.

This is true Kama'aina living. Most of the items you will need on a daily basis are provided, though some of the larger items are better off being rented as needed to save you money (example, kayaks, surfboards, etc.). We provide all that you will need to hit the ground running on your vacation! Don't worry about initial stocks of sunscreen, toiletries, pantry items, etc. We also provide life-jackets, boogie-boards, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, and bikes. We also have a queen sized blow-up mattress as well as an air purifier for anyone who has allergies.

Paradise Found

This Home is perfect for Kailua. The pool is an awesome break from the beach. The yard is privacy fenced, and found that to be really nice. They had Christmas decorations up for us when we arrived. Nicer than the homes in Lanikai we've stayed at previously. Highly recommend. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Loved the home. Residential area that is conveniently located to stores & restaurant's. We loved our daily walk to the beach. Pool was the extra perk.Owners are very sweet!! Woukd definitely stay here again

Wonderful Home in Kailua

Wow what a great home and location! My family had a wonderful time at Blue Tiki. We really enjoyed the outdoor amenities and spent quite a bit of time by the pool relaxing. The beach is a short walk away and is incredibly beautiful. I would strongly recommend Blue Tiki to anyone looking for a family home in Kailua.

Our family had a wonderful time at Blue Tiki! Blue Tiki is situated in Oahu, a short walk to beautiful Kailua beach and a half mile to the center of all the wonderful shopping and restaurants in downtown Kailua. Our family loved the indoor/outdoor feel of Blue Tiki and spent lovely evenings grilling and lounging by the pool. The owners and their family are lovely and gracious hosts and a pleasure to deal with. We highly recommend!

Beautiful well maintained home

Blue Tiki is a beautiful home to stay in. More than enough room for a family of 6. The owners were very welcoming and did a great job of showing us around the home and explaining its many wonderful amenities. The neighborhood that it is located in has all benefits of Waikiki without the congestion and noise. There are several beaches for swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, etc., numerous restaurants and stores within minutes of the home. However if you want to get to Waikiki or downtown Honolulu it is only a short drive over the mountains. The pictures of the home do not do it justice! We had a great time staying at blue tiki and strongly recommend it for anyone looking for a home to stay in while on Oahu.

Great house in wonderful Kailua

Our family had a wonderful and relaxing time at Blue Tiki.

The owners were staying nearby so it was really nice to have a direct contact with people who know the house intimately. I am not sure if this is always the case but I never dealt with anyone other than the owners directly from start to finish, and they helped us beyond just rental related questions. Blake and Natalie were there to greet us as we arrived and give us an orientation of the house. They were also flexible with the arrival time which was very helpful as our route of arrival only allowed for flights arriving in the AM.

Access to Kailua town and beach are very good. We alternated between walking and driving to the beach – pretty easy to do either. We only drove into town but it is just a short walk across the park. If you have never been Kailua it is a lovely quiet neighborhood with all the infrastructure you need and still a quick 30 minute drive into Honolulu if you want to explore there.

The house faces one of the busier streets (by Kailua standards – still 25mph) but once you are in the house or the pool area you are completely in a private world. The pool area is lovely with several tall palms and well landscaped surroundings. The jacuzzi is really nice to have as well as pools in Hawaii can be cool (although still pleasant) during the winter months. Probably doesn’t matter with so much time in the sun, but we also found the house well lit.
