About Christy

My family and I fell in love with this area when we used to come and stay in rental cabins on long weekends along the Frio River. We loved it so much in 2006 we moved to Leakey, from Houston, to escape the rat race and raise our kids somewhere clean and quiet. We love living in the hill country, and Leakey has definitely lived up to our expectations. We are excited we can share the experience with other people looking to rent a quaint cabin on the Frio.

Christy purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Christy chose Leakey

Our cabin is cozy, but far from rustic. You'll find everything you need to enjoy a weekend or week on the Frio. While it might be a little scary to unplug completely, we think you'll come to appreciate that your cell phone doesn't get reception and there is no WIFI.

What makes this cabin unique

The view from the front porch is our favorite. It's a nice place to sit with a steamy cup of coffee early in the morning and watch the deer. It's also a great place to enjoy a beer or glass or wine in the evening, as the deer are passing by again.

A refreshing get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Hillside cabin! I loved that it was easy to find but out of the way and quiet. If you want a peaceful, restful place to stay, this is it! Thank you Christy, we a had a wonderful time- it ended too quickly! Sharon D

Serenity at its best

  • 5 of 5

We loved being completely unplugged from electronics. The cabin was exactly as pictured. The only thing is it does need another sitting space in living room.

There's a rocking chair that's not very comfortable couch is great but your limited on space. Sightseeing is beautiful, just a short walk away.

Quaint & satisfactory

  • 4 of 5

Cute cabin. Had most of everything you could need. Roasted marshmallows in the fire pit, played in the creek. Hot water runs out quick so plan accordingly. Heater works well & kids enjoyed cartoons on TV. Very quiet & secluded. Good value. We would stay again.

Minimalist Cabin

  • 3 of 5

We rented this cabin for a weekend trip to Lost Maples State Park, which was beautiful and I highly recommend a visit to the park. Luckily we arrived at the cabin before dark because the GPS did not take us to the right place. The cabin is marked with the house number above the front door, but we failed to see it since it was hard to see from the road. The cabin has a stocked kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms, and two baths. The living room has an uncomfortable futon and a hard wooden rocking chair. It could really use some more comfortable seating. One bedroom has a queen bed which was somewhat comfortable, but the other bedroom with two twin beds in it had really uncomfortable mattress and plastic sheets so you hear the other person's every move if you sleep in this room. The title "Riverfront Cabin on the Frio" is very misleading because what it doesn't say in the ad is that you have to traverse down the steep driveway, cross the road, and walk about 100 feet in brush to get to the river. They claimed there was a mowed path, but we never found it. When you look at the picture subtitled "View from front porch" know that you are seeing the road you have to cross and then go through the brush that's pictured in order to get to the river. The fact that you can't see the river in the picture will give you an indication of how "riverfront" this cabin is. It was clean and the outside fire pit area was great. The stars were AMAZING. The town of Leakey was quaint and the ranch roads were curvy and fun.
