Very inviting comfortable home in an established neighborhood right in the heart of Nob Hill with parks, shopping, dining and entertainment within comfortable walking distance. The house is easily rearranged for different office, living, sleeping configurations.

Large laundry room, 2 full bathrooms and a very nice light airy entry with lots of plants; patios and decks extend the living space to the outdoors and make for a great space for entertaining or pets and kids. New Pella windows and lots of insulation create a quiet, comfortable year-round interior feel. There is a beautiful, south-facing bay window in one bedroom that provides great winter sun. The front bedroom has its own walled patio and private entrance. Either of these bedrooms make a great office/work space (desk and almost anything else you might need are available)

Because there are 2 distinct sleeping and/or working areas with a shared living, dining room and kitchen in the middle, this house is ideal for a roommate situation, working from home or a separate area for children.

The owner lives on-site in a studio in the back of the property with access from the alley. He is mostly around and takes care of gardens, assure security and take care of the chickens - EGGS are included in the rent.

About Michael Hyde

I am an Engineer by training and have spent most of my life as a craftsman with a an ecological bent. I have used my creative impulses on remodeling my house over the years. I love creating an environment that feels warm, with plenty of plants, colorful walls, natural light with skylights and windows, decks, adobe walled patio and experimental gardens. I enjoy entertaining: hosting barbecues, dinners, parties,and get togethers. I have shared my home with many roommates and guests over the almost 40 years that I have owned this property. It has been really nice being part of Nob Hill as it has gone from being a sleepy little neighborhood adjacent to University of New Mexico to the entertainment, dining and shopping mecca of Albuquerque.

For the past few years I have been trying to work less and travel more and offering my house as a fully furnished vacation rental helps to make this possible .

My latest addition is a group of well fed chickens that provide my guests and myself with fresh eggs.

I live in a studio in the back of the property, and am often around tinkering on a woodworking project, motorcycles, watering the gardens, landscaping and etc.

Why Michael Hyde chose Nob Hill

I bought this house when I was in college and have loved being a part of a growing Nob Hill scene, walking and bicycling to everything. There are still a handful of residents that were in this neighborhood when I moved in in 78, and the neighborhood has only gotten better because of its proximity to Central Avenues main set of businesses. There is an eclectic and friendly feel and it has been a great place to build lasting friendships.

The property itself is on a decent sized lot with established trees that allowed me to build a shop/garage/studio with an entry from the alley.

What makes this house unique

By living on the property I am always available to take care for problems or requests my renters may have. I go out of my way to assure that my guests have anything that they need to have an enjoyable, carefree experience; I provide bicycles, eggs, toys, cribs, barbecues, desks, rearrange the house as needed.

I can provide a garage bay for a car or some storage.

The house is laid out to provide plenty of private spaces so that you can work or have conversations and family and friends can be in other indoor or outdoor spaces enjoying and entertaining.

The deck is adjacent to the dining room space and is accessed through double doors which extends the living spaces even more.

Great home away from home experience!

This is the second time we've stayed at this Homeaway location. It's very comfortable. We love that the dining area opens to a beautiful covered back deck that looks out on the back yard gardens. We had an open house for our daughter's graduation from grad school and it was perfect for entertaining.

A Sanctuary close to the Albuquerque city centre

This is a great and serene place for stay consonant with the energies of the city. The place is clean, each room is uniquely designed, and you will have a great patio to enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea in the breeze and watching humming birds come close to drink water. What made this place even a greater stay is the host! He made us feel comfortable from the time of arrival , accommodating every our request and giving even more, exceeding all our expectations! The host is kind, generous and caring. We are very grateful for everything we have experienced in Albuquerque! Definitely recommended for stay!

Excellent host and accomodations

We called at the last minute to inquire about the rental. Michael was understanding and was able to rent to my family (2 adults and 2 kids) on short notice. He even did the linens himself, since the cleaning person was not available that day. The house is very comfortable, with all the conveniences of home. A well-stocked kitchen was appreciated. The house is in a great location, very walkable to restaurants, close to Central Ave. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe with the kids. Thanks, Michael for getting us in on short notice!

Wonderful experience

What a lovely feeling to this place! And Mike was incredibly generous and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

We were a group of several women who had rented the place out for over a week, since we were training during the flamenco festival. Mike found us extra beds, gifted us with fresh eggs from the chicken coop, showed us everything we needed in order to be comfortable -- including the best ways to have a dinner party with more folks using the outdoor space and even lending us his car. I've never experienced such a genuinely giving host.

The kitchen was also fully stocked, so we were able to cook every day -- key -- and we were close enough to the university to walk there and back, even on badly damaged feet after intensive dance courses all day long, and similarly close to the Montañita co-op (now my all-time favorite grocery store, nation-wide).

Thanks so much for a wonderful stay, Mike! We'll hopefully be back next year!

Wonderful family friendly home and extremely helpful landlord

We needed a place close to the UNM hospital and kid friendly . This was perfect ! We were 4 adults , a 3 yr old and a new born. Micheal the landlord made arrangements for an extra mattress for our toddler and even assembled a crib for the baby ! It has 3 bedrooms with lots of storage space ( the beds are queen size , it did not matter to us). Lots of sunlight, well decorated (owner moved stuff to make it easy for our son to play and not get hurt). Kitchen had everything we needed including rice cooker and veggie steamer. The house might appear small from the front and the pictures but in fact has lots of room for several adults. There are chickens from which the owner even provides eggs ! our son loved to watch the chickens and would feed them (kept him busy). Location is very convenient, safe neighborhood, walk to several restaurants (asian, thai , american, ice creams, even a coop for grocery), banks, airport (including plane viewing area ) is very close by. As is the university and the hospital. Landlord/owner is terrific, extremely helpful. He lives behind this property so available if needed without affecting privacy. He has bikes if you like to ride around the neighborhood.

House was very lucky for us and we are grateful to Michael for making our stay so comfortable. We really miss this place, if we were to move to Albuquerque we would love to rent this place long term both for the house and the landlord !

Refundable Damage Deposit $800

For multi-month rentals the 25% would confirm the reservation, the 75% of the 1st month rental and the $800 damage deposit would be due at move in and the monthly rent would be due on the move-in day each month. The 8 $800 damage deposit would be returned at the time of move out.
