The Laneway House also has a desk with a printer and free high speed Wifi, ensuring that you will be able to work uninterrupted. This house is perfect for both families and professionals looking for local and quality accommodation without the sterile hotel experience. We chose to live in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver to be close to the beaches, parks and vibrant street of West Broadway. We also wanted to be close the a major public transport hub which is very important us and our guests.

What makes this house unique

The Almond Park Suites Laneway House is an ideal home away from home for families, academics visiting UBC or anyone wanting to have something different from the standard hotel fare. It is in the middle of a quiet, beautiful and family friendly neighbourhood but also has easy access to many local amenities, beautiful beaches and parks, and all that Vancouver has to offer. An Ideal Place to Stay in Vancouver

Unfamiliar with Vancouver, we chose this place because of a dot on the map: close to downtown, east; close to UBC, west; closer still to the coast, north. Lucky us. By sundown on our first day, we had enjoyed three different parks -- with beaches, marinas, walks -- facing English Bay and that famous view of the city with mountains beyond. Leafy Kitsilano and its neighbor West Point Grey are a pleasure for walking; even for driving, unlike the center city. For that, we took a direct bus from just two blocks away. One block further we found a lively shopping street and all manner of restaurants. Braden was a lovely host, helpful even before we arrived. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and snacks, and enjoyed them on the little patio right outside the kitchen. The two-story home is private, comfortable, and convenient. Everything works! And if it didn't, Braden would be right next door to fix it. Our only mistake was not booking a longer stay.

Continued Excellence!

This was our second stay at the Laneway House, and we continue to love it. Braden has thought of everything a guest could need, and the house is immaculate. The downstairs includes a well-appointed kitchen and comfy living room, while the upstairs includes a cozy master bedroom and convenient office space with computer. Braden is always a welcoming host and the house reflects her care and attention to detail. A little gem in the walking-friendly Kitsilano neighborhood!

Gracious hosts, wonderful location, comfortable accommodations

We stayed at this laneway home for a week with our two children ages 17 and 12 for a family vacation. Braden responded to our inquiries very quickly before our arrival. Upon our arrival, we found the home immaculate and equipped with all of our basic needs, including a few lovely welcome items. Braden and Anthony were gracious and thoughtful hosts. The bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable, with high quality bedding and pillows. The towels were large and fluffy and the kids found their beds comfortable (our son slept on the pullout sofa).

We stocked up on groceries on our first day so that we could have most of our meals in the home or from packed lunches, and there are many grocery and liquor stores on West Broadway (2 blocks away) and West Fourth (7 blocks away). The home had a wheeled shopping bag, so we were able to walk to and from the grocery stores. Regarding access to amenities on foot: there is a nice park very near the home where our son played; we were close enough to walk to the seaside (about 12 blocks) and enjoy the seaside walking path and beaches from Jericho Beach west to Spanish Banks Beach (for the best fish and chips, go to West Spanish Banks Beach, which is about 700 metres west of East Spanish Banks Beach); and we enjoyed thrift and specialty clothes shopping on West Broadway and West Fourth.

Regarding access to amenities further away: we used public transportation throughout our stay, and the home is close to a major bus stop (West Broadway and Alma) with easy access to the skytrains, which led us to Vancouver Aquarium, Science Place, Metrotown, Steveston village, and Granville Island). We purchased Compass Cards to ride the buses and trains, which we registered and reloaded online throughout our trip. We found out that the $6 startup fee for each card is refundable and you can mail the cards back to the transit authority after your stay to get the startup fee back, which makes a difference when purchasing several cards.

Braden returned our security deposit less than 24 hours after our checkout. We would definitely stay at this home again. Thank you to Braden and Anthony for helping to make our family vacation so comfortable and enjoyable.
