About the property

3 bedroom, 1 bath cabin sleeps 6-7, fire pit, BBQ, amazing views w/mtn air

Located 3 miles west of Anaconda at the base of Mt Haggin, this cabin is ideal if you plan to visit attractions such as Discovery Ski Area, Georgetown Lake, Old Works GC, and/or Fairmont Hot Springs.

The Piney Woods Cabin is a terrific choice if you are looking to relax with the family or want to hunt or hike miles of mountain trails literally out the front door.

The Piney Woods Cabin is surrounded by pine and aspen trees on 1 acre but it feels much larger as thousands of acres are available to hunt or hike on the Haggin wildlife management area with a trail head 200 ft from the cabin.

The backyard is a wonderful place to grill on the barbecue, warm up next to the fire, roast marshmallows with the kids, or just relax and enjoy the view. The cabin has forced air heat and a blaze king stove to keep you warm and cozy as well as large picture windows to enjoy the scenery.

Exceptional outdoor recreation abounds with spectacular views of MT Haggin forming the backdrop. Outdoor activities include: golf, hiking, hunting, fishing, downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and much more. The cabin is open year-round with seasonal rates.

4x4 or AWD required during winter months to access the property.

Perfect: Everything you need and nothing you don't.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a full month at this log house in the forest. Fantastic place to stay for anyone interested in the outdoors. Superb setting, plenty of space for the kids and dog, great area for all sorts of outdoors activities. No crowds! Owner is very friendly. The house is ideal for outdoors enthusiasts: has it all with no pretensions, great yard and fireplace included. We looked at places all over Colorado and Montana and we were delighted with our choice as soon as we saw the house and the yard. It was perfect for us.

Great Place To Stay!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the location. We were looking for a place between Fairmont Hot Springs and Discovery. This cabin is exactly that. There was plenty of room for 3 couples. The owner answered any questions quickly. We'll definitely remember this place for future adventures.

A wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed this cabin. Everything was very clean and there was plenty of room for our family of 5 to spread out. It is right in the middle of all the action (Discovery Basin and Fairmont) but in the mountains with privacy and quiet. We hope to return in the future! Thank you Shawn and family for a fantastic stay!

P.S. the coffeemaker is a Keurig so plan accordingly. We brought traditional ground coffee and had to use the kcups they provided (which we really appreciated)!

A fine getaway, well stocked, comfortablle

  • 5 of 5

We found the house spacious and comfortable, a welcome retreat. It was forest fire season in western Montana, but the house seemed protected from the smoke. It was easy to explore Butte and Anaconda with their rich history and architecture from the house, also to hike the surrounding mountain trails.

Perfect place for us

  • 5 of 5

This isn't new construction and we didn't mind at all.. It is an older home with a few quirks. It was clean, comfortable, and really felt like visiting the grandparents as a kid. It even had board games to play (and we did). The beds where comfortable. The cabin is partway up a mountain and just a couple miles from town.... amazing views. The neighbor is there if you need anything and is a great guy. Shawn was great to work with too. We had a perfect stay. I will definitely come stay again when we are in the area.

There is Direct Tv with some channels. Internet is SLOW and limited... cell services ended for us down the road but vacation is about getting away from that anyway.

We enjoyed our stay so much.... I hope you do too!
