Nice cozy cabin
The cabin is very nice and clean. Modern appliances and decent sized kitchen that wss well stocked. Perfect location out of town for peace and quiet but close enough to enjoy activities in town. Comfortable bedroom on main floor with blackout blinds. Sofas are a bit out dated and broken down in basement and loft but it still worked just fine for our family.I would definitely stay again.
A nice, quiet place, just outside of town
We were looking for a nice place just outside of Seward, and found it in this casual, yet modern cabin. It was certainly roomy and well-appointed, so four adults never got in the way of each other. We were looking forward to using the fire pit, but it rained the whole time we were there. Kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, which made cooking for four quite easy. Coffee on the deck in the morning was a highlight, even in the rain.
Access to town and activities made staying here really nice. We had some early morning starts for kayaking and hiking, so being only 10 minutes from town, docks etc. was a plus.
There were a few minor glitches and a major one: when filtering the website for possible cabins in the area we listed wi-fi as a requirement. Old Mill came up as an option, yet has no wi-fi. Since there was a wi-fi logo on the Old Mill page we missed the clear explanation from the owner that there was no wi-fi. Oh well. Closet space was at a minimum (master BR only). The basement bedroom was quite noisy with the furnace and freezer kicking in in the middle of the night (as well as some sort of alarm that kept going off on the freezer due to midnight power outages. Had to get up in the middle of the night to reset the thing... every night). Also, there was a wood burning stove in the living room, but this seemed locked to prevent use. Too bad as a wood fire would have been nice on those cold, rainy nights. Biggest glitch was that we were not provided with the access codes to the cabin until I tracked down the owner and asked for them.
Nice cabin bordering Chugach National forest
We had an awesome time at this Cabin. It was plenty big for 7 of us (5 adults, 2 kids). The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. One side of the property is bordering on the Chugach National Forest. There are two creeks, one in front and one in the back of the property. There were plenty of Salmon when we stayed during the 3rd week of August. The firepit is a nice touch. We built a small fire when the rain let down a bit and grilled directly on top of the fire which was fun for the kids.
There is a small gas grill on the Balcony which we used. I spent a lot of time on the Balcony reading a book hearing the rain drizzle .. just Heaven :)
On the last day as we were leaving the property we were lucky enough to see a black bear on the edge of the creek in the front.
Feel like home
After a week on cruise, we needed a place where we feel like home. This place fits our need perfectly. We are surprised to find food in the refrigerator though we already bought our grocery. We cooked and enjoyed our time together in the cabin. Though it says it sleeps 6, we find the sofa bed upstair needed update, it is not comfortable.
Wonderful house in the woods
My family really enjoyed our time this house. It is obvious that a lot of time was spent decorating the house and setting it up for guests. We did some cooking, and we found everything we needed in the kitchen. The living room was very comfortable. We used the fire pit too which was supplied with wood.
Cozy Cabin in the Woods is accurate
This was a beautiful log cabin with nice details like a personalized stained glass window and other stained glass art and night lights. It was very well furnished and tastefully decorated with Alaskan themes.
The view from the balcony was as pictured - with a great view of a snow covered mountain peak.
The cabin was large and two bathrooms were a big plus because we were two couples. We loved the gas range and also greatly appreciated having the use of a washer and dryer.
The guys enjoyed using the fire pit. Our only disappointment was not getting to use the wood burning stove in the cabin - Mark explained that this was an insurance issue.
The setting was somewhat secluded which we had hoped for! The back of the property borders the Chugach State Park and there is a nice stream nearby.
If we ever get to return to Alaska, we would love to stay here again!
Cabin in the woods feel. Close to Seward without the congestion.
