About the property

Sweet 4 Br/2 Bath; Mountain Views With Easy Access To Town!

Welcome to the Fairview Vacation Cottage! **Until June there will be work being done on the backyard as we prepare for a small wedding space! Please excuse the inconvenience of that but will not affect the comfort of the home!

We have enjoyed creating a warm and cozy space for you and yours when you feel a desire to relax and retreat from your busy life. Our place is perfect for family gatherings or 2 to 3 couples who just want to come enjoy what the Asheville area has to offer!

We are sure you will love it here... The peaceful setting offers mountain views and charm. There is easy access to downtown and the eccentric, bohemian night life. Asheville really sets the stage for fun!

Our cottage offers an array of sleeping arrangements: 1st floor -- BR1: queen bed, BR2: 2 twins. 2nd floor -- BR3: full + futon, BR4: queen. Wifi for your convenience so you can stay connected if you like.

For entertainment there is a 65' smart TV, surround sound w/ Bluetooth for your device, Netflix, and many DVDs (no cable). Upstairs there is a second TV with PS3 and games. There is a wood stove for those chilly nights and a fully equipped kitchen for preparing comforting home cooked meals. My favorite offering is a coffee maker which will make a pot for the whole crew or a single-serve K-cup for one at a time!

The front porch and rear deck are inviting outdoor spaces as well as a lovely garden area to enjoy on sunny days. Covered parking is available for one vehicle. With paved roads and no steep hills to climb the access is easy with any vehicle!

There is onsite management who can help with any needs that come up as well as advice for places to eat, shop, hike, etc.

So happy you stopped to take a look and hope you see yourself at home away from home here!

About Jeannine Van Sandt

We are Ted and Jeannine and making people feel 'at home' is very important to us! This property has been carefully thought out to make that happen for you while you are here. My family loves the idea of our house being part of your vacation memories! So if there is anything we can do to help ensure a comfy/cozy stay, just let us know and we will do our best to help!

Jeannine Van Sandt purchased this house in 2014

Why Jeannine Van Sandt chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Asheville has drawn many folks here with all kinds of mysterious explanations such as the vibrations of the Crystal Vortex! A quote: 'Some well known people who have lived in the area include the author Thomas Wolfe, Billy Graham the world evangelist, George Vanderbilt the railroad tycoon, and Robin Williams the actor. You could be the next on the list if you feel the mountains calling, like so many others of the past.

'Pure magic!. Science or Mystery? Some have said that because this area's mountains are filled with quartz (several trillion tons of it!), a piezoelectric effect is acting as a psychic magnet drawing people. Others say the land is divinely blessed and that the Atlanteans once lived here, after fleeing their dying continent. The native Americans of course see this land as sacred.'

Ted and I really came (at different times) to the Asheville area for the beautiful scenery and all four seasons where the winters are only moderately cold. It marks the passage of time and tales in an organic way that feels right!

What makes this house unique

We are local and nearby if you have any concerns. We have put together a mix of comfort, style, and modern convenience to offer an experience of true vacation and only minutes away from the 'Keep Asheville Weird' culture of art and craft beers! We think this place is perfect!

Very comfortable and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

The home was clean and the furniture was very comfortable. The towels were thick and clean; the linens and blankets were soft and comfortable. All the dishes, pots/pans and accessories that we needed were available and easily accessed. The tv and sound system were great, which we were very grateful for since we were unable to go out during the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. It is located in a rural area up in the hills, but not far from grocery stores, Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. We didn't realize it until the day after we arrived (we arrived very late at night) that there were people living below us. They had their own entrance and we had no interaction with them. We hope that our walking around on the wood flooring did not disturb them. Thanks, Jeannine, for making our stay in the Asheville area so nice!

Great house off the beaten path near Asheville

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our girls weekend! The house was far enough out that we didn't have to worry about city noise or lights keeping us up, but still close enough to Asheville that we were able to use Uber/Lyft to grab rides into the city and to The Biltmore for a reasonable fee. The rooms were all neat and the kitchen was perfect for cooking a meal. The view is beautiful and amenities were great. There is not much cell service but there's wifi so we could make any calls we needed to but didn't get bombarded which was nice. We would recommend this property to anyone looking to get away or wanting to visit Asheville without paying an arm and a leg to stay in the city!

We loved staying at this property! Kid friendly, wonderful set up and close to necessities! The grocery store is only 5-10 min away and Asheville was easy to get to. We enjoyed being able to easily get back to the house for kids naps and it didn't feel like an undertaking to go back to downtown Asheville for dinner! It was also nice to have restaurant options really close by. Having the sheets and towels provided was wonderful and it lightened our load. The kitchen was nicely stocked for cooking. Thank you for a wonderful space to call home for the weekend! We will definitely be back!

Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

NC is the halfway point for our relatives to meet traveling from Ohio and Florida, so this was a great house to have for all of our family to be together for the July 4th weekend. There was plenty of room and the house is located in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood. We started each morning with breakfast together at the house then we took the trolley tour of Asheville which was close by. The 2nd day we traveled to Cherokee and drove the Blue Ridge Parkway back to the house. We returned to the house each evening for dinner and games with all the family. The house was big enough for all 8 of us yet cozy so we all felt at home. Even though we never saw Ted and Jeannine they made us feel welcome and if we had any problems they fixed it quickly.

This was a great family vacation we just wished we could have stayed longer. I would recommend this house to my friends and anyone else who would like to visit Asheville. We hope we can return again soon. Thanks for everything Ted and Jeannine your house is beautiful, it made our trip relaxing and fun.

Relaxing, quaint, family friendly

  • 5 of 5

We thorough enjoyed our stay in this mountain retreat. The house can sleep several people allowing everyone to have their own space. We were there for a family wedding and it was the perfect place for family time. Closely located to the sites of downtown Asheville, we had easy access to all that the area has to offer. Thank you for a wonderful stay! With 5 generations of family staying, memories were made that will last a lifetime. Thank you!
