Our family started coming down 35 years ago and we love it so much we keep coming back. we bought this house 10 years ago as a vacation rental
Jeff and Suzanne McKenna purchased this house in 2005
The secluded lake without houses all around the lake giving it a very natural appeal. The house is just a bonus.
Plenty of amenities! Layout of the house was great for kids area and adult area. Very clean.
It was a pleasure to walk into such a spotless house. Not a cobweb in sight! Even the screened in porch was squeaky clean. The owners have provided every comfort imaginable. No detail was skipped over. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with everything we needed and more. Adults and kids had a ball playing several of the games provided. The kids were able to have their own space with this well defined floor plan.
An early cup of coffee on the chilly deck, watching the fog rise over the lake was made perfect by the deer spotted in the yard!! The Fall weather was excellent for hiking, leaf throwing, roasting marshmallows and late night conversations around the fire pit after the kids were in bed.
Our yearly weekend family gathering of 14 was a memorable one. Thank you. We hope to return again next year.
LWonderful accommodations and a virtual retreat just perfect for five old bikers on a three day ride in SE Ohio. Owners were great with to whom to work and the home was immaculate and in ready to move condition. Loved the old transistor radio in the master bath.
The McKenna's place is very nice, homey, sprawling, and roomier than you might think from the photos. It's a fine place to stay for going to do other activities --in Hocking Hills, Athens, even Columbus; but there is enough house, deck, and yard space for relaxing and playing around the place itself. At the house, lake access is not garden-like, but it's easy to get down to the water and skip some stones or fish. Some of the doors didn't latch, so you might want to check that with them if you're into latching doors :) The kitchen is very well outfitted. The grill is more than serviceable.
I absolutely loved Jeff's house at Sunset Point. We ended up with a small group of 6 but it made it even that much more spacious. Since it has 5 bedrooms easily comfortable for 5 couples and there is an additional den with 2 futons. This is THE place to spend some time and we are already talking about the next time we might get together there again.
Pros: The kitchen is stacked which is awesome because when I get vacation rentals, we cook the whole time. Just to illustrate there was an electric hand mixer and 2 crockpots, so yeah... pretty much everything you need. The AC kept it perfect temp. The landscaping was beautiful. Plenty of outside opportunity on the large deck and the covered porch. 3 bathrooms (one in the master). Two closets full of games, puzzles and fun. Super clean and comfy!
Quirks: Its an old place, which the owner mentions in his review which added some charm. All the interior doors are sliding wooden doors. Its so big and there are so many light switches its a bit of a scavenger hunt. One of the 3 bathrooms is carpeted, but oh well. The raccoons are a force to be reckoned with so don't leave anything outside.
Many thanks to the home owner, it was a great two nights.
I have rented many homes over the years. But none like this. I have never seen a kitchen so well stocked with anything you could possibly need. It was very clean and so comfortable. The owner was very nice and accommodating. My family and I definitely recommend this home to everyone. The landscaped grounds are a bonus. Can't wait to return for an extended stay. Thanks Jeff.
