About Laura Volk and Joe Roscoe

We have been coming to Lake Placid for twenty years. But with each passing year, we wanted to stay longer. During the of 2014, we made the decision to buy Harbor Hideaway after climbing to the top of Rooster Comb Mountain and seeing a vivid rainbow there... a sign to make a second home in Lake Placid. We purchased our Lake Placid home December 5, 2014 and have done a total renovation over the past three years. We seek only a limited number of guests per year, usually a couple of a family with 1-2 children who will care for and appreciate Harbor Hideaway as their "home away from home" in Lake Placid.

Why Laura Volk and Joe Roscoe chose Adirondack Mountains

Life is short. So we believe you should always have a water view and a fireplace! The Hideaway has both. You are just steps away from Olympic Sidewalk around Mirror Lake which is a fabulous place for a daily stroll with amazing views. We and our guests treasure the privacy, the quiet, the mountain views, the the lakefront location in combination with the closeness to Village of Lake Placid.

What makes this condo unique

How can you beat a waterfront property on Lake Placid which is also just steps from Mirror Lake in the Village of Lake Placid and all it has to offer? We love being close to nature, yet with privacy...while being able to go to the Center for the Arts, Olympic Venues, shops and restaurants. They are yours to enjoy right here: the comfort, quality and genuine hospitality of Harbor Hideaway on Lake Placid!

Laura and Joe's property is excellent. Tasteful, homely, impeccably clean.

  • 5 of 5

Laura and Joe's property is fabulous. The attention to detail was superb, from Laura's very prompt reply to every email we sent before and after we booked ( and her courtesy calls either side of our visit) to the provision of everything one could possibly want in a condo (including any the most well-stocked kitchen one could ask for!). The condo was spotlessly clean and airy. The location is excellent; near enough to town to walk easily ( 8 minutes) to enjoy the facilities but far enough away to enjoy the peace of the lake. The view of Lake Placid from the balcony is glorious and is printed in our minds indelibly. I recommend the condo unreservedly.

Perfect Retreat

  • 4 of 5

Everything you need was there. Well appointed condo with beautiful views of the lake. The kitchen was fully stocked with very nice pots and pans and we were able to cook meals at home. We walked to downtown several times a day as it was so close. One thing to note is there is no firewood supplied for the fireplace. It was not a problem, we went out and bought some but it's good to know ahead of time. Overall the place is set up in a smart way, everything is where you need it and it's just lovely.

We would definitely come back!

Owner's Response: All our winter guests should find a supply of long-burning Duraflame logs on the hearth when they arrive, enough for a few evenings. Those who like to have a fire more often purchase additional logs. We provide a starter supply because individual use does vary. We do focus on generous accommodations and giving our guests the best of everything. So we are sorry that you were disappointed about this.

Harbor Hideaway

We had a wonderful week at the Harbor Hideaway. The condo was very comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed. Very clean and cozy, and just the right distance for a walk into town. Loved it and hope to go back some day!

Lovely condo. Absolutely everything you would need is there

  • 4 of 5

We were in Lake Placid for downhill skiing. This condo is perfectly located to get in and out of Lake Placid quickly. It's about a 15 min ride to Whiteface. And we walked to dinner, the Olympic Complex and local shopping. And we easily accessed the ice on Lake Placid (for skating) at The Cottage, a 5-10 minute walk. The condo is well appointed with pretty much anything one might need. Very comfortable. Great place to ring in 2017!

Excellent Accomodations in Lake Placid

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed ourselves while visiting Lake Placid and Staying at the Harbor Hideaway. The condo is very comfortable, with a wonderful view of the lake. The new kitchen, appliances, and TV's are all top notch. Probably best of all for us after a day of hiking was winding down while enjoying the view on the patio balcony and then having only a short walk to the various restaurants in town. A great place to stay.
