This ski home/townhome is located in the Villamont Community, a small, quiet community in the Wildernest subdivision of Silverthorne. The house sits at 9,500 feet above sea level, at the base of picturesque Buffalo mountain, a 12,000ft peak. Furthermore, this house sits adjacent to the Arapaho National Forest with immediate access to several hiking trails. Inside, you will find all the comforts of a completely remodeled home including an open concept first floor with wood floors, wood burning fireplace, a big screen HDTV, and a bathroom with shower. Head up the plush carpet stairs to the second level to find comfortable sleeping arrangements with two bedrooms and a large bathroom with his and her sinks and a separate bath/shower. Additional amenities include a washer and dryer in the unit, and free wifi. An ideal set up for multiple couples or a family of up to 7 (or 8 if small children).

Easy access to many world class ski resorts: Keystone (5 miles), Copper Mountain (10 miles), Arapahoe Basin (10 miles), Breckenridge (15 miles), Loveland (15 miles) and Vail/Beaver Creek (30 miles). Or take the free shuttle to some of these from the bus stop literally located across the street. There is hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing a mere 1/4 mile up the hill starting with the Mesa Cortina trail network. Recent visitors to the neighborhood have included fox and moose.

This home-away-from-home is only two miles from downtown Silverthorne/Dillon and I-70, providing plenty of dining, shopping and night life. If you need to stay connected, a large HD LCD TV is in the living room and free wireless internet is also readily available.

Great ski cabin

Great place to stay for a few days at Breckenridge and Vail! Nice size bathroom upstairs along with the bathroom downstairs made it easy for multiple people to get ready at the same time. Worked great for 5 people. The wood burning fireplace is a great touch, and it has plenty of room near it for ski boots to dry out. The kitchen had everything we needed.

Week in July

Beautiful area, and nice clean condo. One of our favorite hikes was right out the door to the trails on Buffalo Mountain. We rented bikes in Dillon and enjoyed riding the trails to Keystone and Frisco. Highly recommend the Dillon Repertory Theatre and the Italian restaurant next door. I must say we were surprised at the amount of traffic congestion in the area, so be prepared for that. Property manager very helpful and prompt with any questions.

Owner's Response: Diane, glad you and your family had an enjoyable stay. Thanks for the recommendations about the Dillon Repertory Theatre and the Italian restaurant next door. Great ideas for future guests to check out too. As for the traffic congestion we do see that from time to time in the summer with various festivals and events in town, not to mention all the outdoor outlet shopping at the bottom of the hill. We'll consider adding some "traffic tips' to our check-in/check-out instructions in the future to outline some of the useful side streets we often take to skirt around some of the intersections that can back up from time to time. Luckily you don't have to fight any traffic to jump right onto the nearby hiking trails located within a few hundred feet of the front door. Thanks for your stay.

family get-away

The lighting is not good. The kitchen is in need of updated pots and pans plus more of them. It says it sleeps eight but there isn't enough silverware or dishes to go around. There was no table or chairs to use only the 5 bar stools around the counter so 8 people need to eat in shifts. The location and view is great.

Owner's Response: Jean, thank you for your comments. The home owner and I (Steve - property manager) visited the unit after your departure. We went ahead and purchased several new lamps for the living room and the upstairs bedrooms to help provide even more lighting for each room. As for the dining area and utensils our VRBO listing does not make claims that a formal dining area exists to accommodate a large family dinner. In fact our VRBO posting explicitly states: "No official dining room [exists], but seating around [the] kitchen island or in [the] living room is sufficient for dining". Furthermore we counted 18 sets of utensils (18 forks, 18 spoons, etc) which has been more than sufficient for the large majority of our past guests. The available dishwasher in the kitchen also makes it easy to clean the utensils as frequently as necessary. This unit is properly described on VRBO as a two bedroom, two bathroom, 1000 sq ft townhouse. It does not claim to be a much larger unit, with a much larger living space. It is true we advertise and do offer sleeping space for up to 8 people across the two bedrooms and sofa bed. But the available sleeping accommodations should not therefore infer that there is a dining table for 8, a hot tub for 8, parking spaces for 8, etc. Our VRBO posting does make such claims. We believe our listing is very accurate and honest about what is provided and what is not provided in the unit. Furthermore the pictures of the unit on VRBO are also accurate and show the unit exactly as it is too. There is no dining room table shown anywhere in our pictures. So it is true, the unit does not have a gourmet kitchen to cook a five course meal - it has an appropriate number of pots and pans to use all four burners of the stove at once. The unit does not have a formal dining room - but has sufficient plates and flatware to cover our guests with seating around the kitchen island or in the living room. With five star reviews from all other past guests, we believe the property has met or exceeded expectations. We thank you for your visit nonetheless and hope you enjoyed your stay over the July 4th weekend in Silverthorne.

The townhouse is located in the middle of the Wildernest Community which is near the intersection of everything when it comes to the Colorado Rockies. The townhouse is near it all, including:

Shopping - the Silverthorne Outlets are 1 mile down the hill.

Hiking - several trails are only 0.25 miles away with nearly 100 other trails within a 15 mile radius.

Skiing - Keystone, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain are a mere 10-15 minutes away. Vail and Beaver Creek are only another 30-45 minutes to the west.

Dining and bars - many restaurants and bars are scattered within and around the Silverthorne Outlets. We personally like Dam Brewery right off of US-6 (2 miles away).

And these are just the primary attractions that the majority of visitors see when traveling to the first city west of the Continental Divide. Looking for other activities? Just ask us, or an internet search will likely come back with thousands of ideas!
