If you want to be "On the Water"...this is the place
Jean's Place is a fantastic location. Diving is 40 steps from the garage. Crabbing was fantastic, as is the huge oyster bed just to south (right) of the gravel beach. The home is older, but in good repair. Everything worked as expected. Jean's story wall is not to be missed, what an interesting life. The kayaks are a bonus. The place was great for 4.
We spent the week surrounding the 4th of July at this adorable Hoodsport home. I wanted family to be able to come and go from a convenient location while enjoying the water. It was clean, comfortable, well stocked and absolutely beautiful! My very favorite part was the panoramic view and the private beach we used for our kayaks. Not only did we have a great week but we had a wonderful 4th of July with fireworks in all directions. I would rent this beautiful home again and recommend it.
Jean's Place - Wonderful!
What a wonderful home to serve as the "home base" for our family spring break vacation. Directions were wonderful, the management company very helpful, and the home cosy and clean - with remarkable views of the Hood Canal. Centrally located for our day trips to Seattle via ferry, Olympic National Park, and Lake Cushman. The included history of the home, and "Aunt Tippy" was a wonderful addition - and triggered wonderful conversations. The deck was a wonderful place for morning coffee watching the sunrise, seeing wildlife (loons, seagulls, and a friendly Harbor Seal - we named him Fred - who visited every morning)! As is typical of the Olympic Peninsula, it rained some every day of our stay - but that didn't hold us back. The house was perfect for coming and going - drying wet clothes, etc. We don't let rain slow us down - but on the days it rained more persistently there were plenty of games to play and the bay with the rainy mist is just as beautiful to look at. The only suggestion we would have is to provide a manual for guests with some simple instructions for the property and surrounding area - finding the laundry in the garage took some searching, the first day we were unable to figure out how to start the gas "wood" stove - even once we found the directions we were unable to get it to light. However - note that the management company was immediately responsive to our inquiry about it and offered several times to drive right over and light it for us (so not making use of it was our choice) - they were simply wonderful to deal with. We will return in a heartbeat should we find our way back to the peninsula!
Quiet and scenic retreat
My wife and I wanted a quiet and quick weekend getaway. This cabin exceeded our expectations. The private beach front was a pleasant surprise. The back deck over the water made it possible to fish while the wife had her morning coffee. Inside, large windows looking out provided panoramic views of Hood Canal looking north, east, and south. The cabin (actually a comfortable home), has a beach cabin feel, but has all the comforts of a very well appointed home - full kitchen, linens, etc. - everything you need is there. And CLEAN. The location is a terrific jumping off point for visiting Lake Cushman, Olympic NP, and Hood Canal. However, my wife most enjoyed sitting in the living room reading books, and enjoying the peaceful view of Hood Canal.
AMAZING home on the water!
What an amazing gem! My husband & I are were looking to get away with the kids and a healthy retreat. We found it and so much more!!! The VIEW on this property is AMAZING! Every morning the sun rises over your own private deck. GORGEOUS. What a wonderful way to start the day, then at night we watch the moon rise and reflect off the water. The Canal is a very special place. It is relaxing and rejuvenating at the same time. One of the most beautiful places in the state. This is a place where you can unplug, relax, re-energize and truly enjoy your time with your family! Another great tip ~ Need a massage? We called a local mobile in-home therapist and she was here and set up with in two hours. It was reasonably priced, she set up on the deck and made our experience that much better! "Out of the mist Massage" local to Hoodsport and a great therapist. 360-490-2982 The house was in great condition!! The house comes with a grill and a deck of patio chairs where we spent most of our time taking in the eagles, otters, seals and the beautiful view. Be sure to take a canoe or kayaks for exploring. It was the best vacation place we've had in years. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing beach treasure. We hope to return as we truly did not want to leave!
