Lovely renovated 3 bedroom, 2 Bath home directly on the water
Nothing compares to being close and yet feeling so far away. Enjoy the escape to Candlewood Lake. The Lakehouse on Spur is nestled in a small lake community with direct water access on a rare no-wake-zone stretch of Candlewood where you can enjoy peace and quiet. It has its own private dock to moor your own boat. Powerboats putter-by, waving hello. No loud jetskis or waterskiing to wake you in the morning or disturb your afternoon reading or fishing. If you are an antique lover, you are close to several nearby towns offering plentiful antique shops and 'picker's' paradise thrift shops and flea markets. New England's largest outdoor flea market, The Elephant Trunk is a 15 minute drive and open in the summer. Epic Summertime County fairs, farmer's markets, farm stands and farm to table dining make country living or visiting ideal. Hiking, biking and all manner of water sports are available for you to choose. Nearby Marinas rent powerboats, etc. The owners provide optional rental Kayaks, a Sunfish sailboat and a 4 person pedal-boat to make your way across the lake to the town beach to meet the ice cream truck, have your kids play at the playground or to listen to music performed at the town's pavilion. The house has a large private dock for afternoon drinks, dining, fishing, swimming, with plenty of space to dock watercraft. There is a firepit by the water to relax and enjoy a book and drinks in the evening. Homebody guests can enjoy books, DVDs and boardgames for all ages. Winter provides other fun outdoor activities. Skiing is nearby.
All the comforts of home await your arrival in a lovingly furnished 3 bedroom 2 bath cottage. There is an outside area for barbecuing, deck or patios for dining, sunbathing and taking in the views. The 1000 sf home offers a large living, kitchen and dining area. The unique, handmade walnut dining table seats 6 comfortably. The kitchen island has three counter height chairs for additional dining space and for hanging out chatting with the chef (if you love cooking!) It's ideal for parents to feed hungry children after a full day of swimming, skiing or exploring the region. The kitchen is fully equipped for entertaining. The Master bedroom has a Queen-sized bed, TV and views of the lake. The gracefully appointed Guest room has a full size bed. The children's room also boasts a view of the lake and sleeps 3 (a bunk bed and trundle for 3rd child or friend). A modern touch inspired the newly renovated bathroom with a deep tub/shower combination. Ample linens and towels provided. (Beach towels too!) In the hall, a cubby was designed for you to keep your shoes and hang your coats. The unfinished basement offers a bonus full bathroom with a shower for those times you need the extra space. Dogs are considered on a case by case basis, with an additional fee. The home is professionally cleaned between visitors and housecleaning is available for longer visitors. We limit the overnight guests to 6 individuals.
In today’s age of limitless digital monitoring devices, we want you to know that we take the privacy of our guests very seriously. A video doorbell by Ring is installed at our home to monitor the front entry when it is unoccupied. It is never used to monitor our guests comings and goings. We respect our guests need for privacy. There are no monitoring devices within the home.

About Jane Wieder
We are a family of 4, transplanted from New York City, lured by the beautiful countryside and lifestyle of Sherman. We owned a vacation home in Sherman for 15 years before ultimately calling it home. We purchased this vacation rental to share our love of the area with friends and renters who want to discover why we love the area so much. We live nearby and can offer customized recommendations to meet your preferences and hopes for a memorable vacation.
Jane Wieder purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Jane Wieder chose Sherman
We bought this vacation rental property because of its ideal location both on the lake and in the town of Sherman. It is close by so we can help renters as needed. It is situated nicely on the property with views of the lake and close proximity to town.
What makes this Cottage unique
It is all about the view, the beautiful relaxing interior space and being on the water. Bar none, people approach with appreciation for the location, the charm and the peace and serenity.

Home away from home...
This is our "go to" home when we visit the area. Jane (the hostess) has thought of all the extras not seen in many rentals. She just always makes us feel so welcome. The home is warm and inviting with a great view. She is responsive to any needs or questions. Quiet and peaceful. Was fun to start to see the signs of spring
We always enjoy hosting you and look forward to hosting again when you return to the area!
A jewel in Conneticut!
If there were one word to describe: "perfect!"
One of the best vacation rentals stayed.
Their welcome baskets consisting of nice bottles of wines and snacks; amenities of individual in-room sleeper sandals, bed socks, toileteries, and much more were very thoughtful.
Serene atmosphere and lovely lake view (although they were frozen, beautifully covered with snow).
We enjoyed many board games they offered, myriad dvd choices, and antiquing in Kent, a city nearby. Mohawk mountain skiing was also fun.
Owner of the property was prompt to text back with answers when we had questions.
This property in Sherman, CT is only about 90 minutes reach from North Jersey, and would definitely want to return for the spring/summer.
Thank you Jane!
We love it when our guests enjoy coming to the peace and quiet of the Lakehouse. In particular, those who appreciate the area in the Winter! Thank you for your kind remarks and of course we look forward to hosting you in the warmer climate!

Jane was Great host . Provided us with lots of extras in the house . House warming gifts for the stay. Even had the lights on for us before we arrived. Can't wait to come back and relax again. I would recommend this place to everyone. Thanks again Jane. We can't wait to come back in the spring/summer.
So happy you enjoyed the House. Please do come when you can enjoy the warm weather and the lake.
What a find!
There was absolutely nothing more we could have asked for! Jane thought of everything. The weather was perfect and the environment was simply beautiful. Several day trips to outlying towns brought surprises and beautiful scenery. The leaves are changing and sunrises and sets were wonderful on the lake. The dogs loved walks. We'll be back- next time longer! Thank you for such a warm welcome. We relaxed immediately. Mission accomplished!!
We are so pleased you enjoyed our beautiful lake. We’d love to welcome you back at any time.
Great house right on the lake
We enjoyed our weekend at this house. Well located and it was nice to sit and relax on the lounge chairs on the dock. We would definitely want to stay here again.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write. It was a pleasure hosting you and we would love to have you come again.
You never need to leave the area if you want to just enjoy the peace of lake living and homemade feasts and sitting by the lake by a firepit.
