About the property

Southwest exposure on pristine Seven Mile Lake in the Nicolet Forest!

NOW BOOKING SUMMER 2018 WEEKS!

Looking for a 'back to nature' retreat with family or friends? Look no further than this home on Seven Mile Lake. This cedar sided walk-out ranch style home sleeps 12-18 people with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. With 2 master suites, a bunk room with 3 sets of cedar log bunk beds and a full sized futon and 2 additional guest rooms, there's room for everyone!

The upper level has a master suite, guest room with a queen bed, a second guest room with a pull-out full bed, and a full bath. A fully equipped kitchen with sit-up bar, dining table, couches and 32' TV makes the living space enjoyable for all.

3 large, 2 panel sliding glass doors give you the feeling that you're outside and a deck that runs the full length of the home allows you to visit, cook and dine in the 200' treetops.

Gas fireplaces on both floors add to the Northwoods feel, but you're not going to need them on - radiant heating in the basement floors keep the home exceptionally warm even on the coldest days!

Washer and dryer are available for use in the laundry room that connects the upper level master bath with the garage entry/kitchen.

The lower level has a second master suite, dry bar with access to a utility sink and second full size refrigerator, sectional couch with 55' TV and Blu Ray player, and our amazing children's bunk room with 3 sets of cedar log bunk beds, a full size futon and an 'old school' TV with Atari games. A dart board and bimini ring game in the rec room provide indoor fun after a day on the lake or trails and a cabinet filled with board games will help pass time on rainy days.

Basic DirecTV programming is available in the upper and lower living rooms. WiFi access is available for $12/Gig.

Towels and bedding are provided, as are basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, ziploc bags, tin foil, wax paper, dish soap and laundry detergent. We hope this makes shopping and packing easier, but we ask that if you use the last of an item that you replace it before leaving.

Seven Mile Lake is a Class A Musky Lake, with prize-winning fish caught just 200 yards off our pier. The home is situated on a bay on the northeast side of the lake and a gradual sand bottom entry makes it perfect for young children. The property boasts over 350' of frontage, but add that to the national forest land adjacent to the property and your play area goes on forever!

In summer, take advantage of the evening sun at the beachfront fire pit. In winter, travel the snowmobile trails on the west side of the lake or the Nicolet cross country ski trails just east of the home.

WIFI: WiFi is available for $12/Gig. If you would like to add this service, please indicate how much data you would like to purchase. There is cell phone coverage on the property, though it may be spotty depending on carrier/exact location. There is also a land line that can be used as needed.

WINTER VISITORS: The driveway has a curved hill. 4wd vehicles are recommended. If you need to park at the bottom sleds are available in the garage to help with car unloading. Be sure to take a few runs down the driveway when you're done!

SNOWMOBILERS: Depending on your trailer size, you may want/need to park in a nearby trail lot and sled in. Once at the house, enjoy the 2 car heated garage as you finish one ride and prep for the next!

SUMMER VISITORS: As with most places in the Northwoods, the home does not have central air. There are, however, ceiling or standing fans in every room. Cross breezes and fans should help keep you cool when you're not on the lake.

WATER SPORTS: Our dock is available for you to tie up your pontoon, ski or fishing boat. Jet skis are not allowed.

About Kellie Kalberer

Jon and Kellie and their 3 children live in southern Wisconsin. They spent years looking for the 'perfect' Northwoods home and finally found it. And now they want to share this magnificent property with you.

Kellie Kalberer purchased this house in 2014

Why Kellie Kalberer chose Northeast

The towering hemlocks and crystal clear water give this property an amazing sense of privacy. The beauty of the adjacent national forest land is magnificent.

What makes this house unique

The southwestern exposure and sandy beach is very unique in the Northwoods, especially in a rental. Watch the kids make sand castles as you cook dinner over the lakeside fire pit and tell ghost stories as you watch the sunset.

family vacation in the northwoods

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 11 had plenty of room for all adults and three children. The house had everything we needed and more, very spacious and nicely furnished. The views are beautiful and has a nice area down by the pier with a nice fire pit. We would come back. the only thing that I would suggest is a generator. we lost power twice on our visit, but we made the best of it.

Another Wonderful family weekend of relaxing, fishing, sledding & fun!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd stay at this property, and once again, it was absolutely wonderful! This is my mom's Christmas present, a weekend together for all of us. There were 12 of us and MORE than enough room for all! We had enjoyed it so much last year, we added a night this year to have an extra day of fishing and fun! The house comes very equipped with everything you could need....dishes, toilet paper, towels, laundry, spices, etc. I have no doubt this will not be our last stay....looking forward the next year already!

Winter wonderland....

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd year in a row renting the "Jewel in the Forest" and we hope to be back next year! We couldn't have been happier with our stay once again, this house and location has it all! We were greeted by 8+ inches of fresh snow which was fantastic for sledding down the driveway, snowshoeing around the lake/nearby forests, X-C skiing at the nearby Anvil trails, walks on the roads or just to sit back relax and watch the snow fall. Located next to the Nicolet National Forest this house is an outdoor enthusiasts dream! OR if being inside around a fire playing games, watching movies, and relaxing is your cup of tea you can do that as well. The house is very well organized with all of the necessities that you need (bowls, cups, cooking needs, kids dinnerware, large pantry to store your stuff) without being cluttered. We had three families that got together for the weekend. The owner was phenomenal to work with, very accommodating, and had quick turnaround in our correspondence. We hope to return again! Thanks for sharing your house and location with us!

Great for groups or large family gathering!

  • 4 of 5

Stayed January2017 for an annual fishing trip to the northwoods. I've stayed in many of the lake houses available for rent throughout Eagle River, St. Germain, Three Lakes, Minocqua, Boulder Junction, and Rhinelander. Clean, well designed house for a winter getaway. Plenty of common spaces to come together to enjoy company as well as space to sneak away for an early bedtime without being disturbed. The master bedroom bed is extremely comfortable!

With ice fishing gear, It's a bit of a hike down/up the steeply sloped lot to the lake, but once there, the boathouse was perfect to store gear overnight. Plenty of success catching perch, walleye, and pike about 200' off the shore of the property!

Only downsides to the stay was having to take our trash with us upon departure when most other northwoods rental properties have a property manager or cleaning service take care of that. There is a local trash station but hours are limited and didn't serve us for a Sunday departure in the winter. Also a 10am check-out is earlier than other northwoods rentals (I've found 11am to be somewhat standard).

The property is about a 20-25 minute drive to town but there are also plenty of fish fry options within 15minutes of the house. We liked that it's more remote than most properties. Not much for mobile data reception, mobile phone calls weren't an issue. You'll need 4-wheel-drive or a good set of snow tires to access the house in the winter as the driveway is curved and sloped.

Overall, very nice amenities and an enjoyable, relaxing stay. I have no reservations recommending this property for a group, family, or couples weekend getaway. Kellie is also helpful and easy to work with.

Owner's Response: We're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and had a successful fishing trip. Indeed, one of the best spots on the lake is straight out from our property! We welcome you back at any time! We too appreciate the remote location and "getting away from it all." But sometimes that comes with trade-offs. We wish we had better trash options in the area as well. If we were to hire someone to remove it we'd have to increase our rates to accommodate for that cost, so we've opted to keep our rates lower. Our checkout time is bound by our cleaning crew that typically cleans 2 properties back-to-back. This is lock tight in summer weeks, but if you stay with us again in the winter please feel free to ask if an 11 AM checkout is a possibility. We will accommodate if possible!

Beautiful place, very hard to get to......

  • 3 of 5

This is such a beautiful home, unfortunately the sewer smell overtook us for the weekend. We had to keep the bathroom doors closed. Owner warned us to run all the water to get rid of the smell and we did do that, but it did not help. Very hard to get to with a trailer full of snowmobiles and no place to park a trailer. Left a small jack knife in the cottage which owner sent back but charged us postage plus $20. ( poor customer service there with that fee) Vey lovely home for summer renters. Sewer needs attention.

Owner's Response: We'd like to address the items you mentioned. SEPTIC. Yes, the pipes dry out when the home sits empty and rewetting them with a flush and the faucet cures the problem. In our check-in instructions, we specifically state to notify us immediately if there are any problems. Had you done this to let us know the smell did not subside we could have had our maintenance person there in minutes to address it. Our cleaning crew noticed the smell after you left and upon quick investigation, we found that snow had plugged the septic exhaust vent on the roof. It was easily cleared and the smell eliminated. LOST ITEMS: Our Rental Agreement that you agreed to at booking states "ITEMS LEFT IN HOME – We are not responsible for any personal items left in the home. Thoroughly check the home before you leave for any personal items. If after check out you request us to search the home for the forgotten item and the item is found, the item will be returned by mail COD with a service charge of $20." Our cleaners found one engraved knife. It looked special, so we reached out to let you know we found it. You said you'd actually lost 2 knives. My cleaner drove 25 minutes to the house, searched it, found the second knife, drove back to town, provided packing material, went to the post office and mailed it. You were charged the $20 service fee and less than $4 postage. A lot of time and effort was put in to find and return the knives you left behind - that is good customer service. LOCATION: The location of the home is well marked in the listing. And we clearly state that we are in a forest. TRAILER: We've pulled 12 foot trailers up the driveway and parked them. Depending on the amount of snow, sometimes there is more room to maneuver than others. We cannot control snowfall. We advise all guests to thoroughly read the Rental Agreement and ask any questions they may have before booking. And as always, if you have an issue during your stay let us know right away so we can fix it for you. We want you to enjoy your vacation at our home.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful house and view. The house was fully stack with anything you simply think about, very spacious and clean. We did not have to think of things to do, so many games, activities and dvd's. For sure will come back again to this location, loved it.
