About Brian Olsen

On the first visit to Hill Country in late 90's I knew when the right opportunity arose to make this area my home. I have a health industry background and now work as caretaker for the property.

Brian Olsen purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Brian Olsen chose Hill Country

These cabins were built in 1935 by a family from the area. While renovating each I am keeping as much of the original features as possible and updates with all appliances, heating and cooling.

What makes this cabin unique

The river access is across the road from the cabins. The property is along a good swimming and scenic area at Kelly Creek crossing and the Historical Sherman's Mill area. Two miles west is the Hunt Store and gateway to both North and South Forks of the Guadalupe River.

Great little cabin on the Guadalupe!

  • 5 of 5

We had a super-relaxing weekend here on the river. Easy and pleasant drives to Fredricksburg, Enchanted Rock, Luckenbach, and Lost Maples state park. We did 'em all!! Ton's of fun in all directions, and the river right across the road to canoe, swim, or just float! The owner is super friendly and provides all kinds of amenities such as canoes, life jackets, etc. He even stocked the grills with charcoal and lighter fluid!

Little slice of heaven!

We cannot wait to go back! The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and very clean. It was equipped with everything you could need for a get away. Loved the porch swing.

The river access is ideal. Beautiful and quiet, complete with picnic tables, chairs and fire pits.

The owner, Brian, is a super nice guy and he responded to all of our questions promptly and with a smile.

We had a perfect stay and we highly recommend Casita Blu Dos!

We had a great time!

Nice cabin with rustic appeal. Very comfortable for two (other cabins at their site have more sleeping space). Nicely stocked with cooking/eating utensils, bathroom necessities, etc. But the best part was where they are on the Guadalupe River. I'm 5'3" and the swimming area was large enough that I had plenty of room to swim/float and still touch bottom. Of course, there are deeper areas, but their property has a nice swimming area. My husband and I are in our 60's and we were able to get in and out fairly easily with the ladder. It is on a busy road, so you do have to watch for traffic crossing to swimming hole. We enjoyed sitting on the swing mornings and evenings. One word of warning. If you are staying on Sunday night, plan on having your dinner in the cabin, as all the local restaurants close around 2:00 on Sunday afternoon. Our host was very nice and helpful when we needed anything or had questions. Our dog was welcomed and enjoyed the other dogs staying there. The lawn did have a lot of soft cockle burrs that had to be combed out of her longer fur a couple times a day. We will be back.

Love this cabin!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was nicer on the inside than I imagined from the pictures! It had everything we needed and a cute sliding barn door. The extra bed-single sleeper is a bit narrow, but we were able to make it work for us. We were with a large group and everyone who walked in, especially the college kids, thought the cabin was great! We loved the river side picnic area with the tables and fire ring. Couldn't have asked for more.

BTW Brian is super nice. If you are a runner there is a great run right up Kelly Creek Road!

We had a really wonderful stay here

My wife and I, and two dogs, stayed in these cabins recently. We booked the cabin immediately in front of you as you enter the property, and we were really happy. This cabin had the right amount of rustic feel without compromising on the comfort. The kitchen is well stocked (including some basics like coffee and filter, salt and pepper etc.). There is also a TV with Netflix channels and free WiFi. Best of all (for us) these cabins are dog friendly, with a dog run on site for them to run around in. Plus the Guadalupe River is just across the road. And Brian, the owner, was so helpful and friendly. I truly recommend this place for a restful break from the madding crowd.
