We had an absolute blast at Shelly and Stacie's place. We spent our weekend around the fire, playing games and just talking. The house itself is straight out of a fairytale. It was the epitome of cozy. And we were there for the first snowfall which made it that much cozier! We spent the day in Marquette, MI poking our heads into tiny shops and watching the waves from Lake Superior crash. While leaving, all eight of us said how excited we were to come back.
There were 8 of us visiting the Upper Michigan for a weekend Mountain Biking in Marquette, MI the cabin to be a nice and plenty of room for everyone, You can catch fish from outside the cabin, definetly was worth what we spend for this cabin, fast refund for the damage,
We had a great experience staying here! The cabin was right on the river basin with dock access. The fishermen in the family were thrilled about that! The location was centrally located to the sights that we were headed to. The house had plenty of beds, blankets, towels, etc. for our stay! The yard was nice with a tire swing for the kids! It did get really hot there a couple of the days. Although there are fans available to use- I would recommend bringing a couple more. Bug Spray is a must for the area! There is a public beach about a mile away that was very well kept and with a nice playground a swimming area. We definitely would stay again if we are in the area! We had a couple of questions during our stay and the owners answered our questions very quickly.
We had a very nice time at this cabin with my 4 siblings & spouses. It was clean, and roomy & we would recommend it to others. We planned to do many of the outdoor activities in the area, but couldn't because of the rain. It was easy to find things to do indoors in the area. Several things that we found that that we would have liked to know before we came: It would have been nice to know that to get to one of the bedrooms you needed to go through the bathroom to get there and it would be nice to have some curtains on the windows of the porch bedroom for some privacy. Also we had some problems getting the lights to work, but the owner came quickly and fixed the problem.
There were 9 of us visiting the UP for a week and we found the cabin to be a nice, quiet place to relax and serve as a base camp for our UP shenanigans. My nine year-old got a kick out of catching rock bass from the dock and there are many fishing opportunities nearby. The cabin was not as big as it looked in the pictures but was suitable for a cozy getaway. I thought it was a little more expensive than it should be and there was a lot of clutter around the house - all the stuff in the picture, under the porch, is actually there. There was a boat curiously left half in/half out of a shed by the lake. Lastly, the trash cans were not sufficient to keep the raccoons out, twice leaving us with trash strewn across the property. All pretty minor things but contribute to the experience none-the-less.
This was our 1st time staying in the UP. While Republic Township is far from most of the towns (Marquette is about 45 minutes away), it did not bother us at all. It forced us to see even more of the beautiful areas the UP has to offer.
This cabin is maintained. The location, sitting on the Michigamee River Basin, is great. While we had one issue upon checking in, it was quickly resolved by the owner. In just about any propertly you stay you can run into some issue, so the important part to me is how does the owner respond. The owner here stayed in touch with me regularly and quickly provided a solution so I was very pleased. Our security deposit was also quickly refunded - another plus for the owner.
We have been renting properties through VRBO for a number of years and this was one of the best experiences we have had.
