Stay was great, bugs were tough, but that's to be expected in the off-season. Thanks Fred

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was an awesome house, especially for large groups. The view from the deck was like none other. The property manager was very helpful with showing us the house and how to get there from town. There is also a nice breeze that comes up off of the bay, making the heat a little more bearable. Be prepared to see critters hiding in the house, we had a couple resident lizards, but they are totally harmless. I highly recommend this property!

Incredible stay at Tropical Manor

  • 5 of 5

We have visited Coral Bay a few times but this is our first trip with another family with our teen kids - 4 between the ages of 15-17. We wanted a house that could comfortably sleep 8, had a nice view of Coral Bay, had a large enough pool for all of us and an outdoor entertainment area (bar, grill, tv).

Not only did Tropical Manor meet our needs, it exceeded our expectations. Kids loved the bedrooms with their outdoor showers, the pool and the views. Adults enjoyed the upstairs outdoor leisure space and the entertainment area down by the pool. We were all able to be in the same space while the dads grilled out while watching the Masters, the wives sat at the bar enjoying a beverage and the teens swam in the pool - all within a few feet of each other. Truly a great space for all to enjoy.

We had one small issue while there and the handyman 'Fred' was there within 20 minutes - incredible service. Could not have asked for more.

Highly recommend Tropical Manor for adults and / or families. Teens enjoyed the loft area and the two outdoor social areas allowed the parents to get some adult time while the teens had their own space as well.

Plenty of parking for two jeeps, plenty of beach chairs, towels and a cooler to make sure that you have everything you need for your beach hopping trips.

Can't wait to get back.

Loved Tropical Manor and St. John!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned home after spending the most perfect vacation on St. John and renting Tropical Manor. There were 6 people in our group aged 13 to 62. There was room for everyone and plenty of space for togetherness...yet quiet private area/ bedrooms for all. My teenage son absolutely loved sleeping in the loft, his own private space above the living area. The views of Coral Bay from every area were stunning. The veranda was such a special area to spend in the mornings enjoying a cup of coffee with a view. We spent our evenings on the upper veranda/deck area sipping wine (adults only) and playing games. This house is so special--it is interesting in architechture...full of island and nautical charm. The outdoor showers were really neat! The house has beautiful landscaping, too, lots of flowering shrubs and plants and fruit trees. Fred the caretaker was really awesome to show our son all the key lime trees and where there were pineapples growing. He and my son picked a few limes--they smelled heavenly! Our son went out eagerly every day to see what fruits would be ripe enough to harvest. He picked a few more limes, the pineapples were not quite ready before our week was up. My son thought the gardens and the pool here were terrific!

The location is also a bonus. Very short trip into Coral Bay and a short scenic drive (about 20 minutes) takes you to Cruz Bay. The beaches, sand and water were the best we have ever seen. We spent a lot of time swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and beach combing. We did eat most of our evening meals out in Coral Bay--there are several great spots. Skinny Legs is a must experience!!

Jane the property manager and Fred the property care taker of Tropical Manor were so great. They were very kind and responsive to all of our questions and were sure we had everything we needed and were genuinely caring that we had a good time on St. John and at Tropical Manor.

The house was so wonderful and fit our needs and exceeded our expectations for accommodation on the island. We enjoyed being lulled to sleep by the crickets chirping, and the gentle warm island breezes. The stars were out in force on many of our nights, too, it was so beautiful. We loved St. John and would happily return. We would definitely consider staying again at Tropical Manor!

Thank you Jane and thank you Fred!

A Destination to make a Dream Vacation Come True

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing property!! WOW! It's not very often that an owner delivers MORE than what was described or promised but in this instance that's exactly what we got. This is a beautiful villa, fabulous architechture and design, wonderfully equipped kitchens (indoor and out), a view to rival any, beautiful landscaping, quality throughout (matres, bedding, decor, comforts), and privacy. The pool is refreshing, has depth and includes a great view of it's own. We found it difficult to leave for day trips! It was way more house than what we needed, but this was a trip to celebrate our retirement - we saved our entire working lives for this and the Tropical Manor was a worthwhile indulgence. Driving to the villa a bit of a challenge, but as we came to know - better than any of the mountain roads in St. John - there is a good reason they rent only jeeps! The host, Jane, was gracious, welcoming, and we were confident that if there was anything we needed, we would have it. Beaches in St. John were amazing; Francis Bay clear and uncrowded. Cinnimon bay we cought on a day with tall surf and had fun in the waves. Saltpond bay another fabulous, uncrowded beach with interesting places to walk. Be sure to have Miss Vie make lunch for you at Hansen Bay, also a beautiful. uncrowded beach - the whole tour abound the East end very worthwhile. What we needed in St. John was more time! Other items I wish we would have taken are binnoculars and our own snorkeling gear (very few places to rent, especially if you're after a less crowded beach experience). We want to come back and bring our kids and their families! The cost of groceries and other goods is high; we would probably shop on St. Thomas before getting on the Ferry. We visited all 3 of the USVI and have to say that St. John was our favorite - they each have amazing beauty, but if we could go back to just one - we'd pick the Tropical Manor.

We vacation as we live.........IN STYLE

  • 5 of 5

We love St John and the villa " Tropical Manor". We are currently on our fourth visit to this home and will be sure to return again and again. The view is glorious, the veranda large and comfortable with new furnishings and an enclosure to protect you from too much sun and the occasional tropical rain. The decor is personal and not "rental". The couches and beds are clean and comfortable. Every area of the home is cared for from the cushions the flowering plants. I am a cook and the kitchen is stocked extremely well. Anything you think you may need for staying in or going out is at your fingertips. The house layout is so cool with a detached master suite offering ventilation from four sides which is never stuffy . We especially love the hand carved mahogany four poster bed. Down one level there are three beautiful bedrooms with king beds all off another beautiful deck, fully equipped kitchen and a brand new pool which is fantastic at the end of a long day on St John! Did I say NEW pool! I am a retiring architect and if I were to build a home on this island I would want the builder of Tropical Manor. I suspect he or she built boats because the wood detailing and special touches are extremely rare in home building today.

On the critter note: One reviewer wrote that they loved this home except for the bugs. Well we have never had an encounter that was extreme or alarming or thought provoking, what so ever, I hate camping (which is all about bugs!) and never felt them to be an issue during our time here. However we are in the topics and we feel an occasional siting should be expected!

Where you stay is as important and where you choose to vacation and we are never disappointed here.
