Janet Scott purchased this house in 2002

Why Janet Scott chose University Park

This property had been in one family for many years. We purchased it from the daughter, who had grown up in the house. She still stops by when she is in town and knocks on the door, checking to see how it is doing. She had some interesting stories and she had an entire basement of antiques to clear out when she moved. It is sort of a house that stays with you, very interesting design.

What makes this house unique

The house was built in the early 1900's but has such a large open floor plan with high ceilings, that it is rarely seen in this vintage of house. Typically the rooms are small and tight, but this one took our breath away when we walked in. Upstairs is a large, cupola style room, with windows on all walls. You feel like you are in a tree house, once up there. It is currently the master bedroom but had been used as a music room. We had fun ripping out the 1960's bath (if fun is the correct word!) and redesigning a more functional layout, with a full tub and shower, huge vanity. We still have plenty of ideas, but just love this big beauty!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Listen to the many voices of the past. This home has sheltered from spring time Rockies snow storm yet another family passing through time.

Grateful for the time and sacred space created by the generous and kind hosts.

Our time here in Fort Collins added to another Family's fond memories that will remain as cherished treasures.

Great location and spacious

  • 5 of 5

Nicely updated home. Was actually surprised, when first walking in, how big and spacious it was. Great location! We walked to Old Town, Pickle Barrell, and the new CSU stadium. Would have been nice to have another bathroom, but we managed pretty well with just the one. Highly recommend this home.

Great Place for Fort Collins Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for a weekend in Fort Collins.

Cool house, great touches, plenty of parking off street (important in FtC now).

Walking distance to campus/new football stadium. Very close to Old Town, but quiet.

Walking distance to the Pickle Barrel (the best sandwich in CO).

Janet was great to work with.

Surpassed expectations

  • 5 of 5

Great location, Nicely furnished, very clean and well equipped. Loved the extra touches such as kitchen items, washing supplies and bathroom items. Very comfortable bedrooms and common areas. The extra large dining table was ideal, and front porch was a bonus. Highly recommend.

Family Reunion

  • 4 of 5

Several members of my family stayed here for a family reunion. I stayed for one night with them. The location was perfect for us, Old Town within easy walking distance, very convenient! House was very clean, beds comfortable, nice big common areas. We were there during New West Fest. It was nice in one way, easy walking and could here music right from the house! I did have a problem finding a parking place near the house on Saturday night of the festival. Having one bathroom was a bit of a challenge, but everybody cooperated so that worked out..

Owner's Response: Yes, the West Festival brings in a lot of folks! There were 73 bands and you could actually walk down and hear the Steve Miller Band for free, along with all of the other festival goers at the main stage on Saturday night. Great weekend of fun, music and entertainment!

Great rental & location

  • 4 of 5

This was a great reunion house for our friends and family. With plenty of space for everyone and a short walk to everything. We did have a bit of difficulty sharing the lone bathroom with seven people, but we knew it would be an issue going into the rental. The owner was wonderful and provided us with everything we need. I would definitely stay here again.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

The property was in a great location, within walking distance to downtown and the breweries. The home was spacious and clean, and we had everything we needed. The one bathroom was a bit of a challenge with 6 of us staying there, but we survived. The owner was great to work with.

Super convenient location to CSU, Old Town, a few blocks away. New restaurants each week, craft distilleries now open in Old Town as well as the very popular breweries. Be sure to check out the CSU gardens in the summer, very beautiful. Also a few blocks from the Max, where you can hop on and travel up and down Fort Collins, for more things to do and see.
