About the property

Beautiful home newly decorated, new appliances, hot tub and pets acceptable

This wonderful house named 'Bluewater' has been overhauled top to bottom, inside and outside. Inside, the house is extremely spacious and well appointed, with all new plush beds, new appliances and new flat screen TVs. Outside, there are numerous decks, a screened porch with new gas grill and dining table, plus a hot tub and hammock and swinging seats in the shade. You will really be happy when you return from the beach as there are two separate outdoor showers. This incredible home is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac very near the fitness center, 15 acre lake, lakeside pool, tennis courts, playground and basketball courts. It is a short stroll or bike ride to the beach-front pool. We have a great view of the Currituck Lighthouse which comes to life each evening at dark.

In terms of bedrooms, there are two masters on the second floor with king size beds and en suite bathrooms. One of the masters has a built in desk for working and we provide a printer/fax/copier to help keep up with things back at the office. On the first floor, there is a bunk room that sleeps four and two bedrooms with queen beds. All beds are brand new and are plush (i.e., very comfortable). We provide sheets and bath towels for your use, so no packing or renting linens.

Check in on Friday - Get checked-in, settled and relaxing faster and with less hassle than Saturday-Saturday rentals (when 65-70% of OBX vacationers arrive/depart).

Beach - Find the beach a five minute walk away - for your convenience we provide: beach chairs, beach umbrella, beach toys, cooler, and a beach cart to get you and your necessities to and from the beach.

Getting to the Beach:

Walking (5 minutes)-slip out the back door, walk across to Ocean Hill Blvd East, turn left onto Windance Lane, access to beach (and closest parking lot) on right side about 600 feet down the street

Driving (2-3 minutes)-go North on Rt. 12 about 1/4 mile, after sharp turn, turn right onto Headwind Way and parking lot, ocean side pool and snack bar are straight ahead

Hot Tub and Pools - we have a 5-6 person hot tub on the second level in the shade under the screen porch (3rd level). We do not have a private pool, but the closest neighborhood pool is within approximately 200 feet of the house and we have usually found it to be quiet and not crowded. Both that pool and the ocean side pool are large and staffed during the day and include chairs and tables with umbrellas.

Renter Reviews - We have owned and rented another 5BR home in Wintergreen, VA for 9 years and there are 100+ renter reviews that are all outstanding. To get a sense of how we furnish and maintain our houses and communicate with renters, please see reviews for house #73537 on VRBO.

About Gina and Chris Hamilton

We have been enjoying the Outer Banks for many decades. We bought a house in Villages of Ocean Hill last year and have been so pleased by the location and community amenities that we jumped at the opportunity to buy a second home as a rental property

Gina and Chris Hamilton purchased this house in 2014

Why Gina and Chris Hamilton chose Northern Coast & Outer Banks

You will be stunned by this property inside and outside. It is well designed and conveniently located for lots of activities. It is also well suited to an executive that wants to get away with their family and still have some work space with a phone, internet and printer/fax/copier.

What makes this house unique

We have put a lot of effort into making this a very comfortable and well appointed home. You will no doubt say 'wow' when you arrive.

Comfortable, clean, and convenient to everything

  • 5 of 5

Our week at Bluewater was very fun and relaxing. It was a very quick bike ride to beach access thanks to the two bikes and kids trailor that are provided, and a delicious coffee and beer garden, tons of restaurants, the Corolla Adventure Park, historic Old Corolla, the lighthouse...All were a moment's walk, ride or drive away. We really didn't need our car except for grocery trips. The house is in a cul-de-sac next to the (small) main road, which made for fun people watching and gave us a feel of seclusion since we weren't looking right into someone's backyard. Being able to bring the dog was a bonus. There's an enclosed pebbled area under the house for off leash potty breaks...not having to walk him every time he needed to go was great.

Bluewater Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

A perfect week for my family over our kids Spring & Easter Break!

The listing description was 100% accurate, while being both clean & well maintained. The hands-on owners went out of their way to communicate & make our stay at their house very enjoyable.

The Bikes & Hot Tub (with great Lighthouse views) only added to our Great Week in Corolla. Thanks!

Bluewater: An Inspiring, Stunning Beach House For a Writer and Her Dog

  • 5 of 5

To help with my profound grief after having lost my beloved mom, and to focus my energies on writing my own projects (vs. my client's), I decided to rent a beach house in the OBX with my dog, Lorenzo, for the winter months. While I knew that the scent, sight, and sensation of the Atlantic would help to soothe my aching soul, I had no idea just how much the particular house I chose to rent would do the same.

Lorenzo and I awoke pre-sunrise each morning and ventured to the ocean. Throughout our 2-month stay, we explored various paths, back streets, & hide-away shortcuts to the sea. Every morning from the seashore, we beheld the glory of that one sun star rising over the Atlantic. In the afternoons, we explored the deserted back streets of the Ocean Hill neighborhood. In the early evenings, Lorenzo and I would either sit on the community's deck overseeing the 10-acre fishing lake (a 30-second walk from the house), or we’d venture over to the Currituck Sound Park (a 1-minute drive from the house) and watch the duck hunters dock their boats and the sun splash over the Sound as it set on another day. Some days Lorenzo and I would walk up to the 4x4 beach where the horses run free, or we’d explore the well-maintained wood trail at the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge just up the road from the house.

My hours exploring the well-maintained neighborhood with Lorenzo were further inspired by the hours enjoyed in the wide-open space of Bluewater. I wrote at the big table outside on the top deck, with the famous Currituck Lighthouse in view. I wrote from the huge built-in desk in the master bedroom, with the view of the cul-de-sac and the Fitness Center just a stone’s throw from the windows. I wrote at the cool blue countertop that hugged the kitchen. I wrote at the dining room table surrounded by nearly floor-to-ceiling windows; I wrote at the coffee table, and I wrote from a lounge chairs on the back deck overlooking Route 12.

I relaxed in the hot tub every night, often took bike rides to the beach, the Chapel, and the library, and -- on the rare occasions I chose to drive somewhere, I'd go to the Food Lion for groceries (just 7 minutes away), the North Banks Restaurant & Raw Bar for their crazy-good Colossal Lump Crab Grenades (8 minutes), or Harris Teeter for their fabulous fried chicken (9 minutes).

Bluewater is a cool combination of every beach lover's dream: a high-end beach house situated in the center of a serene, nature-filled setting.

Awesome house for the holidays! Loved it so much!

  • 5 of 5

For the first time ever, we decided to celebrate the 2016-2017 holidays in the Outer Banks this year. Though we weren’t quite certain at first in which community we wanted to rent a beach house for 9 whole weeks, when we came upon the Bluewater listing, we knew we had discovered not only the perfect location/neighborhood, but also the most fabulous, pristine, and beautiful beach house in all of our research! While absolutely everything in the house and the community were perfect, there are some components that stand out and worthy of mention here.

The Kitchen - We absolutely appreciated the convenience of the dishwasher, the garbage disposal, and the large sink; however, what we loved most about the kitchen was the always-loaded, built-in ice maker surreptitiously situated right next to the stove! It was the first beach house we ever rented in the Outer Banks that had a built-in ice maker and we used it every day – throughout the days!

The Decks - There are three levels of decks that are all interconnected and can be easily accessed without having to go back inside or enter from a different area outside. They each offer their own unique views and perspectives of the area. The front deck faces east and, if you are an early bird, will provide you with breathtaking views of the sun rising every morning over the ocean – right from the deck! The other top deck has a brand new grille (apparently we were the first to use it), a huge circular table (perfect for playing cards, working on a project, playing a game, or eating) with plenty of chairs for everyone. To top it off, there is a roof over this area of the deck!! So, if it’s raining or you just want to be out of the direct sunlight but still want to be outside to enjoy the view of the ocean, the breeze, and the Lighthouse.

The Owners - Since we’ve never rented directly from owners before and always just rented through management companies, we weren’t quite sure how it would go (especially since we were renting the house for 9 weeks!); however, the owners were as kind and thoughtful and responsive as they were when we first started to communicate with them while planning our trip. In fact, they even dropped off a huge Christmas tree with lights and some decorations for the house for us! We were so delighted, grateful, and surprised!

Our only recommendation for prospective renters is to try to book two weeks at a time for your vacation. We stayed 9 and still weren’t ready to leave!
