Amazing time in the jungle!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I went to Belize for just over a week. We spent several days on the beach and then headed to the jungle. While the beach was very relaxing, our stay at the Toucan House really made Belize come alive. It was truly a perfect time. There is so much to see and do. We were able to go caving, see the jungle life from the lake and experience the beauty of the water falls. Our hosts were fabulous! Robert and Christy knew exactly what we need even before we asked. Robert was a wealth of knowledge for our evenings of intrigue about Belize and its depth of culture while Christy quietly and graciously created lovely meals for us to enjoy. Thank you to all who made our lifelong dream of going to Belize come true! We will be back!!

Impressive hospitality!

  • 4 of 5

Robert and Christy were excellent site managers and made our stay relaxed and stress free. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The common areas, especially the kitchen were not as clean as the rooms, but we were able to cook for ourselves easily with all the supplies and amenities we needed.

Caretaker does not do justice to our attentive hosts. They were so helpful, personable and great tour guides. The sunset horse ride through the jungle was amazing on well trained horses with the well informed local host. They even escorted us to the local river 6 minutes away by 4 wheel drive.

The local tours were much more extensive and inviting than described on the site. The company was very helpful to assist our very large family with reservations, especially when we hit travel problems. We were pleasantly surprised to discover a kitchen on site for our use when we didn't order the meals service.

The treehouse is gorgeous with several comfy decks. Loved the hot showers. The library was well stocked with Belize travel and information guides. Would recommend it.

The only negative was that power was spotty after a rainy day but it returned when the sun rose. No air conditioning was an adjustment going to sleep.

Great family stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and children (ages 10 to 20) really enjoyed out stay. The area is very remote and peaceful. Our hosts were very welcoming and the area was great to explore w/ hiking trails, native birds, and swimming in the river. If we wanted to, we had a guide available for a more formal trip. We visited the Xunantunich Mayan ruins on the way out to the Eco-stay.

The Villages

An Absolute Eco-stay highlight of our Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much; both Jorge and Daisy were great!! The food was outstanding. Daisy made some chef worthy vegetarian dishes that I wanted the recipe for to take back (even my husband loved them and he's not a vegetarian). It was really cool to hear the Howler monkeys and toucans from the lodge. Many thanks for recommending RObert with Jungle Splash Eco Tours as our many side trips were great too. The pontoon trip on the river near the lodge was really relaxing with several beautiful waterfalls. All the tour guides were top notched. All in all a wonderful vacation. Highly recommend to anyone wanting something off the beaten path.

House out in the Belizean Jungle

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the Toucan house! Jorge and his wife are so nice and were happy to tell us about the area and culture. It's quite a hike down to the river, but there's a waterfall right across from the kayaks that you can paddle over and hike in to. There's a rope swing over there too. Didn't see any toucans while we were there, but we heard the howler monkeys. The rooms are clean and cozy. It's far from town(~20 min drive) but we enjoyed being away from everyone!
