Give your kids a chance at the kind of summer vacation that your parents gave you or just come to unplug and relax. Adventurers of all kinds are welcome.
I grew up and currently still live in Eastern Connecticut. I adore the Adirondacks and have been extremely fortunate to acquire this beautiful property from my very generous parents. They fell in love with the region decades ago and instilled that love and respect in me. I in turn have shared this wonderful property with my own son and many friends and family members. I hope through these vacation rentals to share it with many more and provide others the opportunity to fall in love as I did. Because I am still employed full time, I am unable to visit as often as I'd like. By offering it for rent, I hope others can enjoy it as I and my family have and continue to create the memories that last a lifetime.
Pam Kriedeman purchased this house in 1988
The property was purchased by my folks in 1988 as a summer retreat. At the time, it had a little 2 room hunter's cabin on it. The cabin remained until 15 years ago when it was replaced with the main house that exists today. The cottage was built by my Dad while the little cabin was still in existence. The property has been a huge part of my family for the better part of my adulthood and for my son'e entire life. He spent most summers with his grandparents there - swimming, fishing, and working side by side with his Pop-Pop. It is my desire to keep the property in the family and one day pass it on to my son. Until that time, my occasional visits still serve to renew and refresh me. There's nothing like a solitary paddle from pond to flow, surrounded by nothing but peaceful solitude and the beauty of the Adirondack wild.
We just returned from a great week in the Adirondacks. The Owl's Nest was a perfect choice for us. We had three families and rented both the house and cottage which worked out great. Pam is a great host and the property has a lot to offer. Everything you need she has. We all enjoyed the water view and the kayaks were a big hit. The firepit was a great way to end the day. Some used the golf clubs to try out a local golf course. Her property is just a short drive to many local attractions. We will definitely be back again.
My husband John and I live in Virginia Beach. My husband is from Malone and we come up there to visit with all his family and friends. Last year we wanted to try and see if we could rent one of the places in Duane and were lucky enough to find out about Owls Nest. We were Pam's first guests and it was such a great experience that we came back for another two weeks this year. I kayaked for the first time in my life. It was great fun. Although we really aren't interested in fishing, swimming, boating etc. and don't spend a lot of time at the cottage, we just mainly wanted to have our own place at the end of the day to come home to. I must say in all the years we've been visiting, the last two have been my most enjoyable.
My wife and I, both seniors decided to pay a visit to this gem location. All of the promises were kept. Great location! Close to Albi's, Walmart, Price Choppers. Excellent location, we were the first to use their new Bar B Que.
As were only two persons, we stayed stayed in the loft which was more than large enough for us. We saw the people that booked the house out in the kayaks and rowboat. As there was rain and cool temperatures, we did not partake in the waterfront activities. WE were thankful to have a great satellite TV with numerous channels.
Pam provided a great resort, God did not cooperate with the weather.
We would return any time. .
We were very pleased with everything the Owls Nest had to offer. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Everything you could possibly need was supplied for you except for food.
It is user friendly even for a 19 month old. It was peaceful and the scenery and sunsets were fabulous.
Maybe our only complaint would be too many geese leaving their calling cards on the lawn and the fishing was not good that week, but we didn't have much time to worry about those things since we were there expressly for our son's wedding in Malone. We were far more comfortable than we would have been in a motel.
We were very impressed with how accommodating Pam was at setting up our reservation since we had tried other facilities that were unwilling to work with us on the days that we needed to be there. They wanted us to pay extra because our reservation needed to be other than Saturday to Saturday. Pam was awesome in helping everything to work out for us. We can't thank her enough and definitely will consider renting the Owls Nest again in the future. Thank you, thank you ,thank you!
Evelyn Rees and Family
We just returned from our week at the Owl's Nest - what a great getaway! We had 5 children, 5 adults and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space for all. Kids got to stay in their own house, which made life much more peaceful for the grown ups! Both houses were totally comfy and really well stocked with everything we could possibly need. While we did take trips into Tupper Lake (the Wild Center), Whiteface Mountain (mountain biking and trampolining), and Lake Placid (shopping, restaurants), there was so much to do at the Owl's Nest, we didn't need to go anywhere. There were 3 kayaks and a rowboat, with life jackets of all sizes, great swimming with a dock and a raft, amazing fishing, beautiful wildlife, and an assortment of lawn games, puzzles, board games, and books for the less adventurous! And nearby hiking trails for a little more exploring. We loved the firepit and used it every night, for s'mores, banana boats, and enjoying the sunset! The owner was helpful and accommodating, and clearly wanted to make sure we had the best possible time - thank you, Pam!
