About Deb Grant

The 'small city, big town' aspect of Portland is what drew us to Portland 25 years ago. I'm a Montana girl who loves the vibrancy of an urban atmosphere, and the culture of both countryside and town. My husband Chuck and I have partnered on many projects through the years. He currently lives on site, and I live a mile away. We enjoy working together and have put a lot of love into the Portland Belmont House. We now enjoy sharing it with others.

Why Deb Grant chose Portland

We bought this property because of its location, bones and vibes! 128 years of stories to tell. A diamond in the rough with unique character and hidden elegance made it a place worth putting our heart and soul into renovating. The rustic concrete counter tops and restored original cabinet (found on the back porch) balance out the vibrant splashes of color and high end appliances of the kitchen. Solar panels, stagger studded walls, and ample insulation look to the future while the 8' wood pocket doors, original fir floors, and intricately carved wood work reveal the past. All new electric and plumbing, and sound absorption channels between floors, help remove the unnecessary aggravations of the past to better enjoy the beauty of the space.

What makes this apartment unique

Portland Belmont House provides a quiet, comfortable home stay within a vibrant, fascinating part of Portland. We are 3 blocks from the famous Sunflower Intersection at SE 33rd and Yamhill, a uniquely Portland part of Portland. The house charms people. The great yard, patio, barbecue, (and fire pit too!) make a person feel out in the countryside, yet, only a block and a half away are the shops, world class, affordable restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, food carts galore. Public transportation is a stone's throw away. Drive down the street and you are in downtown Portland in 4 minutes. Everything you need right out your door.

  • The bathroom has the original claw foot tub. It has not been refinished but is clean and works well. It is a simple bathroom with a great view. Good light, and a good fan.

  • Both bedrooms have new queen mattresses. We get many compliments on our mattresses! Main bedroom is in the back of the house mostly away from street noise. The smaller bedroom is in the middle and gets some street noise when the window is open.

Important to know that the living room and balcony of the upper level of the house are exposed to the sounds of the street when the windows are open. Seattle to Portland bike ride

The place was great! It accommodated all six of us. The shower felt real good after on our bikes for 15 hours.

Felt like Home

We had a great stay here, we felt right at home. Deb was great and very accommodating, with our late arrival and interrupted week. We could easily get to places from here both walking and driving. It was very clean and had an at home to feel to the place. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Highly recommend for it's ease and location.

The apartment was a perfect home base for our Portland trip. It was so cozy, sunny, and cheerful - beds and pillows were comfy, kitchen and bath well stocked. I appreciated the easy check in/out, and Deb was a helpful and attentive host.

Adorable convenient apt Belmont Hawthorne

We spend a week with Deb and enjoyed every moment! This location is perfect. Close to wonderful restaurants and pubs and on the bus line! The apt was a great price and so cute. Deb provided a delightful environment and we lacked nothing. The beds were comfy and we slept well. Temps rose to over 100 and the 2air conditioners kept it very comfortable. For city living it was quiet and we loved having breakfast on the balcony. I hope to stay here again for even longer. So happy. Best of all Deb is wonderful. She is a great host. This situation in Portland Sunnyside Belmont area can not be beat!

Really great experience.

Very clean, conveniently located, easy parking. Some traffic noise (busy street). No decent grocery store within walking distance (Zupan's is closed)

Owner's Response: We miss Zupan's! There is a beautiful, new Safeway 8 short blocks away at SE 29th and Hawthorne. They deliver groceries for around $5 or so? I will get the information and leave it in the apartment. Hoping a new grocery store goes into the place where Zupan's was!!
