ALL the beds, sheets, pillows, etc are brand new for Summer 2017.

We also spent the winter updating both living rooms, installed all new faux hardwood flooring throughout the main floor and basement. Brand new large Single Bowl "farm" sink, and all new stainless steel GAS Stove.

We've also ordered all new furniture for the living room, and a new dining room table. It won't be delivered until early May, so we will update the pictures the second its all delivered.

4 King Beds, and 8 Twins. We also have a full size pull out couch in the basement family room, and a second Full size pull out in the basement bedroom.

In Beds, we can sleep 16. If you add the two pull out couches 18-20. FOUR full baths, all with showers, 2 of them have separate tub and shower.

I grew up on Long Lake, and my entire family lives on the lake. If you've never been to Long Lake, it's one of the premier lakes! Very few "Day" Boaters, crystal clear spring fed lake! If your able to rent a boat, you'll be shocked at its size.

5 Miles long North to South (this home is on the very south end of the lake, the only public launches are on the north end) And just over 2 miles wide. 5 Islands, lots to explore.

We purchased our forever home on the Lake 2 years ago. We weren't ready to move at the time, so we rented it out. It was so popular, we decided to purchase a dedicated rental property.

This home is RIGHT on the water. Most common question we receive....is there a beach. YES, Its ALL beach. You step out of the door on the lake level, and its sand. Long Lake is MUCH cleaner then Torch Lake (most people seem to have experience on Torch). Its on Par with Lake Charlevoix, Leelanau, or Glen Lake. Very sandy bottom, and a nice gradual slope. Our dock is 120ft long, and its normally just shy of 6ft deep at the end (depends on lake level for the year).

Please watch the video, this is a VERY unique floor plan, and perfect for a lake home. We we're very lucky to obtain this property.

When you walk in the main floor, you'll find a Fridge in the Entry way that can be used for beverages, and overflow items (there's also a normal fridge in the kitchen).

Main floor has a large living room, Big open Kitchen with an Island. We just refinished the cabinets in a dark grey, with stainless hardware. Large dining room, seats 12. Flat Screen TV over the fireplace.

Off the kitchen there is a huge outside deck with two large tables (why eat inside when your this close to the lake) and a BBQ. My Favorite feature of this home, is the enclosed porch that runs the whole length of the living room. You can sit inside this screened area at night, listen to the water, AND its right above the fire pit, so your not away from the action.

Main floor also has a full Bath with a separate Tub and Shower, as well as 2 beds, each with a King Size Bed.

Upstairs, we have the formal master bedroom, King Size Bed, with a large private bath. This bath ALSO has a separate Tub and Shower.

The other two bedrooms on the 2nd floor are for the Kids. Both have 2 sets of Bunk Beds (4 twins per room) for a total of 8 twin beds .... with a full bathroom between them.

If you head from the main floor downstairs, you find a walk out basement. A 2nd family room, again with a fireplace (refinished from the one you see in the pics, the ugly cast iron stove is gone), with a Flat Screen TV. We've redrywalled the family room, and added a great engineered floor. There's a door direct to the lake, open it up, take 2 big steps, and your in the lake.

There's another bedroom with a King Bed and a Full size Pull out Couch. There is a full bathroom on this level as well.

Brand new Washer and Dryer on site as well.

Our lake has very few day boaters by design. The public launch only allows for a few trailers to be parked, to keep non residents off the lake. Amazing views! And a very unique property.

About William

We purchased our forever home 2 years ago, and rented it prior to moving into it permanently. We had such an overwhelming response, we decided to purchase a 2nd home on the lake. I grew up on Long Lake, and my entire family lives around the lake.

William purchased this house in 2015

Why William chose Northwest

If your not familiar, this is thee cleanest lake in the Traverse City area. There are very few homes for rent, and only 2 or 3 of this size. The lake is 6 miles long just over 2 miles wide, and has 5 Islands. This home looks towards the north, the long way down the lake. So you have some of the best views on the lake, and incredible sunsets.

What makes this house unique

This is the only 6 Bed 3 Bath home, that sits directly at the lake level, available for rent. The other couple of homes require walks down stairs, or slopes to reach the waters edge. Since the home is so close to the water, you have the best views, as the homes on the left and right are set farther back.

Two Living rooms is very convenient for large groups, and allows everyone to have their own space.

Great size house and location

  • 5 of 5

The house comfortably fit 14 for us, and made for a great stay for the overall family. I also really enjoyed the location on the lake, the property has a great sandy swim area and made for a great jump off point for tubing and skiing. We were also able to easily park 4 cars in the driveway.

Traverse is Wonderful! House is very close to the town. Pretty View

  • 5 of 5

We had poor weather the 1st two days, then beautiful weather the send two. William helped get us into a last minute wine tour because we had to change our plans with the weather. House worked out very well for our group. 7 people who work together. Only 2 people had to share a room. And we paid about 1/3 of what 6-7 hotel rooms we're going to run us.

We came to Traverse from 2 different offices for a "Conference" at the Grand Traverse Resort. I say it that way because we all knew we would spend little time at the actual conference. Glad we decided to book off site. This home was MUCH closer to town. Almost 1/2 an hour closer then if we had stayed at the resort. We actually had some other people over one night for a gathering. Probably had 40 people between the kitchen, deck and beach area, so it will hold a fair size group. Kitchen table is a bit small, but its the biggest they could fit in the space. The deck, kitchen island, etc more then made up for it. Was able to sit in the enclosed deck and watch a thunder storm cross from left to right across the lake, that was pretty spectacular.

We had 6 cars, parking was doable, but would have been easier if a couple people had driven together. Will be checking to see if the house is available again next year if they happen to hold the event in Traverse again.

Great Location but just a so-so house

  • 2 of 5

We were up here last month for our golf outing. Long Lake is a spectacular setting, but the house itself was a disappointment. Overall it is a bit run down- the deck is old and rotting in parts, with the staircase down to the beach in deplorable condition- to the point of being so dangerous that we stopped using it. The biggest problem we had was an incredibly powerful odor of rotten fish coming from the refrigerator- the smell was strong enough to almost knock you down. I called the owner about this, and he was properly attentive, but it took a day for him to get a person out there to clean the fridge. When they did, they never opened the freezer, and therein lay the problem. We ended up having to chip a layer of incredibly foul smelling ice out of the freezer- it seemed as if someone had thrown unwrapped fish in there. I called again to explain to the owner the situation, and was disappointed in his condescending attitude. Apparently he thought we might be confusing the smell of well water with a smell that was literally a physical and foul presence within the kitchen.

Owner's Response: This was a VERY Large bachelor party. The previous tenant DID leave some sort of fish in the bottom the fridge. Had a company that sterilize hospital rooms come out and clean the entire fridge for them. We were not in town the weekend they rented the home. Getting a company out on a Saturday with no notice to sterilize a fridge in a small town is not easy. I don't think it was unreasonable to ask questions to isolate the source of the foul smell. We're sorry the tenant immediately before them allowed fish juice to seep into the fridge, but it was corrected as quickly as possible.

Perfect for Large Family!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed every bit of this property! We loved the beach and dock! Also, rented a pontoon with a tube for a few days. The lake is perfect for tubing and swimming, not so much fishing; pretty sure fish don't exist in Long Lake :) Other family members rented houses around the lake, we kayaked and paddle boarded between houses. Kitchen was fully stocked. Short drive to grocery and Traverse City. Favorite spots close by were MOOmer's ice cream and Maddy's pub. The Slabtown Burger for lunch and the Union Street Tap in Traverse City are the best! We would definitely book here again!

Kids Loved it

  • 5 of 5

8 Kids, 4 adults.......needless to say the kids had the control. Nice set up. All the kids slept up stairs, the older pair of adults took the main floor bedroom, and we took the big master to keep an eye on the kids. Water was fairly warm, great beachfront. Kids set up a little net and were playing volley ball right in front front. Best part was probably sitting out on the covered deck after the kids went down. Husband was able to work on his laptop, but you could still hear the water just lapping right below you.

Be aware, we rented a pontoon for 3 days. The house only looks at maybe a 1/3 of the lake! The launch is way down at the other end. We spent about an hour looking for the house, then googled it and realized there were a bunch of islands between us and the house. We stopped at one of the islands, kids had a blast, there's a couple look outs that are pretty high up.

Great Golf Weekend, Fishing, etc

  • 5 of 5

6 Buddies and I take a standing Trip to Traverse for Golf etc. House was a nice surprise. There's a great course maybe 3 miles away (The Crown). Ended up playing it twice it was so nice. Not a championship course, but WAY better then anything we get to play in Detroit. The food there was outstanding too. Google Mulligans, even if you don't play golf.

Dock is old, but serves its purpose. We saw guys fishing by boat in the evening not to far out. So we bought some cheap poles at Walmart, and fished right off the dock Sunday night. Caught two tiny Bass!

I've never been to a house THIS close to the water. We joked about diving off the deck into the lake.....probably not a great idea. All the beds look brand new. I doubt anyone slept in them before. Kitchen had a bunch of plates etc. Was no BBQ, but owner had warned us before hand a few things still weren't out as we booked very last minute.

All in all, nice place.
