Ask a questionAbout George and Carole Ford
Greetings! We are the Ford Family. We discovered and purchased this property in 1996. As our young family grew, we camped, hiked, and fell in love with this rural, mountainous terrain, with abundant wildlife, and amazing wildflowers. We were weekenders with a dream to become full time residents and to share this lost province with others. In 2007 our family crafted 3 private cottages in carefully selected sites within this property. George was a builder north of Charlotte before relocating to the Lansing area. Carole loves to garden and manages the cottages and new venue on the property. We are slowing bringing it back into an Appalachian farm as it was over 100 years ago. We raise sheep, grow sunflowers and work on an endless supply of projects while maintaining the integrity of our natural surroundings. Most of the materials used in the construction of the cottages were harvested from the property. We welcome new guests and enjoy friends returning each year.
Why George and Carole Ford chose Ashe County
This area of the Blueridge is truly a well kept secret. A lost province. This is so much more than just renting a cabin. We are a true rural retreat.
What makes this Cottage unique
This 215 acre property is at an altitude at almost 4000 ft. Cool breezes in the summer, a light show of fireflies, and an amazing starry night skies are part of your experience. Autumn brings warm colors and a chill to the air as you sink in a bubbly hot tub after a scenic hike to the ridge. Winter wraps us in white with a quiet splendor. Spring welcomes us with trickling waters, new wooly lambs, and the symphony of frogs as the mountain come to life. Then it starts again and again.
