Our home is in the older part of Arden Hills wedged between the suburbs of Roseville and New Brighton and located for easy access to both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. A park and ride ramp for metro cities busses is located less than a mile away. From either downtown light rail will get you to the other downtown, out to the Mall of America, or the airport. Driving and parking in the Twin Cities is easy and this property provides off street parking for up to 6 cars.
Within a mile or two of the property you will find sushi, steak houses, and other bars and restaurants from fast food to fine dining and everything in between. In addition there are fitness centers, mall shopping, post office, spas, grocery (Trader Joes included), Walmart and Target.
Both Minneapolis and St. Paul offer all kinds of activities for tastes that range from professional to semi-pro sporting events, to plays and musicals, to art museums and art galleries. Festivals and one of the best/biggest State Fair's in the country.
The MN State Fair is approximately 5 miles away, and there is a free bus transport to the Fair Grounds during the State Fair within walking distance of this property. Otherwise it is a short car ride for other events that happen throughout the year at the Fair Grounds (car shows, animal shows, antiques, etc.)
The Mall of America is a 15-20 minute car ride south of this property. IKEA is located next to the Mall of America. This property is in a great location for families visiting kids in college (U of M, St. Thomas, St. Catherine, Northwestern, Bethel, Hamline, Concordia, William Mitchell, Augsburg, Luther Seminary, and Macalester to name a few).
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: I lived in this property full time from 1996 until 2006 when I met my husband. At first he lured me part time out to the country, and now that we are married and both have jobs in the country we live there full time. At first I was going to sell my house, but it has been a home improvement inspiration and fun project for me since before HGTV came along. I love renovating and this property has great bones, so I continue to tweak it and make it better. I love staying in this home and entertaining in it when I am in the Twin Cities. Over the years many of my friends have lived with me in this home for short transitional stays. Now I'm in a position where I can share it with more people, and I hope that in doing so I can keep it for my husband and I to enjoy for many years to come. My house can accommodate all kinds of groups: Up to 4 couples coming to the Cities for a game, or other event. A family with teens who like their own space. Parents visiting children in school can bring their kids home for the weekend. Business people who travel can feel at home and cook if they want, or heat-up leftovers from that big dinner the night before. I look forward to hearing from all who stay, and any suggestions for future renovations.
Why the Owner Chose Arden Hills, MN, USA:
Location, location, location and functionality for multiple purposes is why I bought and love this property. I can get just about anywhere in the Twin Cities metro area in 15-20 minutes, and have everything I need for everyday living within a mile or two of home. With three full bathrooms, you can always find one when you need it. The bedrooms are large enough to accommodate both beds, furniture and people. The kitchen is awesome to cook in with stainless steel counter tops through out. The porch offers mosquito free enjoyment of the outdoors in the spring, summer and fall. The patio provides a quiet outdoor space for grilling and being outside. The fenced in backyard is great for giving dogs a space of their own.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
My home is in a neighborhood that was built in the 1940's-50's. It is a family friendly neighborhood and there are still homes on the block with the original owners living in them. It has been interesting to watch as some of these original owners have moved on and new young couples have moved in and started their families. The area used to be where the residents of St. Paul and Minneapolis got away in their horse drawn carriages for cooler weekends near Lake Johanna in the summer. There are very large established trees (bigger than you can get your arms around), and this setting was much more attractive to me than a house built on an old corn field with no trees, except those planted by the builder. I felt at home as soon as I walked in, and I hope you will too!
