I'm grateful to have the opportunity to list my property for others to experience, as I am a well seasoned traveler myself who appreciates a more authentic travel experience - one that allows me to get to know a place through the eyes of the local residents.
Darlene purchased this apartment in 2012
Originally born and raised in Louisiana, I enjoy the stimulation New York City offers, but need a peaceful home to retreat to at the end of a hectic, often frenetic day. I honestly haven't found a more peaceful, serene escape in all of this vast city.
Having lived in New Orleans for so many years, to me Brooklyn is the closest thing to the Big Easy that you can get in the Big Apple....
We had a great albeit short stay. Darlene tried her best to resolve an AC issue on a hot day, and issued a refund when it couldn't. Again the location, amenities and furnishings were great, as were interactions with Darlene.
Darlene was very nice and was able to accommodate non-standard check-in/checkout times. She was very responsive whenever I sent her a question.
Apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Full kitchen, clean bathroom, clean rooms, AC. We used a couch to sleep one person and that was not super comfy. Manage your expectations if you are expecting someone to sleep there. :) Other two beds were pretty good.
We staid one night at 4 star hotel in Manhattan and then 3 nights here - this place beats hotel for sure! Subway is only ~5-7 walk and you can take both train 2 and 3 from Manhattan. It takes ~30-40 min to be in the center of the city. Neighborhood is Ok. I felt pretty safe walking at night to/from subway. Especially if you are not alone.
Great place to stay! Highly recommend!
We had the best stay in this lovely apartment! Plenty of room for our family of 5. It's a convenient walk to the subway stop that goes into Manhattan and the pictures are exactly as this apartment looks in person! Great host that makes sure you are comfortable and have all the details for the surrounding area.
Responded quickly and kept us well informed with locations of nearby shopping and food.
Quiet, nicely appointed apartment. Well stocked for plates, glasses and such. Would definately stay here again.
We loved this brownstone and didn't want to leave! It looks exactly like the pictures - it's clean, modern and well maintained and all the little extra touches were so nice. The beds were VERY comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed. The neighborhood felt very safe, even coming home at 1 AM after hanging out at Times Square. We didn't bother renting a car, the subway was so close there was no need. We had 5 people in our group, 2 adults and 3 teenagers and space was not an issue at all. I HIGHLY recommend this unit and have already recommended it to several friends. Darlene gave us so much information up front that we didn't even need to bother her, but I know she was just a phone call away.
This apartment and the owner, Darlene, were absolutely wonderful. Darlene answered all my questions and was very kind! The apartment was very nice, had terrific bedding, and was very comfortable overall. I only had two concerns: it became costly to travel to the city (however, if you learn the subway system, that is the cheapest option) and the neighborhood that you drive through before coming to the neighborhood of the apartment. I brought my children and we traveled from the airport to the apartment through a rougher appearing neighborhood. The apartment itself was not part of this neighborhood but just be prepared of this prior to your stay. Once you get to the apartment, you are very safe. Again, I loved Darlene and the apartment!! Overall, the experience was great!
