About Julia Randell-Khan
We discovered Umbria nearly 15 years ago through the Umbria Jazz Festival held in July every year in Perugia. For many years we had camping holidays near Lake Trasimeno and explored the local area which resulted in the purchase of the villa about 13 years ago. The villa is our home away from home, our Italian retreat, which we are delighted to share with you. It is not a hotel so expect a comfortable home ambience.
Julia Randell-Khan purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Julia Randell-Khan chose Piegaro
We like the fact that the villa has privacy and tranquillity yet we have neighbours (mostly Italian) not too far away for sharing evening aperitivi, chats by the pool, tennis or table football games.

Gorgeous view. Relaxing location. We loved the pool and tennis court. Beautiful refreshing breeze up on top of the hill. Morning coffee on the terrace is a dream! Would definitely return. Roberta (local contact) is very friendly and helpful.
Absolutely breath taking Villa!
Our stay was absolutely fantastic! The Villa has the most breathtaking view of the rolling hills in Italy. We definitely think that this Villa is in the best spot of the complex! Roberta who met us to give us the keys is the sweetest lady ever. She is so knowledgeable of the area and was extremely helpful. The Villa itself is beautiful, so bright, airy and room to relax as well as cook. Overall we had a fantastic time!
a beautiful tranquil spot
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The private terrace was lovelier than the photos can show, with a riveting view of the hills, Lago Trasimeno, and Panicale across the valley. The shade was welcome on hot days, as was the very, very nice pool. There are opportunities to meet other guests at pool area if interested. The beds were extremely comfortable (memory foam?). Ceilings on the second floor might will be a challenge for tall people: our son loved it. The two main bedrooms and the downstairs bedroom are very generous in size.
Be aware that you are not within walking distance of a town, and thus a car is essential to stay here. We shopped in Piegaro, Tavernelle, and other surrounding towns for basics. Cooking was easy in the well-equipped kitchen. Easy striking distance of historic towns of Panicale, Citta della Pieve, Castiglione del Lago, etc. for day visits.
The caretakers Roberta (excellent English) and Elio were charming, courteous, and extremely helpful. Highly recommended for a peaceful and memorable getaway!
Thank you! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome anytime for a return visit.
Get away in the Umbrian hills
The house is beautiful and full of character. The view from the terrace is spectacular, on a clear day you can see Lago Trasemeno. The place is clean, tidy and decorated nicely, and the owners are very accommodating. The area with local towns of montegabione and Citta della pieve is very typical of the region with authentic rural charm and friendly people, and of course the cuisine. Perugia is not too far away either with it's warren of medieval streets and old buildings. A great base for further travel in the region, we will surely return for another stay.
Beautiful,stunning panoramic views peaceful!
I spent a very relaxing 5 days at the villa at La Montagnola. The villa is accurately described, comfortable and has a warm, welcoming ambience.
The stunning panoramic views of Umbria countryside from the terrace are breath-taking. You can see for miles even to the Apennines on the horizon. A peaceful place to unwind and reflect.
The villa's location was ideal for my first visit to Umbria - you are in the heart of rural Italy and get a real taste of local life and culture. A highlight of my stay was a walk amid wild flowers across the countryside taking in medieval villages, a restored 14 century church and with views of Lake Trasimeno and surrounding hills.
I discovered interesting places to eat the local cuisine. Throughout my visit I met warm, friendly and helpful people.
I'm definitely looking forward to a return visit.
Delighted to hear that you enjoyed your first visit to Umbria! We look forward to hosting you on a return visit.
A little bit of paradise...
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday in a very special place. Its so peaceful at the villa, which has amazing panoramic views. The beautiful terrace is well appointed off the lounge and kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with easy access to the terrace. The large pool and tennis courts are just a few minutes stroll and everyone was so friendly.
The villa inside is clean and tidy and the vibrant colours work well with the natural light. Its very comfortable.
There are many local hilltop villages to visit, we went to two local festivals during our stay which were great fun. There is a lake nearby which we also visited and enjoyed. We did spend a lot of time at the villa as we were reluctant to leave such a relaxing place.
We would highly recommend and plan to return ourselves.
Thank you! We are glad you had a relaxing time and look forward to welcoming you again soon.
