Beautiful custom Amish log home within walking distance of trout stream.

Three bedroom, two bath log home on 8+ acres of land with walking trails and Lake Creek frontage. Home has washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, charcoal grill, and all necessary linens, dishes, and silverware. Heat is provided by a forced air oil furnace and propane fireplace insert. Cabin is within easy driving distance of Troy (2 miles) which has a large grocery store, hardware stores, restaurants, gas stations, casinos, bowling alley, museum, and theater. A frisbee golf course and 4+ mile pet friendly walking trail is also located in Troy. Montana Lake Creek Vacation Rental is located within an easy day driving trip to Glacier National Park, Kalispell, and Spokane. Two ski resorts and 2 international airports are within 3 hours driving time. Numerous hiking trails, fishing streams, rivers, and lakes are available in the area.

We are retirees from the state of Virginia. George worked 20+ years as an Entomologist with the Virginia Dept. of Agriculture. I worked 30+ years as a Registered Nurse. Both of us retired early so we could move to Montana and enjoy its beauty and activities as much as possible. We also wanted to live in a log home. We contracted with a local Amish community to build the beautiful, custom home we now use as a vacation rental. We enjoyed living in that log home so much we are presently building and living in another one.

Both of us have always enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, and all other activities associated with the outdoors. We visited Montana numerous times on vacation, deciding early on this was where we wanted to live when we retired. This area is an outdoor enthusiast dream and we have never looked back or regretted our decision to move here. It is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful, recreational, and people friendly spots in the country. If you are lucky enough to be able to visit us here, we think you will agree.

Beautiful 9 acres of riverfront with a well maintained 3 bedroom house.

Very beautiful home.... I would not consider renting it again as long as John Anderson is the owner.

The owner of this property was there when I arrived. I had my service Dog with me (this property was listed as Dog friendly). The owner seemed agitated with the idea of me having my service Dog there. He also insisted that I had to pay him the "pet deposit". This was a clear violation of my ADA rights. I went ahead and gave him the "pet deposit" as he insisted. I informed him that he cannot charge a pet fee for a service dog, and said he would look into it. My 2nd night at this rental the owner showed up unannounced. I am still not clear as to why. He startled me as well as my service dog. He showed up again 3 days unannounced. I thought this to be inappropriate. Upon my checking out, I showed him the web site to the ADA Laws regarding service dog. He was rude and walked away.

Owner's Response: As owners of Montana Lake Creek Vacation Rental, Carolyn and I work very hard to ensure our guests stay is very enjoyable, peaceful, and well worth the cost of renting the cabin. By the numerous positive comments in our guest book and on our web site, we believe we are meeting that goal and will always strive to do so. We can only ask that those who read our reviews keep an open mind before they judge. In reference to Ms. Daniel's "Service Dog", this was a large, 2 yr. old German Shepherd which appeared untrained and totally disobedient to any commands from Ms. Daniel. It was hyper active and went thru the screen door within 5 min. of their arrival (which Ms. Daniel quickly gave me $20 for). The door required complete replacement of the screen and 2 hrs. labor to repair. No documentation was shown that it was a certified "service dog" and I would have been very perplexed as to what service it provided. Ms. Daniel arrived with her "ski jet" boat in tow, informing me later that she had had it on Bull Lake and the treacherous Kootenai River. After their departure, dog food pellets were scattered throughout the first floor and numerous, large droppings of dog poop were scattered over the front yard which Ms. Daniel informed me she would be cleaning up. In reference to my visits, the first one was around 10:30 am (not at night as Ms. Daniel indicated). It was to do a walk thru inspection after Ms. Daniels first night stay to ensure the dog had done no additional damage. We were very concerned because of its age, behavior, and past damage done so quickly. The dog did jump at me in attack mode when Ms. Daniel opened the door to let me in. My visit lasted approx. 5 min. I inspected the first floor only and left when no apparent damage was obvious. In reference to my second visit approx. 3 days later. This was to mow the lawn which we sometimes have to do while guests are present. I arrived around 11:00 am and met Ms. Daniel on the front porch. When I told her why I was there, she informed me she would prefer if I mowed later. I courteously agreed to do so and left. When my wife and I arrived at 11:00 am on check out day, Ms. Daniel had not yet checked out and required another hr. to do so. She was not charged a late checkout charge, the full cost of the screen door damage, damaged night light, and a ripped, "high- end" expensive lounge chair which was unrepairable and had to be trashed. Clean, spacious cabin on a beautiful lot

We loved the immaculate cabin and surrounding scenery. A buck with four does spent half an hour in the back yard feeding our second morning here. The walk down to the creek is an easy one with the sound of rushing water gradually increasing 'til you arrive at the waterfront.

Everything you need to make a good meal is in the kitchen and ready for use. The water from the tap tasted great. We read the visitor guestbook and weren't surprised to see so many other great reviews of the place; it's one of the best places to stay in Troy!

Be sure to check out The Silver Spur for breakfast, and the Heritage museum in Libby!

Beautiful cabin

If was ever to buy a cabin, I would want one similar to this place. It was very nicely done and the property is beautiful. We loved walking down the the creek and sitting on their porches. We saw wild turkeys and deer. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed our time there. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing private retreat

As a couple with an active toddler, we absolutely loved our stay here. First of all, the home is beautiful and decorated with love. All the details are addressed meticulously. The deck faces a peaceful meadow. The grass is tall, you can't actually walk right through it but there is a mowed path which takes you for a great nature walk. For other folks with little ones, the owners provide a pack-n-play and a high chair - we really appreciated both (used the PNP to block the stairs). We used the downstairs bedroom which was nice, warm, and comfortable despite being in the basement. The kitchen was adequately stocked and we made a few large meals there (although the oven door seems like it doesn't close all the way, the temp was fine once up). Just a couple days prior, we stayed on Bull Lake which had lots of mosquitoes. There were none here at all which was a huge relief for us, not used to dealing with bugs. FYI - there is a charge of $25 per additional person (including lap infants) and $12 per pet if accepted. We found the price well worth it and had a great vacation here.

Tranquil Retreat

This beautifully constructed, and impeccably kept home is a slice of heaven. We were looking for a relaxing get away, and were not disappointed! Beautiful scenery, wildlife, peace and quiet. So much to see and explore close by. Can't wait to book a return visit with our grandkids. Thanks George & Carolyn for everything!

The cabin is located at 842 Lake Creek Road in beautiful Northwest Montana just outside of the town of Troy. It is bordered by Lake Creek. Several species of trout inhabit this large stream which flows year round. Bear, deer, elk, moose, and wild turkey frequent our back meadow. Kootenai Falls, the famous Swinging Bridge, and hiking trails are located within 6 miles. The Ross Creek Cedars, a popular tourist attraction with its enormous 500+ year old trees are nearby. Lake Koocanusa Dam, Kootenai River, Clark Fork River, Bull Lake, Kilbrenan Lake, Alford Lake, Savage Lake, and many more boating and fishing lakes, in addition to numerous stream, are within a short driving distance. The State Record rainbow trout was caught less than 40 miles away! There is a frisbee golf course, the site of an annual frisbee tournament, located in Troy.

Glacier National Park is approximately 2 1/2 hours hours away, an easy day trip for this beautiful must see attraction.

The cabin is located near Troy and Libby Montana where the movies 'The River Wild' and 'Always' were filmed.

Libby is a daily stop for Amtrak Rail services.
