5 days in Rome
Although the apartment was roomy and conveniently located steps from the Trevi Fountain, the noise on the street was quite disturbing ..all day and night. The apartment claims to sleep 6.... I would say4 was a stretch. One bedroom and two "sofas" ...Not well furnished from an American viewpoint. Sheet pillows and blankets for the sofas were not to be found and those that were available were shabby. Bathroom very small and sink comes away from the wall. AIr conditioning not working..no extra batteries, light bulbs or towels. We each had one bath towel and one hand towel for five days. I would not say the apartment was well furnished at all...
thanks for the information, I will do my best to provide more comfort to my guests.
The blankets were in the closet and if you asked for other towels I would've been happy to settle for you.
Confusing and hectic 2 day stay.... Home Away was great, they were worth every penny!
Two hours before arriving we called Pamela to make sure we could get in by 1:00 p.m. Pamela said, we could not get in due to repairs that would take days. Home Away said our rental was assigned to a client for 7 days. We explained we had paid for 2 days months earlier. Pamela suggested a place too far: 2.5 miles away from the center of Rome Then she sent us to a run down building where people smoked: I have asthma. After waiting 40 minutes outside the building Elena showed up and took us to the place we had rented which was ready to be used.. I was so glad Home Away helped us get there. Elena was nice but by then it was almost 3:30 p.m. The place is nice but noisy. We ate out, the place had no sugar, salt, oi or hand soap or cleaning stuff in the kitchen. Nice Location.
Spacious unit near Trevi Fountain
This review is being written by a family of 4 (children ages 10 & 11) staying May 2017. Our review is in sections that were important to us when choosing a rental.
Inside: 1 bedroom apartment with 2 large comfortable fold out couches in the spacious living area. Each child had their own bed. The kitchen was well equipped and had a few staples (salt, pepper, oil, tea, etc). The windows were bright. There is a lift and the building was well maintained and the other occupants were quiet. Bathroom worked well, although the shower is a bit tight. Plenty of towels were included along with soap and shampoo. The unit was very clean.
Outside: This unit is 30 steps from the Trevi Fountain. This is great for sight seeing, shopping, dining, etc. but it is loud. If you are looking for a lively location with great dining/shopping choices in walking distance then this unit is a great choice. If you are looking for a quiet stay, you may want to book something else.
Location: As mentioned, 30 steps from the Trevi Fountain. We were able to get early morning pictures with no tourists in the photos! Great restaurants, bakery, groceries, gelato etc. 15 -20 min walk to the train station, Spanish Steps, and Borghese Gardens.
Owner Communication: The owner was very prompt with booking and email inquiries. She pre-arranged taxi service for us from the airport. We were able to store our bags until the unit was ready from the previous guests.
Overall, this was a decent choice with lots of pro's and we enjoyed our stay. However, it was very loud at all times and if you have sensitive sleepers, you may want something a bit further out.
Great location and apartment
Once it was booked there wasn't enough communication though I was able to connect with Pamela eventually and everything worked out fine.
This was my 3rd trip to Rome, this apartment is in an ideal location. It is One bedroom but has a bed set up in the living room that works as a second place to sleep and is fine. It is 100 feet from the Trevi fountain.. about ten minutes easy walk to the Spanish Steps and about a ten minute easy walk to the Pantheon. There is a taxi stand about a three minute walk away. Via Del Lavatore is a pedestrian street so no cars except for Taxis and deliveries. Right across from the apartment is a quaint restaurant with good food. So far this is the best location and the price was reasonable. I definitely recommend it.
In the middle of it all, yet a quiet bedroom
This apartment was so close to everything in the center, yet with the bedroom on the back of the apartment, it was really quiet at night. I loved that I could look out the front windows and see life passing by on the street below, or go to the back, open the doors to the little balcony for a change.
The apartment is large and comfortable. Lots of services nearby, walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Campo del Fiore, the Colosseum- pretty much any of the sites. Maybe a 30-minute walk to Trastevere? I didn't feel the need for either mass transit or cabs, except to get from the train station to the apartment and then out to the airport.
I stayed in four different apartments during this trip and this was the only one with a dishwasher! I didn't really cook but the kitchen seemed to have everything you'd need. Having the washer is also nice. As with most apartments, there is no dryer but clothespins and a rack are available.
Working with Pamela was really easy and seamless. I even had notice that my deposit refund was in process less than a week from my checkout.
Two things prevented me from rating it 5 stars. The building is very old, as you'd expect. When I first entered I was a little overwhelmed by the mold/mildew smell in the foyer and in the elevator. However, there was no hint of this in the apartment itself! I only mention it because if you have allergies this could be an issue. The other thing, which is really more of a notice than a big issue, there was only a partial roll of toilet paper when I arrived, so I bought a pack and when I was leaving I couldn't find either dishwasher detergent or dish soap. I'm not sure if this was an oversite or standard but you may need to pick up a few supplies. There's a Coop grocery store a couple blocks away that will have everything you need.
Hopefully, something you won't experience..... I was in this apartment during the recent earthquakes. There was definite movement but everything stayed in place.
I'd definitely stay here again.
