Why Mimi Haberfeld chose De Xochimilco

I purchased this adobe farm house, remodeled it & have enjoyed it, for its

proximity to Centro.Without the noise of the city, the house is located

in a working class Mexican neighborhood, yet an easy 15-20 minute walk straight to the Zocalo! The beautiful garden space has grown into a jungle,

all in pots!

What makes this apartment unique

The spectacular views from the upper deck is perfect for enjoying the 180 degree mountain and valley views!

Comfortable, beautiful apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 2 weeks with our 2 teenagers. The apartment has plenty of space and everything you might need to really live in a place for a period of time. It is located in a neighborhood (Xochimilco) with a few choices for neighborhood markets and a decent corner store (Pitico.) We ate very well, buying fresh food from the markets and cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. There are also some local cafes and restaurants right in the neighborhood. The place is an easy 20 minute walk to the center and we went to the center at least once per day. What makes the apartment special is the way that it is decorated with artesanias and traditional Mexican tilework. The patio is also full of beautifully potted plants - an oasis. Judith and Alejandro are incredibly helpful and kind. We appreciated their support throughout the trip with rides, cleaning and other needs. The only thing I would share on the slightly negative side is that the 2nd bathroom is only available through the outside patio (the space is also a pass-through for people who are in the 2nd story apartment,) and the main bath is accessed through the master bedroom. When the outside door is locked at night the only easily accessible bath is that in the master bedroom. This setup has the potential to create privacy issues. It was manageable for our family, but might not work for everyone. Overall, we thought that this place was an amazing find for its beauty, location, comfort and value. Our kids loved their experience and miss it already. We would absolutely stay here again if we return to Oaxaca.

Beautiful comfortable home filled with beautiful art well appointed kitchen and beautiful patio.

  • 5 of 5

It was very comfortable staying here with all the conveniences of home including tv and WiFi and laundry

The only negative things were the mosquitoes (outside bathroom has no screens) and lack of large pans for baking.... pretty picky

Be sure to bring mosquito repellent if you plan to eat outdoors or spent time in the outdoor bathroom.

Really an exceptional location with helpful reliable owner and property care takers. Highly recommend delightful property.

Owner's Response: Sorry you were eaten by mosquitos! This is the season; however we can certainly put some coil repellant in the outside bathroom and get some large baking pans for the apartment. Thank you for making us aware! So glad you enjoyed the property.

Perfect for a small group of mature women!

  • 5 of 5

This casita is beautiful. It is very clean, has everything you need to cook, wash clothes, and read. The patio is delightful and art is everywhere. The beds are comfy. We usually walked into the Centro and took a taxi back. Added bonus: Alejandro got us at 4am to take us to the airport!

Overall, this is a great place and I would totally recommend it.

Lovely apartment, quiet neighborhood near the center of town

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is well appointed, clean, and full of amazing art objects. The patio was a great spot to relax during the evenings and the kitchen was nicely set up for cooking. The wi-fi worked well, the bed was comfortable, and the tiled master bathroom was nothing short of elegant. The apartment was very comfortable and rather spacious for just my husband and me, but I think the second double bedroom would be a little crowded for a another couple and the second bathroom is out on the patio. The third bedroom has two twin beds. Alejandro and Judith were very welcoming and helpful, and even though we didn't speak Spanish well, we were able to communicate. We would certainly stay here again.

Oaxaca delight, warm and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful casa, fully equipped kitchen, ethnic art galore (like a museum in art appreciation)...the access to the roof was stunning and provided tranquility for morning meditation and a little, the staff could not have been more attentive, especially when we needed extra blankets for the coldest night of the winter. We made a delicious vegetable soup in the gorgeously tiled kitchen ...Mil gracias to Mimi, Alejandro y Judith

Perfect for our family trip!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Vino Tinto was a great experience for our stay in Oaxaca. The patio, with its abundant plants, was a gracious spot for conversation and meals. The kitchen was well equipped., even had a few food items stocked for us The filtered water was a real bonus. The bedrooms are large, with comfortable beds. Having washer and dryer in the unit was great. Caretakers Alejandro and Judith were helpful and kind. Although they don't speak English, my bit of Spanish and their I Pad translator let us communicate effectively. We would have appreciated some written directions in the unit itself, the instructions that Mimi, the owner, sent in emails. That would have been easier than looking things up electronically. And it would have been good to know what is recyclable. Another detail, not a problem, but just to know, is that the patio is also the entrance area for the upstairs unit, so those neighbors walk through. Our family enjoyed our Christmas holiday mucho.
