About Susan Gray

Richard and Allan moved to Colorado Springs from Austin, Texas in 2003 to enjoy retirement and everything Colorado has to offer. We built our home and gardens in the Victorian Style to fit the neighborhood. Allan retired from the telecommunications industry and Richard retired from the interior design industry. We share the interests of gardening, and love to travel. We have been to many countries around the world. Our favorite way to travel is staying in Self Catering Houses. We look forward to giving you the same wonderful experience in our cottages, that we have enjoyed during our travels.

Why Susan Gray chose Colorado Springs

This property is located across the alley from our residence. It was purchased with the idea of creating a small urban farm and solar Aquaponic greenhouse. The location and size of the lot are perfect for this endeavor. With our wonderful experiences from our rental Cottage (Tranquil Waters) we decided to turn the existing house on the property into a rental and built a garage with an apartment above it for a second rental. creating a unique compound in a residential setting.

What makes this house unique

while staying in a beautifully furnished apartment overlooking the grounds. In the mornings sit on the balcony sipping your coffee with the view of our majestic Pikes Peak mountain. In the evening over conversation about the days activities, share a glass of wine and enjoy Colorado's beautiful sunsets. This apartment's location is central and convenient to all parts of the city and attractions.

Love this property!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for 6 days at this property and loved every minute of it. The fresh eggs where spectacular and the coffee and bottle of wine were an added bonus. The property is beautifully maintained and extremely comfortable and functional - it has everything you would need and more. The location is very central to all the activities Colorado Springs has to offer. Richard knows the area well and can give you advice on activities and restaurants. Thanks for sharing your property with us!

Beautiful apartment with a view of an urban farm and Pike's Peak

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the "Roost." The apartment is beautiful, sprinkled with vintage pieces and bits of history. The really fun part of the VRBO is the farm. We enjoyed the fresh eggs from the chickens, petting the baby pygmy goats, the bee hives, and the aquaponic gardens in the greenhouse. There are beautiful flowers and vegetables growing everywhere. We had our own garage and entrance from it into our rental. From the balcony, there was always a view of Pike's Peak. The location in Old Colorado City is quiet and residential but very close to Colorado Street where there were many shops and restaurants. It was also close to Manitou Springs and the mountains beyond for daytrips and hiking. Our hosts were great. This is a wonderful location. We would gladly stay there again.

Urban oasis

We enjoyed our stay in this well appointed, nicely decorated and clean home. The chickens, baby goats and garden added to the homey feeling. Last but not least we enjoyed getting to know Richard and Allan. Thanks for your hospitality! Farmer John and Lori

Our stay in your home was simply perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Richard, your property is amazing and the location was perfect. Very close to all of the sites in Colorado Springs area. The apartment was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed having eggs from your 'girls' every morning and loved the stories about your gardens and bees. We can't wait to return and we have told all of our friends about your rental home.

Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home!
