The sound of the creek at night will lull you to sleep, after you've spent the evening star gazing out on the patio or down at the fire pit. The sunrise will reveal Mt. Princeton as the sun's rays strike the summit; you'll watch this from the dining table while you enjoy your morning coffee.
The remodeling process is complete! 4 bedrooms (2 up and 2 down*). Spacious kitchen that you will enjoy spending time in, if you can drag yourself in from the incredible spaces outside! *Disclaimer: the 2nd downstairs bedroom is 'non-confming' sleeping space but does not have an egress window. However it has two doors, one on each side, that lead to exits.
So much to do within minutes, no matter what your passion for the outdoors. When you return home you can soak in the hot tub, make a fire in the fire pit and roast marshmallows, or just pull up a chair on the deck overlooking the pond and enjoy the view of Mount Princeton through the trees and the sound of Cottonwood Creek running through the property. Bar-B-Que (propane) grill for your use, and a horseshoe pit out in the back next to the fire pit.
Ride your bike to the top of Cottonwood Pass from the house, and stop at Cottonwood Hot Springs on the way home, just two minutes away, or drive fifteen minutes up to Cottonwood Lake and spend the day enticing those trout to jump into your basket. You can also paddleboard or canoe across the lake if fishing doesn't interest you!
A quick trip to the top of of Cottonwood Pass by car reveals Colorado's finest scenery, or take the drive over to the old historic mining town of St. Elmo. Aspen is only an hour and a half if you're brave enough to take the drive over the famed Independence Pass.
Whether your passion is whitewater rafting, kayacking, fly fishing, or mountain/road biking, you can find it all within minutes of our front door. Four-wheelers take delight in the area's designated playgrounds, and rock climbers would find the multi-pitch Davis Face a great way to spend a day. Chaffee County also has more 14ers than any other county in Colorado, if you've had an inkling to stand on a summit of one of the highest peaks in the U.S. And after all of this you'll find quality restaurants and breweries just a few minutes away.
Come and enjoy one of the area's most secluded properties within ten minutes of town, relax, enjoy, and book your next year's stay while you're here, or as most of our guests tell us, they never want to leave!
Doggie disclaimer: We're dog friendly but please be aware that dogs are not to be left unattended in the home while guests are out. We understand that there are activities that are not suited to our pups, but even 'well behaved dogs' can become disoriented and perhaps engage in abnormal behavior while you're out. We also ask that your dogs that are used to sleeping with you not be allowed on the bedding in the home, as a courtesy to the next guest and the housekeeper. We also ask that you pick up after your pets. If our housekeeper has to do it, she will charge a hefty fee which will be deducted from your deposit. Also our neighbors have chickens, and if dogs roam up there to harass them or make a meal of one of them (it has happened), deposit will be forfeited entirely. Pup/mud towels are furnished as the pups love the pond!
Also should be noted that my neighbors are beekeepers (there is a hive up above the property, but as busy as they are, I rarely see them down here at the house). The hive is protected by an electric fence to keep the bears away, and dogs/children should not be allowed to roam up the hill. There are No Trespassing signs, so please stay down in the creek bottom, no hiking up behind the house.
Moved to Buena Vista to take advantage of all of the outdoor activities. An avid fly fisher, rock climber, mountain biker, hiker.
The sound of the whispering creek. The views. The serenity and quiet and the stars at night.
Ponds, creekfront, fire pit, horseshoes. Also should be noted that my neighbors are beekeepers (there is a hive up above the property, but as busy as they are, I rarely see them down here at the house). The hive is protected by an electric fence to keep the bears away. There are No Trespassing signs, so please stay down in the creek bottom, no hiking up above the house.
A cute mountain cabin retreat on a beautiful, wooded property with a stream running through it. The listing accurately represented the property, and we had a wonderful, relaxing time. The hot tub was a nice feature; we used it each night. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware if you like to cook/bake. We would have loved to have had a few more comfy chairs to sit in the living room. As a family of 5 it was a bit tight on movie night. Also just a "be aware", we arrived after the sun went down and the driveway was just a bit tricky to find.
My wife and I have stayed at many vrbo properties dotting the state of Colorado and this one is one of the best. It sits among the trees and ponds next to a river. Although secluded it is close to the town of Buena Vista, the hot springs and cottonwood lake that is teaming with fish!! The house was fantastic, unique and very clean. Sherry was wonderful to work with. She is so hospitable and makes sure you have everything you need for a great stay. Thank you Sherry! The next time we are down that way we would love to rent out your property again.
My wife and I are from the Midwest and we look forward to spending time in Colorado. We found this home in Buena Vista (BV) and booked it for one month. When we arrived we found the home to be as advertised. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you'll need to feel right at home. There are four bedrooms and three full bathrooms. At one point we had nine people staying overnight and everyone was very comfortable. The location is beautiful with views of Mt. Yale in the background. The home is located at the end of a private drive with three nearby homes. We rarely saw or heard any neighbors while we were there. There is a beautiful private pond with several ducks steps from the house with two chairs provide. We could hear a nearby creek with the windows open.
If you are looking for a quiet clean home in the middle of paradise this home should be considered.
The house is in a nice location. Not actually in the mountains but very close, also a short drive into Buena Vista. It's at the end of a driveway with (I think) 3 other houses but with all the trees you don't really notice they are there from the house. You can open the windows at night and listen to the creek which is nice. The place is clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay there although we were out exploring and hiking most of the daylight hours so we didn't spend much time at the cabin during the day. I would recommend this place.
We had a great time and stay at your cabin. It is set up well and enjoyed it. We had plenty of room for our 4-Wheeling equipment and trucks.
Thanks for the nice place to stay.
We had a wonderful time at this house. The yard/pond and house were very nice.
Almost everything was much better than we expected it to be in a dog friendly rental.
Quiet, secluded cabin on 3 acres, less than 4 miles from stoplight in town. 2 ponds, Cottonwood Creek frontage, Mount Princeton view. One mile to Cottonwood Hot Springs, one mile to one of the country's last drive-in movie theaters! Blue medal fly-fishing in the Arkansas River just ten minutes away. Located just off County Road 306, which takes you up to Cottonwood Pass and over to Taylor Reservoir. Snowmobiling, Mountain Biking, Fly Fishing, Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking all within a few minutes' drive. For more info check out www.buenavistalife.com
