Overview

About the property

Sleep 2 to 10 people

August Inn is located on Anderson Island in southern Puget Sound. The small, 18 square mile island offers a quick getaway from hectic metropolitan areas.

Just short 20 minute ferry ride from the historic town of Steilacoom, then 10 minutes to the house.

Situated on one acre that slopes to 125 feet of waterfront, the panoramic view reaches north to the Tacoma Narrows and south to the Nisqually River Delta, with Mt. Rainier directly across. Due southeast is the untouched Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.

Although this private island has very little commercial development, it includes two restaurants and a general store.

The island is perfect for a quiet country walk, bicycle rides, or kayaking.

Private & Beautiful View

  • 5 of 5

We loved this private beach house! It was comfortably accommodating to three families, including 7 adults and 5 young children. Everyone had their own bed (which were dreamy) and private space and bathroom. The main area was perfect to hang out and cook/dine together. We enjoyed the bonfire area, decks with umbrellas and being steps away from the beach. The view of Mt. Rainier was amazing. We felt like we didn't have to leave the property!

Breathtaking Views of The sound and Mt.Rainier

  • 5 of 5

My friends of 25 years, spent 2 nights at this home, and enjoyed it so much. The deck is huge, you can spend all your time looking at Mt Rainier, the water, tides going in and out, birds. ect. The accommodations, were, modern, clean. Each bedroom is very private, almost feels like separate apartments. The beach is also beautiful, just a few steps from the house. You can sit in the dinning room, and listen to the sound of the waves. We loved this place and wish we would have staying a week. We are already looking at your calendars to see when we can go back again.

WHAT A GEM! FABULOUS GETAWAY! COMFORTABLE AND SPACIOUS HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

  • 5 of 5

Our (large) family booked this rental for part of our spring break. I grew up vacationing on the island, so a return there is always a gift, in this case even more so because we had such great accommodations!

The home is spacious with a variety of sleeping spaces. Washing the dishes while looking out on the Sound made me just want to keep on washing...but I couldn't because I had to get out on the deck to enjoy the sunshine or slide one of our kayaks into the water for a ride or go lounge in a chair to read my book.

Cons:

No washer-dryer, so pack enough clothes for a variety of weather conditions!

Not enough photos on the VRBO website - but we have taken several and can share with the owner :)

No DVDs on site as reported in the listing - not a big deal, though

Pros:

RELAXING!

Location is ON THE WATER, looks out at Mount Rainier when clear day...sea lions and waterfowl viewable

Affordable

Variety of rental options within one property

Nicely furnished

COMFORTABLE

Lots of room to spread out

EXCELLENT communication with property owner

Two eateries on the island, plus a general store

Lots of parks to hike and explore on the island

Definitely hope to return sometime, for a full week this time!
