Overview

About the property

Sleep 2 to 10 people

August Inn is located on Anderson Island in southern Puget Sound. The small, 18 square mile island offers a quick getaway from hectic metropolitan areas.

Just short 20 minute ferry ride from the historic town of Steilacoom, then 10 minutes to the house.

Situated on one acre that slopes to 125 feet of waterfront, the panoramic view reaches north to the Tacoma Narrows and south to the Nisqually River Delta, with Mt. Rainier directly across. Due southeast is the untouched Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.

Although this private island has very little commercial development, it includes two restaurants and a general store.

The island is perfect for a quiet country walk, bicycle rides, or kayaking.

Excellent location, and flexibility of sleeping areas. It was clean, functions well and enjoyable.

Our family has been coming for many years and really enjoy the privacy and family home feel of this site. It is always clean, prepared for us and lovely to enjoy. We missed having screens on the windows, so that we could both open windows, have a light on and keep the bugs [all of them] out.

We found the lack of coffee cups a challenge and will probably just pack our own in for the future--so we are covered. Thank you for having and maintaining this facility. With kindness,

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 7 adults and two children had plenty of space. Two bedrooms off of kitchen plus two huge suites allowed us to spread out (we didn't need the two twin beds in an upstairs TV room). The views are simply stunning with hide tide about 25 feet from the deck and Mt. Rainier directly across the water. The home is in great condition and very well appointed. Furthermore, Tim was extremely responsive to all inquiries giving me great confidence betting our family vacation on them.

The pebble beach has a nice slope allowing us to manage our boat during the day, mooring at night at Riviera boat launch/dock (a reservation for a slip is recommended as you will need to negotiate a guest pass).

Anderson Island is perfectly sized to allow a family to get out and do things without trekking all over for the day. Our group swam in warm fresh water lake, hiked to the various beaches, and ran on near zero car count roads, but mostly we were so comfortable we all stayed and enjoyed the views and each other from the deck.

We will be back.

A Fabulous Time Away!

  • 5 of 5

I looked to find a place on the water for a family reunion/visit, and I could not have been more fortunate will this location! The house was spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and plenty large for the entire family. We spent most of our time on the deck, overlooking the water and Mt. Rainier. The only thing that could have made it better would have been to have a buoy to tie the boat up to....otherwise, it was perfect! Thank you!!!

Private & Beautiful View

  • 5 of 5

We loved this private beach house! It was comfortably accommodating to three families, including 7 adults and 5 young children. Everyone had their own bed (which were dreamy) and private space and bathroom. The main area was perfect to hang out and cook/dine together. We enjoyed the bonfire area, decks with umbrellas and being steps away from the beach. The view of Mt. Rainier was amazing. We felt like we didn't have to leave the property!

Breathtaking Views of The sound and Mt.Rainier

  • 5 of 5

My friends of 25 years, spent 2 nights at this home, and enjoyed it so much. The deck is huge, you can spend all your time looking at Mt Rainier, the water, tides going in and out, birds. ect. The accommodations, were, modern, clean. Each bedroom is very private, almost feels like separate apartments. The beach is also beautiful, just a few steps from the house. You can sit in the dinning room, and listen to the sound of the waves. We loved this place and wish we would have staying a week. We are already looking at your calendars to see when we can go back again.
