About Al Gaivoto
I was born in Portugal, raised in Canada and lived in Los Angeles, Korea, Taiwan Munich and in London for 21 years. (So I know a bit about travel) I worked at times for the Disney studios, Hanna Barbera, and Cartoon Network as an animator. I worked mainly on series such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy duck, but also on TV ads and films such as Roger Rabbit (the best known) kids...NO ! I didn't work on Sponge Bob !!!!!
Al Gaivoto purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Al Gaivoto chose Trebesing
After leaving London, I lucked out by finding this wonderful old abandoned Rectory with such beautiful views and a village full of friendly people. I original came here to paraglide, but fell in love with the area and stayed. After 8 months of renovation I moved in and set about renting the two apartments to visitors, (we live above). I kept as much of the old charm as possible, trying to blend into the village's unique architectural style. We are now settled with our cats and have never looked back. (you can see photos of the renovation on our private website.
What makes this Apartment unique
Healthy fresh mountain air and water. Peaceful or energetic holidays. Mountain walks of varying difficulties start at our front door. We are a mere 40 minute drive from a lunch in Italy or Slovenia. Gmünd a thirteen century medieval town is ten minutes away and our favourite spot for a coffee!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.

Although a quiet small hamlet, Altersberg is situated in an area of Carinthia (Kärnten) within an easy day trip of many world famous tourist attractions. Salzburg is a mere 150 kms north on the A10 motorway. There is a daily tourist bus service to Venice where you can wander the narrow streets for hours tasting the local wines without the worry of a drive home. Hallstatt, a world heritage site, is well worth a visit and a short drive through some beautiful mountain scenery.
A little closer to home you can enjoy the many wonderful sites that this area has to offer, swimming in crystal clear lakes, year round glacier skiing on the Mölltaler glacier, wandering up beautifully scenic routes to traditional mountain top "Almhütten" (small wooden huts serving food and drink), taking a ride on the Reisseck funicular railway, cable car to Goldeck, visiting the many national parks nearby such as Nockberg and Hohe Tauern.
Gmünd, a medieval town dating back to 1100 AD and an artist's paradise sits at the entrance of Maltatal, a beautifully scenic valley winding it's way past the highest waterfall in the area, and up some breathtaking scenery ending at the gigantic Malta dam. The valley is ideal for stress free bicycle rides, my favourite type....
