Lovely condo near the beach, perfect for families!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent the long weekend at Pam and Greg's condo. The unit is upgraded and beautifully decorated. It was impeccably clean at arrival and had everything we needed and more (beach wagon, chairs, boogie boards, fully equipped kitchen). We especially loved the location (walking distance to the beach and close to Coligny Plaza). I highly recommend this rental and would happily rebook.

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much for your assessment of our condo and the length of time to get to the beach. The highway is really not that crowded and it is 5-7 minutes to the beach. Thanks for the vote of confidence on how we've stocked the condo for visitors. We work hard at that issue and are glad that it made your visit more pleasant. Thanks so very much for choosing us.

The actual condo was perfect, beautiful, comfortable, clean, and well supplied!

The overall building could use some TLC. I was unaware that the pool was only indoor, but we were there for the beach and loved every minute of it!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We work hard to keep our place up to high standards. We are in the process of completing an update of the building. The inside is nearly complete and the outside has just had a complete redo. There is an outside pool, note the picture. It's in the back.

very satisfied

Our first experience of renting something on line, we were very much pleased with the condo and how well it's been maintained and up to date kitchen and furniture. Everything was very comfortable and surly felt like home. The owners were very friendly and were very attentive to any questions we had and in a timely matter! The beach is only app 7 min walk to a beautiful beach. Also we were in walking distance to cafes, and shops. Bikes could be rented in many near spots for your pleasure. Lots to see and do, owners thought of everything from little things from dish soap, shampoo, paper towels, beach chairs and wagon, umbrella and sand toys for the children. Great job, will return one day soon.

Not so much...

2 adults, 2 kids (12 & 14). Upon arrival to the area of the condo, it took over 30 minutes circling the lot because the buildings weren't marked. We finally just got out and walked around till we found the unit. Once we located the key, we found a beautifully decorated and clean two bedroom condo. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots, and pans. There was also a washer dryer in the unit. Public beach access was not well marked, and we had to go to the hotel across the street and ask where the nearest public path was. From the condo front door, you must get to the parking lot, out of the complex, walk a block, cross a four-lane road, then down a long narrow path. There were no restroom facilities or shower facilities at this location. It was at least a 10 to 15 minute walk, especially when you are toting items like a cooler, etc. Not a five minute walk as represented. Additionally, we were concerned about summer storms creeping up and how we would have gotten to shelter if needed in a hurry. There is a more public beach in the opposite direction called Coligny Square, which was very nice but it was a much longer walk from the condo. There were 4 televisions in the condo. 3 remotes with dead batteries, so the one remote was shuffled back and forth. Between the kitchen and the second bedroom was a nice sitting area with a pull out sofa bed. The sofa was nice, but the mattress appeared to be well used and my son could not sleep on it. The master bedroom has a very light colored window shade... very pretty to look at but unfortunately does nothing to stop the 5:50 a.m. Sun from shining directly in your room. Each morning we awoke to very bright sunlight and got no rest on our vacation. The condo was stocked with towels and linens. But several of the towels appeared to be brand new, and unwashed. So for two days we dealt with white fuzzies from the towels on everything! Upon departure, we found a number of needed items, like beach towels, electric griddle, beach chair stowed or hidden away throughout the condo in drawers and under beds. (The owner told me via email that she periodically stays there, and that those items were HERS and nor for use. And apparently, extra batteries were in a drawer in the entryway. I guess we should've known that ) The maid came to our door at 9:11 am even though checkout was 10.

Beach overcrowded and overrated. Touristy. Will never go back.

Owner's Response: We are very, very sorry that this renter did not enjoy their stay in our condo and at the beach on our beautiful Hilton Head Island. The beach is a 5-7 minute walk depending upon your desired entrance which is soft sand or a nice mat-covered walkway over all of the soft sand and complete with restrooms, outdoor showers, and a drinking fountain. This is the Alder Lane access and it is a 7 minutes or so walk. I know that it seems farther when you are dragging all of your beach gear and the heat is on you. I'm sorry. The sofa bed mattress is only 3 years old and is not used much except by small children. There are four flat screen TV's in the condo and we did leave batteries in the drawer stack right inside the front door for those remotes. I do have high quality woven wood shades throughout the condo in colors that complement the beach decor. Each has automatic push up mechanics to eliminate dangerous cords that children could find. We love the natural light that bathes the condo . It washes away our gloom from dark northern days. Our cleaning crew is a very special family that keeps our condo so clean and sparkling. They are the ones that leave all of the little nice amenities for guests, such as paper towels, shampoo, hand soap, dish detergent, etc. I will speak to them about not knocking until 10:00. There is a doorknob sign right on the refrigerator that says, occupied on one side and empty on the other. Guests can use this on their last day so as not to be disturbed. Please be kind and turn it when you leave. So we are heartbroken that these guests have not had a good experience in our condo or at Hilton Head. I'm sure that you can research other guests experiences and decide for yourself.

Wonderful!! Felt just like home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely trip in large part to having a lovely home to stay in. The condo is just as described and had many little features that were very helpful especially since we were vacationing with our 3yr old son (potty seat, step stool, board games, puzzles, etc). It felt as if we were staying in a home versus a bare vacation rental. The kitchen was very well stocked and all the appliances and furnishings were up to date. Both the outdoor and indoor pool were very convenient, but the beach was of course the highlight. We found a couple of public paths that were much closer than the main entrance. Pam was very communicative which was very helpful. She has also left a detailed list of instructions and a very informative binder of tourist information. The condo is very close to

Coligny Plaza and many restaurants. We had so much fun exploring!! We hope to stay again some time soon!
