About the property

Sunny Quaint One Bedroom Cottage

Heron creek cottage is located between historic Port Madison and Fay Bainbridge waterfront park on the northern end of Bainbridge Island. Set on a hill nestled on the edge of a douglas fir forest, Heron Creek Cottage views a glimpse of Port Madison bay and a pastoral landscape, home to friendly goats and chickens.

The sunny woodsy cottage is an ideal getaway for two people, but will sleep four (hide-a-bed couch in the living room). Heron creek has one bedroom with a very comfortable queen size bed, a separate bathroom (shower), full laundry facilities, a complete kitchen, and an inviting living room with cable tv, dvd, and wifi. An outside deck offers a patio table with umbrella that will seat six, and a bbq area. Convenient parking is next to the cottage. Guests are invited to tour the surrounding gardens that, for ten years, have been on local and national garden tours. Our location is an easy walking or bicycling distance to Fay Bainbridge park or frog rock, an island icon (each less than a mile). The Seattle yacht club fo’c’s’le is a mile and a quarter jaunt for sailing enthusiasts. Three miles down the road is rolling bay community where guests may find a post office, bakery with fresh coffee, and “Bay Hay & Feed”, a local feed, plant nursery, gift store, and country fashions. For convenience, guests may enjoy “Via Rosa”, excellent and authentic take out Italian cuisine. A local Jiffy Mart is also available. So come, relax and enjoy heron creek cottage. We look forward to meeting you.

Great place and stay!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the place. Has all the amenities you need for a short stay. Five minutes walk to the beach, in the middle of a forest. Great communication with the owners. Would stay there again.

Great Cottage but still close to Seattle sights

  • 5 of 5

We loved our two nights here at the cottage. It was the perfect distance between visiting downtown Seattle and Olympic National Park. The ferry ride from Bainbridge to downtown is a perfect intro to the city and couldn't be more convenient. The cottage sits on a gorgeous piece of land and you are walking distance to a nice park with water views. Tami was a great host. Highly recommend and I would definitely stay here again

Ideal spot for two weeks in the Pacific Northwest.

  • 5 of 5

Nestled under the tall trees, overlooking the goat yard and the tidy chicken coop, we couldn't have found a better place to spend two weeks. Outfitted with a wonderful, bright well-equipped kitchen, cozy living room and comfy bedroom we couldn't have been more comfortable. Because of a cool spell we didn't get to sit out on the deck much, but cooked some wonderful salmon on the grill. The whole place (26 acres of forest and gardens) is beautifully landscaped and tended by Tami and Conrad. A short walk down the road to Fay Bainbridge State Park with its beach and bald eagles roosting in the trees, seals and sea otters just off shore was a great addition to the location. We found the location there on Bainbridge Island ideal for our day trips west to the Olympic Peninsula and north to the San Juan Islands and on to Bellingham, and an easy ferry ride back to Seattle for a visit to Pike Place Market and the Aquarium. We also discovered the house is just a short drive to the Suquomish reservation and the grave of Chief Seattle. Our only regret was that the owners were out of town and we didn't meet Tami till we were packing up to leave. Even so, they were very attentive, responded quickly to phone calls and solved any problems easily.

While there is a sofa in the living room that will make into a bed, I would not recommend trying to sleep 4 there. There are only two stools to sit to eat at the counter indoors which we needed to do because of chill air and some rain. I also would put in a request for getting more comfortable stools as this is the only "table" indoors and I found I spent time there reading and writing as well as eating.

Overall, it was a lovely stay for the two of us.

Accurately presented and a quiet beautiful spot

  • 4 of 5

We loved our time at the cottage. This place is perfect if you're looking for a quiet spot to sip a cup of coffee and sit on the porch. We were able to enjoy summer rainstorms with the doors open. We enjoyed the porch and the goats and chickens nearby. The owners who live in houses on the property took us on a tour. They're highly educated and understand the biology at work in the area literally maybe better than anyone you could find. It was a fun experience. I wouldn't suggest this place for older or "prissy" people. My mother wouldn't have loved it because there were a few bugs around (it is a country cottage). It was clean enough for me but my mother wouldn't have thought it was an acceptable hotel cleaning job. :) Overall I would definitely stay at the cottage again.
