Quiet, great location to explore Pembrokeshire's beaches, countryside and city

About Jon Bray & Karen Hearn
A pair of food loving, dog loving, outdoor living, Pembrokeshire lovers. We moved here from London in 2002 and have never regretted it for a moment. Living in Pembrokeshire means for us walks on the beach, exploring the countryside, living more sustainably, harvesting our own fruit and veg, looking after our animals (currently 6 chickens, 2 geese and a chocolate lab) and generally enjoying a slower pace of life. We have planted up 6 acres of native broadleaf woodland and find it extremely satisfying when birds migrating all the way from Africa see fit to nest in our little patch.
Jon Bray & Karen Hearn purchased this Barn in 2002
Why Jon Bray & Karen Hearn chose Haverfordwest
We fell in love the moment we drove in through the gate. Far enough off the beaten track, yet with good neighbours and located centrally in Pembrokeshire so that everything the county offers – beaches, cliffs, woods, hills, rivers and valleys – is within easy reach. We’ve spent over ten years slowly renovating our house, the Grange – Ty Lloi (The Calf House) was completed far quicker although still in a manner true to our ideals, using local craftsmen and an architect who shared our vision of preserving the original nature of the building, whilst maximising passive solar gain, introducing high levels of insulation and utilising natural materials.

Lovely “away from it all” holiday.
Lovely property with everything we needed to hand including a welcome pack of provisions. Very peaceful, beautifully furnished with good access to the coast and countryside walks. We were left a black currant jam ( which the owners make and sell,) a fantastic addition to breakfast.
perfect place to stay
beautiful accommodation, everything thing you need & more for your stay, home from home. Nice quiet location still within easy reach of all the places we wanted to visit.
Great homemade jam :-)
Relaxing few days away
We thoroughly enjoyed our time away and the property was excellent. It was very well designed and included everything we required as well as providing a perfect base to explore the local area.
Beautiful barn in a beautiful setting
Honestly words can’t describe just how beautiful this barn is and the surrounding area, after just a few days away we felt like we had been away for weeks because of just how comfy and relaxing everything was.
Karen and Jon are the perfect hosts, helpful friendly and welcoming and happy to answer any questions we had before and during the stay. The barn is packed with everything you would possibly need while on vacation we could just forget about everything and relax.
Jon and Karen’s cooking is wonderful and I would recommend anyone staying to take advantage of some lovely home cooked food.
Great place to chill out
This is a lovely, restful place to get away for a few days, which is exactly what we needed. The hosts are exceptionally nice people - they even found a couple of toothbrushes for us when we found we'd left ours behind (duh!). You should most definitely ask them to cook for you - Jon is really good chef, we had a truly exceptional meal served to us in the accommodation. There is a very quiet, sheltered, private sitting area behind the accommodation. Everything is fitted out to a very high standard, and unlike almost every other "self-catering" place we've been, it was possible to cook!
The kitchen was so well-equipped we could have cooked almost anything, except the giant lobster I bought in Solva. So Jon cooked it for me. We will be staying again!
Outstanding property in an outstanding area
We couldn't have asked any more for Chester's first holiday! We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack in a property that is better than you could imagine. Perfect for 2-3 people and of course our dog. The property is pefectly placed with great walks close by. Ty Lloi is equipped with everything you need and like home from home. Karen and Jon greeted us with an amazing supper the first night and Ty Lloi turned out to be the best restaurant in the area! So much so we enjoyed several of Jon and Karen's meals. There are so many incredible walks and places of interest within a short drive and we didn't have to leave Pembrokeshire. From north to south we walked around Pentre Ifan, Dinas Head, Fishguard, Porthgain, St David's Head, St David's, Penycwm, Newgale, Broad Haven, Haroldston, Little Haven, Marloes, Pembroke, Angle, Bosherton, Stackpole, Freshwater (Harry Potter Fame), Manorbier, and Carew. Most of these are on the stunning Pembrokeshire coast path and we did quite short (less than 3 hrs) walks as our dog is still young. We also had amazingly sunny weather for the whole time so we didn't use any of the wet weather gear we'd brought with us! The issue with writing a great review is that more people want to come here.......if you do keep it quiet like we have! Thank you Karen and Jon.
Within easy reach of Ty Lloi there are numerous stunning beaches, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the wild North coast, St David's Cathedral, the Preseli Hills and the beautiful Gwaun Valley..
