Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , 2 Sleeps

If you Love Music this is the place for you !!

The Marigny neighborhood is adjacent to the French Quarter and is home to Frenchmen Street, famous for its numerous clubs and bars.

You will find upscale nightclubs, small music venues and gritty hole in the wall bars that feature a wide variety of local live music nightly. The Spotted Cat, d.b.a., Café Negril, Apple Barrel, Checkpoint Charlie, Maison, Snug Harbor and The Three Muses are all just a couple of minutes from your front porch. You will have no excuse for not enjoying the abundance of music that will be just steps from your door.

Thursday through Sunday nights you can pop in to the Frenchmen Art Market around the corner where local artists show and sell their unique productions.

When you want to get a little wild you are only a 10 minute walk to the craziness that is known as Bourbon St.

We are just 2 blocks from The French Quarter. You can easily walk to The French Market, Café Du Mond, Jackson Square, Armstrong Park etc. You can conveniently catch the streetcar to The Garden District , City Park, Audubon Zoo, Magazine St and other points of interest.

The house is a double 'shotgun'. Each side of this double has 1 bedroom and 1 bath and it's own private entrance. Maximum of 2 persons for this rental

This is a 'shotgun' house. Meaning you must go from 1 room to get to the next. There are no hallways. All rooms have 13 ft ceilings.

The first room is the 'living room'. Furnishings include: 42 inch tv with cable, Original art by myself and my father. A table top all in 1 record player/radio with a collection of oldies 45 rpm discs

Original 10 ft. pocket doors lead to the bedroom. Antique and vintage furniture complement the queen size bed with fresh and clean linen.

The kitchen features a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster and coffee maker. A dining table with 4 chairs.

There is a full bathroom with an ample supply of clean towels.

Being so close to the reveling on Frenchmen Street, at times it can get a little noisy. Particularly during festivals. There is a 'pick-up' brass band that jams most every night on the corner down the street. They usually knock off before 10pm. They are really good and I find myself pulling a chair out on the front porch, making a cocktail and enjoying the sounds. Just saying, It's not crazy all night or every night but If you are seeking a tranquil and peaceful vacation this might not be the spot for you.

On the other hand if you came down to enjoy the Music, Food and Art scene this is definitely the place to be.

About William Perasso

My name is William I was born in San Francisco and lived in Northern California my entire life until recently when the call to New Orleans became too strong to resist any longer and we made the big move to the Big Easy. I am happily married to my beautiful and talented wife Ying. We have been married 7 years. My wife is a Chef. She was born and raised in Brooklyn and has been living in California for the past 20 years.

William Perasso purchased this house in 2013

Why William Perasso chose Faubourg Marigny

When we decided to pursue our dream of having a 2nd home in NOLA we flew in from San Francisco every couple of months for a few days at a time. We stayed in different areas (French Quarter, Garden District, Irish Channel etc) We fell in love with the Marigny. The reason we love New Orleans is the music and the food and the fun. So we figured let's be in the middle of it. And we are. There is so much to enjoy within walking distance.

Perfect place to experience New Orleans

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here over St. Patrick's weekend. This is located really close (two houses away) from Frenchman Street. There are many places to visit (stores and restaurants) in the area. The house is perfect and beautiful on the inside. There was even coffee and creamer in the fridge. We went to a grocery store down the street and bought eggs, butter, and bagels for breakfast. There is a band that plays on the corner of the street that goes pretty long into the night (3 am) so if you are wanting quiet....it might not be the best place for you. I was even excited to meet the owner of the place multiple times. We would love to stay here again and experience more of the New Orleans life. Thanks William again for allowing us to visit your home.

Great location. Lovely space

  • 5 of 5

The pictures really don’t do this place justice. The high ceilings, the comfy bed the total surroundings are just wonderful. My son and I stay there while we celebrated his 18th birthday and we had a wonderful time. He said he like to stay there again if he ever comes back to New Orleans. Just be aware that it can be noisy at night because it is extremely close to Frenchmen Street. This didn’t bother us but if you are a light sleeper that might be an issue for you. But besides that it is extremely convenient to The French quarter and just about anywhere else you might want to go in the general tourist district of New Orleans. We pretty much walked everywhere. I would definitely stay here again and hope to perhaps sometime this summer.

beautifully kept space

We really enjoyed our stay. If you like the music scene, this is a great choice. The place is spotless with funky art, and the owners are helpful and friendly. All the great clubs are within a few blocks, and the waterfront trolley can be grabbed right around the corner. A highlight for us was Jazz Brunch at Buffa's.

Classic New Orleans! Everything we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this shotgun house. Right off Frenchmans Street, it was in the heart of all the wonderful clubs and great music as well as close to everything we wanted to see and do in the city. The parking permit allowed us to leave our car right in front of the house and never moved it until departure. The streetcar was a couple blocks, but we only took it once and chose to walk everywhere. William was there to greet us and made us feel welcome. We had everything we needed. The Jazz band on the corner every night was a challenge if you wanted to sleep, but we watched and joined the street party to the end. This is a real gem! Thank you for opening your wonderful house to others who want to experience New Orleans in all of it's uniqueness. Loved all the furnishings and art as well, you can feel the history and the culture pouring out. I highly recommend this wonderful property.

The house is much larger then the pictures convey. The high ceilings give the feeling of more space.

There was plenty of room for 2, with seating and glasses, to entertain a couple more. The property is very clean and well maintained. Your hosts are welcoming, accommodating and very prompt.

The kitchen has everything you need to cook a small meal. We made breakfast everyday.

Perfect location. Live music, restaurants, shoping and bars right outside your front door! We walked everywhere in only minutes!

I will be giving the information for this property to all of my family and friends!
